To Fall In Love!

31 posts in this topic

Ray Lewis is the center of the Baltimore Raven's. When you say Baltimore Raven's, the first player you think of is Ray Lewis. When you say Raven's defense you think of Ray Lewis. I think you may even think of Ray Lewis when you just say Baltimore. We as Raven's fan's are head over heels in love with what he means and has done for the Baltimore Raven's myself included. If you were to walk down the stairs to my Man Cave this is the biggest picture on my wall.

Here we are it is Feb. 12, 2009 and we are coming to a cross road with Ray Lewis. Free Agency! Do we allow the heart beat to go or do we give up the big contract to make him stay? Is he all we have? Can we win without him? Is it in the best interest to offer a contract with around $20 mil in guranteed money to a 34 year old LB?

This is what I hope happens. I hope our team make a decision that is in the best interest of the Baltimore Raven's. I do not want it to be based on the LOVE and emotional attachment for one player but based on the business of football. I also hope that we as fan's and as a team that we never again fall so deeply in love with a player that we can not let go of the player when it is time to do so or think that we can not survive with out him. Do not get me wrong I want Ray to stay but not if it will cost us in other areas of need for our team.

Great post Marc!!! I agree totally, I don't think we can afford to neglect other areas of the football team for a LB that is going to be away from this team one day anyway. The hard part would be seeing him in another uniform, but I'd rather have a great TEAM then ONE great player..

The biggest picture in your man cave would be that poster?

That's pathetic, my man cave would have the real Ray Lewis sitting there, just chillin'
That was nicely said, I agree 100 percent... 'Course I hope I can say the same when my favorite player leaves.
I did not want to see A.D. go, but that is the nature of the game. His replacement's can not do what he did but they are getting it done. I just think if the Raven's handle their player's in a business like fashion and take the emotions out it will be in the best interest of the team.

Sorry, I am sure that lots of folks will hate me, but as much as I love Ray. I thisnk he is more focused on self than team. I have seen some videos and read lots of blogs but he has made how much $$ lots, well deserved. He is a great foot ball player but foot ball is a team sport. Dalla's disaster of a season would speak volumes to this. If he wants to go fine, yup I would be sad. We keep Suggs, and Scott get a YOUNGer MLB with lots of speed, then spend some money for a young deep threat. Baltimore has always been big defense, I am sure that will not change with the loss of one player no matter how great he is.

Dallas? The Dallas Cowboy's are not really that good, if you put the Raven's history up vs Dallas from 1996, the Raven's look a whole lot better. tell me what Ray Lewis could have done last season to help the Cowboy's win. The last game of the season for the Cowboy's vs the Eagle's, all they had to do was win to get in. Instead of winning they lost 44-6, now that is focus. :o

personally i love ray and everything he has brought ot this team but if we sign him 3 years we will all be talking about can we be as good with ray hanging up the cleats why risk 3 years in investing in him when you can use what money we have to build this young team for the next 3 years their are alot of LB's on this team and im sure they will do just fine so why set our selfs back by giving ray all of our money when we can build on what we accomplished last year without him

Yeah I think that's what the original post was saying. I have the same feelings, especially after what the rookies this year have done.

we all have to keep in mind that sure, ray is getting up there in age, but hes still a pro-bowler and has the stats to back it up, its not like hes making probowl after probowl just because of the fan vote like vick seemed to do every year. if he wants somewhere around 8 mil a year over the next 3 years, i think hes worth every penny.. especially to this organization

TO is the man.....Not only did Ray Lewis say he was a great player..
When Emittt and Steve Young earlier this season interviewed TO basically told him he was the best player in the NFL hands down....That's saying a lot to many only Sanders as gone 50/50 on TO...Sometimes he says he is on top of the world..Other time he says no to TO....
To many greats have tipped their hats to TO....

Man Cave. There sometimes comes a time when a man will Marry the woman of his dreams or nightmares. When it is time to buy a house, you as a man need to make sure that there is a area of the house for you. You allow your wife to decorate the whole house except for the Man Cave. The best place is usually the basement. Here you set up your LCD, DLP or Plasma TV. Along with surround sound, DVD, PlayStation 3, seating for you and friends, pictures of your favorite sports and Beer close by. Do not forget Man Rules, no watching of anything other than your favorite sporting events including sports news when on. There will be no book parties, girls night out, watching of movies, Oxygen Ch. or Lifetime during GameTime. :o

I think the fans have plenty of reasons to fall in love with Ray Ray. He is a once in a lifetime player that has meant so much to the Ravens organization. I can't think of another current or past player that has been so loved by the fans. His spirit, leadership and phenomenal playing skills will be with us forever. I know he will not play forever, but he needs to retire a Raven. He is the face of, and heart and soul of our franchise. I can;t think of another NFL player that better represents his team better than Ray Lewis represents the Ravens. I believe the Ravens organization will find a way to keep Ray without jeapordizing any other needs the team may have.
