I changed the scheme a bit to suit us better, shared HB carries, possession WR, run stuffing DTs, coverage FS




So here I was expecting a decent season...

what do u mean by possession receiver?

if all u wanted the o to do was split carries between mcclain and mcgahee and then just had the idea of receivers being possession recievers based on the crap ratings EA has of flacco then i see that happening... the 70 yard bombs to clayton and williams and company even if incomplete help to stretch the defense. basically reverse to basic belief. the pass setting up the run.

the defense thing though with benson idk

Its seems if you sim games other HBs just completely run all over our D. Its insane. Willie Parker got over 200yards in one game.

Changing the coach WR scheme to possession plays to the strengths of our small WRs (89 and 91 speed respectively) and Flacco's low awareness rating. A speed/deep threat WR scheme would mean endless intercepts.

well I simmed my first season in franchise mode with updated rosters as well. Also, I had Mclain as the #1 back with Mcgahee as the 3rd down back. I simmed the whole season and we finished 7-9. last in rushing. last in run defense. Leonard, Stover, Mason and Bannon all went to the Pro Bowl. Flacco finished second in ROY voting. Stover retired and Wille anderson had a career ending injury midway through the season. Lo neal retired too. nothing special. Nobody wanted Rex as their HC, of course, so he stayed, as did Cameron. So here's my offseason.

First off, I uploaded my draft class from NCAA 09, so some of my draft picks are real people, but it messes up how talented they really are. for instance, in my game, I noticed laurinitis didn't get drafted till the fourth round. keep that in mind.

I started by cutting a whole slew of players to make room for a fresh roster. Edgar Jones, Corey Ivy, Jalen Parmele, Ogelsby, Bouman, copper all got the cut, as well as some others I can't remember. I franchised Ray Lewis and signed Suggs to a three year deal. I let Scott and Leanord walk. I then picked up Allen Patrick for depth at RB after moving Mclain back to Fulltime FB. I signed Charlie Fry for depth. I signed Kemeotu from the steelers for depth at guard and moved Hale to Tackle to fill the spot Anderson left. I missed out on Burres in FA, so I picked up Reggie Williams. Also I picked up Adam Jones. I then traded Mcalister, as well as a 4th and 5th round picks to the Raiders for Derrick Burgess and a 5th round pick. I then used the number 10 pick in the draft to select the top corner. 2nd round I drafted Scott's replacement. my next pick I drafted the top TE available. I then drafted Heyward Bey (who was available becasue of what I explained.) and used a pick on a Tackle I dind't sign. my last pick was used on Sean Smith out of Utah.

after signing all my picks, My first round corner was a 91. my MLB was an 83. the TE was a 79. Heyward Bey was a 68 (87 kick return) sean smith was a 58, so i moved him to safety (60). that was my draft.

my final roster now looks like this.

It blows that they dropped McGahee that much. From 93 to 84? Especially with the way he ended the year. That TD run vs cowboys, a 40yd run dagger vs the phins, 2 TD's in the AFC title game. Now there's no longer a feature back, and McClain is too slow. The only bright spot on offense is Flacco. He develops into the 90s after 2 seasons.

Defense on the other hand is beautiful. I love doing superstar mode and creating a CB and being drafted by the Ravens. Being on that defense with Scott, Ngata, Pryce, Ray, Reed, McAllister, and Suggs.

Did you adjust your coaching strategy?

You need to monitor where your D ranks against the pass/against the run and adjust accordingly. Same w/ the O.

Well like I said I have been updating the rosters through FA. I started a new Franchise with the Ravens and since I have the 2009 roster, I simmed 2008 so I could get going with the 2009 Schedule. I simmed the 2008 season with the new free Agent signings(up through Matt Birk and the release of TO, funny thing is the 49ers picked up TO) and I wound up with [b]10-6[/b], as a wildcard and faced the Chargers. I simmed that game and lost. Pittsburgh wound up going to the Super Bowl facing the 49ers! The 49ers BEAT the Steelers!

Question, how did you end up making through 7 years of Franchise without it freezing up. Are you playing Madden on PS2, or PS3? If PS2 I can see how. But PS3, I can't. The most I have made it on my PS3 is 5 years and that was with the Chiefs and than it froze. I had a Ravens Franchise where it Froze on me after ONE YEAR! My Dolphins franchise froze on me after 3 Years! Amazingly, all 3 franchises froze on me the year after I won the Super Bowl.

Does anyone else get pissed off at how bad the 1st and 2nd overall players are when you draft? Ill have the 5th overall pick after simming a year and ill get a top 5 LOLB and he'll be 74 overall after i sign him. This really pisses me off since actual rookies on Madden every year are far better.

I.E. McFadden 85 OVR, Jake Long 88 OVR, Keith Rivers 84 OVR.
