What Is The Deal, Am I Really That Bad

29 posts in this topic

i just started my franchise with the ravens, i traded some players and what not but kept the main ones of course, just picked up sproles and fitzgerald. Right now im 4-2, my losses came to the colts and guess who the steelers. Both games resulted in the same thing, i was down in 4th and scored with a minute to go and they just march down the field and score. You may be saying clock management, well i cant control when i get a break out play. What is t he deal tho, i mean i was getting killed on the passing game, my run D is good i havent allowed over 60yards yet. But what tips can you give me on the pass game. Most of the time i dont audible, i just shift the line to the left or right and blitz with one guy. any help

If the opposing offense is running the no-huddle, you're pretty much screwed. The game's AI on defense gets beat easily by the no-huddle, no matter what difficulty you're on. Your only option would be either to learn how to control the DBs and play defense yourself, or stop blitzing and play mostly coverage in the 4th quarter.

I usually control a linebacker and choose at the last second to either blitz him manually or let him drop back into coverage, and pray that I can get a pick or get a sack on a blitz.

For some reason, pass defense formations (nickel, dime, quarter) suck against the pass (ironic), so there's no reason to use them in the 4th unless you have a comfortable lead or you can manually play coverage yourself.

I have the same problem. I can keep people under 30 yrds rushing, but they'll have like 150 yds passing. I usually just play DE, rush the QB. Sometimes I'll fall back with a linebacker and just control the middle in case of a slant.

Sometimes I do something weird like send my safety in for a sac, and it actually works sometimes.

Question for you, Heaap: isn't it about time to take down the sig? I wanted it to be true too, but let's look toward next year. :) Hopefully.

When i struggle in the passing game, i like to go to a 2 Man Under out of the nickel formation.. It brings in our passing coverage and allows me to use one of the safeties to pick up a receiver who may have broken open.. I use Reed and throw him in a deep zone nearly every play so i can cover the field and whoever may break open.. But if i see a man going deep, ill also be sure to watch him.. Try using the safety.. It takes some getting used to but it works..

when i played the game online, i found that there was a delay in the game responses to what your trying to do, so it led to plays that i didnt want to happen and got frustrated with it. so i dont play it online any more.

lol id like to play against u ... 2 man under is a terrible play to call out of the huddle in most situations...

When playing online, it works really well if u shade ur coverage... disguise ur blitz or overall fake it....

when playing against computer especially when ur up and they are trying to execute a two minute drive . of course it matters on who you are playing against but i usually play with one of the DE's as an extra LB in Dime 3-2-6 .... i usually rush pryce and bannan have ngata(me) scott lewis and suggs as lb's doing blitzes/man to man/ zone coverage... and then u still have 6 DB's/ Safeties to play mostly man with Reed staying overtop the best receiver....

the main thing about that setup is its impossible to get a big play against which is a big thing when playing the computer in time situations

tell me about it. I just lost to a guy that was 1-12 with a 86% DNF(obviously he doesnt take losing too well)...
Granted I used the Raiders and Russell had the accuracy of a 4 year-old.

Well when the AI goes no huddle on me it's pretty much a throw up.

Like Franchise said, assume the role of a DB or a DE but here's what really throws the computer off; When they line up and you don't change your defense, they pick the best offensive play thats built against that defensive play itself, shifting the d line in or pinching anybody won't make the cpu change it's play because you're still on the same play and if the cpu snaps the ball you're pretty much done.

So what to do is, before the game, get a good set of defensive audibles. With man, zone, blitz etc. Just have a variety of plays to call so that when the AI does a hurry up, right when the QB gets to the line and is ready to snap, quickly change the play. For me it's just tapping X twice to make it Cover 3 from a blitz play, it completely throws them off and they try to change plays from the line, once their new adjustments are done, change it again to maybe a man-zone play so even if on the off chance they do snap, it's a pretty safe scenario.

This is just a game of chance though when you do this, but it works out really well for me because I rapidly change plays and the cpu takes so much time changing their plays from the line the playclock runs down and their forced to take a time out.

Hope that helped.

grr, it gets worse...I lost to the computer. I was winning 14-0 and the other guy quit. I had eagles, he was Pats. In the 2nd half McNabb fumbles at the 5 and the recover for the td, I get the ball back and throw a pick 6 on the first play, i get a fg next, then the cpu throws an 80 yd bomb to Moss for a TD. Somehow i was in nickel with the defense backed off and he got behind me...

So Im down 35-26 with 2:21 left and Im kicking to them...I force a fumble ont he kick and recover. Score the TD, recover an onsides kick with :46 to go, march down the field to the 25 yd line with :22 left. There was an 18mph wind so I wanted to get closer but had no TOs so I had to throw....Whaddya know, another pick6

In the 4th qr of games Madden AI goes berserk and completes every pass. A way to stop this is first you know they are going to pass so play cover 2 and cover 3 and play as a LB to help cover the slot WR, dont even worry about a pass rush just cover everyone, use a DT in coverage if you have too trust me it works.

You know those 4 green light on the front of the xbox? Well those lights turn red and wont allow your xbox to even go to the dashboard.. The red ring is primarily caused by overheating, problems in the GPU, and problems with the powerbrick(that heavy giant thing attached to the power chord).. The red ring is pretty much your xbox's way of telling you somethings wrong.. If you ever get it, you have to call Microsoft and set up a repair where you send it out for 2-3 weeks.. Microsoft believes they have found the problem to the red ring though..

It's taken them, what, over three years now to figure out the source of the problem? I thought Microsoft would know their hardware better than that...but I guess a bunch of them were too busy, counting their billions, to care... <_<

The RROD is the main reason why I refuse to buy an XBOX until maybe the next one comes out. For now, I've been happy with PlayStation 1, 2, and 3. And even for the price, my PS3 has been worth every penny so far; so much so, that my PS3 game collection is now up to 26 games, and counting. And I've had it for less than a year now.

I am on my 3rd XBOX 360, but I wouldn't trade it for a PS3. I have played both, and the graphics are a wash. I like the online of the xbox more, as well as the controller, PS controllers just dont feel as natural. I feel like I have too big of hands to hold the controller. I like the PS3 for the fact that it plays blu-rays but other then that, there isn't enough that would make me want one. Yeah the xbox has problems, but I think the positives outweigh the negatives, at least for me.

RROD sucks, but at least they are willing to replace the boxes that malfunction, stand by their products. In a perfect world, I would have both, but to me its worth the chance of RROD and 2-3 weeks without an xbox over the price of the PS3 and the what seems to be laggy online play almost all the time, from what I've seen.

Ok, don't wanna start to sound like a fanboy lol, so I'll end my rant, that is off topic anyways

You're on your THIRD XBOX 360? Mannn, at least Microsoft's willing to replace yours -- if they weren't, I have no idea why you'd even bother sticking with it after sending it back the second time...

I don't care about graphics; they're all the same, anyway. To me, the PS3 is the best value, simply because of its cost relative to a standalone Blu-Ray player, the variety of original games (this includes downloadable ones), and the level of fan service that Sony offers. Sony not only obliged fans by bringing back older PS1 games for cheap downloads, but they also added a video download service to the PlayStation Store after the demand was there, as well as an in-game menu similar to XBOX's dashboard, home media server synchonization, and brought back the Dual Shock after a massive fan petition. And then of course, online gaming is FREE (and not that far behind Xbox Live in quality), and the battery life on the controller is outstanding (I charge it not even once a week).

Plus, Sony allows you to upgrade the PS3's hard drive without voiding the warranty (unlike the 360's proprietary hard drive), even going so far as to encourage users to do so. Sony's really pushing the PS3 as the ultimate home entertainment hub, and I think that if they were to lower the price, they may quickly catch up to Microsoft in hardware sales.

/rant (lol)

For one...If you're using the Ravens, they'll be pretty damn good on their own. It's probably your play calling..Dont call man coverage without blitzing hard, otherwise someone will get open. Play a 2 man under on 3rd and long, and hot route your DE's into coverage have only Ngata rushing..Although i find the Ravens are better with a 4-3 Scheme.

the less u rush in madden the worse off you are. You could have two receiver formation and put all 11 guys into coverage...Give the ****bag QB enough time to scramble around and someone WILL get ridiculously open for no reason at all, Ive seen it happen many times...

This is why you only use it while playing in experianced players who will force the throw before realizing no one's open. Also i usually rush a CB or put the DE in contain. Also i don't use 3-4, so i guess rushing only you're one DT isn't going to get you much pressure. The way i see it if its 3rd and 18 im goin 2 man under and hot routing the DE into purple zone to whatever side the #1 receiver is on, giving added help stopping deep ins and long come backs. If the man likes to QB run ill place a DT in spy and rush with the 2 remaining DL. Usually on 3rd and 18 even with 9 men in zone, yes someone might get open after 15 seconds, but im hoping my 2 linemen and me playing with the safety will cause enough pressure for the QB to make a forced throw.

Also usually its around where the yellow zone is that someone tends to get open while rushing few players, but thats still only a 9 yard gain on 3rd and 18.

I might be the only lucky Xbox owner who has never gotten 3 rings.

Over 3 three years I've only had two consoles. The only problem with the first one was the Video chip was damaged so I would get these black spots all over my screen. I fixed it then got an Elite about a month after it released and it's never given me any problems whatsoever.

2 friends with elites have had their 360's freeze and make crazy screens, and eventually fail within the past month. Hopefully it doesn't get you, but beware lol
