Best And Worst Fans In The Nfl

69 posts in this topic

What team do you guys think has the best and worst fan base?
I chose mine based mostly on loyalty: least amount of bandwagoners, and high attendence at home and on the road (especially if their team has a losing record).
And also attitude: general character and demeanor (for instance, certain fans tend to boo their own players.)

Best fanbase (loyalty):

1. Browns
2. Steelers
3. Redskins
4. Packers
5. Jaguars
Honorable mention: Ravens*, Titans, Bills

Best Fanbase (attitude):

1. Ravens
2. Titans
3. 49ers
4. Dolphins
5. Vikings
Honorable mention: Colts

Worst Fanbase (loyalty):

1. Raiders
2. Patriots
3. Panthers
4. 49ers
5. Lions

Worst Fanbase (attitude):

1. Eagles
2. Steelers
3. Cowboys
4. Giants
5. Raiders

*The only reason I didn't rate us very high is longevity. We haven't had to watch our team have a losing record for years and years like many other teams so it didn't seem fair to rank us with teams like the Packers.

I respectfully disagree with all four lists, but I won't make my own only because I just know that this'll invite trolls to come to the board and defend their fanbase.

For the record, the Jaguars' fanbase isn't very loyal if their team is currently in danger of leaving the city; Jacksonville just isn't a football town, and the few football fans that are there, have other alternatives in the Dolphins and the Buccaneers, as well as the Hurricanes, the Gators, and the Seminoles if you're more college-inclined. And there's also other colleges like UCF, South Florida, Miami International...

Basically, too many football teams in Florida, and all of them pull at Jacksonville's loyalty as a city.

I also wouldn't put us as the best fanbase in terms of attitude; the Packers fans are VERY respectful and knowledgeable about football, and I've encountered very few rude or disrespectful Packers fans.

Lol I didn't know the Jags were in danger of leaving... that's funny. I lived in Jacksonville for a while and my experience was what I based that on. But hey, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Btw I was speaking strictly in terms of the Nfl. I've never watched a single college game so I wouldn't venture a guess there.

So you really don't think the Eagles have a disrespetful fanbase? I mean really, it's the Eagles. And sorry to say it, but Steelers Prophet is the only nice Pittsburg fan I've ever met.

We should be in the top 5 in loyalty, for a young franchise we have a huge amount of dedicated fans, my aunt was buried with a Ravens pillow, and I feel the same way

I for one live in the heart of Jag country, they do have some really loyal fans, but what Franchise said is also true, there is alot of mixed fan base as well between the bucs, fins and college football.

Well, the Philly fans have the reputation that comes with booing Santa Claus. And the worst story of horrible fans I ever heard came out of Pittsburgh. A friend of a friend went up to Pitt for a Ravens game a few years back, dressed in full Ravens gear, and after the game, him and his girl were walking back to their car. They stopped when he heard the sound of glass breaking. He turned around and saw that some ****** that were harassing them earlier had thrown a glass bottle at them, and he said when he stopped he also smelled urine. Granted, the piss smell could have just been because it might have been Iron City beer, but still, glass gets razor sharp when it breaks. That's some real **** right there.

Eh, forget it, I'll give in:

Best fanbases:
1) Packers
2) Bills
3) 49ers
4) Steelers (yes, I said it)
5) Chiefs

Worst fanbase:
1) Eagles
2) Raiders
3) Bengals
4) Jaguars
5) Titans

That's a combination of fan support (financially or otherwise) and attitude. The Bills & 49ers take the #2 & #3 spots in my top 5 best because of their large number of longtime fans and how strongly they've voiced their opinions when management has clearly done something wrong. Chiefs sneak in at #5 because of their sea of red and how insane they are for football in that area. Steelers take the #4 spot in spite of their attitude because they travel better than almost every fanbase.

As much as I hate to say it, Steeler's have the best fanbase. They travel and take over stadium's everywhere in the freaking country. There is not a team in the NFL that has a fan base like that. :(

Please....Steeler fans DO NOT travel. They live all over the country because there's no jobs in Pittsburgh.

I disagree with some of those lists. Most specifically I think Raiders fans are some of the most loyal, I mean some of those guys that dress up with the face paint all crazy go to every single one of their games ever since the 70's

I don't think theres really an argument about Steelers fans being the most loyal. They come in large groups, but I've come across very few respectful Steelers fans and they also aren't always the most knowledgable. The Browns fanbase remains true even after year after year of Dissapointment. You also have to throw the Lions in there somewhere, They still had people coming to the games to support them even tho their record shows them as the worst team in football.

Yeah the Steelers do fill up the stands, but it's easy to support your team when they are always winning. I think Browns fans deserve their props; the team loses and they still show up. But I hear that the Lions on the other hand, though they did have a number of fans show up, weren't even able to sell out all their tickets even at home games.

There is no way in hell the Raiders are top 5 worst loyalty, in fact I would put them in the top 5 for best loyalty for sticking out the Al-Davis Monarchy even with no hope in site. I believe ESPN.com voted them the best fans actually.

Patriots fans are however not loyal at all. They wrote their season and coach off as soon as Brady went down. It was a crime they didn't make the playoffs and the 8-8 Chargers did. (However I was happy with the situation seeing as the chargers are the colts kryptonite and we whre in the playoffs.)

Best attitude does not go to either the Titans or the Ravens. Titans for booing Vince Young and the Ravens for booing Kyle Boller when he left the game after sustaining an injury. Made me sad to be a Ravens fan.

If I gave you a free ticket to go see the circus, you would go for free, that is the same as going to a Lion's game! You know the ticket had to be free!

I dont know about best fanbases but any fanbase that cant sell out a playoff game within 24 hours, let alone have to have the blackout date on a playoff game extended is pretty pathetic in my opinion. I am looking at you Vikings and Cardinals fans.

The Eagles fan base and media can be real rough but,no one can question the passion and loyalty of Eagle fans.

Starving for a title can make anyone rabid.

I wonder why ESPN would vote Oakland as the best fans considering they have one of the lowest attendance rates even at home games.

I'm curious, who's fanbase do you think is the best? Or did you just want to comment on my picks?

If you say so. The Steelers should be #1 of course. The Ravens should also be in the top five. The Redskins? The Redskins had to go to a silent count in their own stadium when the Steelers played them. Why? Because those loyal Redskins fans sold their tickets to Steelers fans. I can see the Packers and the Bills in the top five. I would also put either the Giants or Cowboys as having a top 5 fanbase.
