Anyone Watch The Final Episode Of One Winning Drive?

20 posts in this topic

okay, today i finally decided to watch the post AFC Championship game Rave tv shows that i tvoed 2 weeks ago. John Harbaugh made an awesome locker room speech after the game. i'll try to remember as much as i can. he said:

"Nothing is more dissapointing than where we are today. Nothing will make us stronger than where we are today. We are going to walk out of here today with our heads high, congratulate them on a great game, and wish them luck in the Super Bowl.(yeah right) We are going to be right back here next year. We are going to win a championship. We are going to be a dynasty. We will not stop at one. This is just the beginning. Does everybody understand that? Does everybody in here understand that?"

After hearing that, I'm convinced. Can't wait till next year!!!

I agree completely. I think that if in the off season we can maintain Ray Lewis, and Bart Scott, and maybe pick up Peppers(If we can afford it) and pick up a couple of good rookies in the Draft to help us out at CB we should be fine. Does anyone know whats going on with Chris McAlister? will he be healthy by next year? but if one or two of these things happen i think that we can make it to the Super Bowl.

i agree that we should keep Ray(please dont leave!!!!) and draft a corner and i also think that we should deep-threat draft a wide reciever like Derius Heyward Bey

Peppers is not a good fit for us at all. Not even considering the price tag, he is not really a 3-4 end, even though he is touting himself as wanting to play in a 3-4 defense. And I'm not sure he could make the move to an every down outside linebacker if he wasn't an ideal 3-4 end. Plus, he is like 280-290 lbs, not to great for a linebacker to have to chase down running backs in the flat. We already have the ideal every down outside linebacker in T-Sizzle, just lock him up.

I would imagine that CMac will not be back next year. Age has caught up with him, he can still play and has the mentality, not sure if he is physically up to snuff though, as seen in two consecutive season ending injuries. On top of that, he was about the only player who really seemed like he wasn't fully on board the new captain's ship. AND, cutting him gives us an extra $8 mil in cap space to help us resign guys like Ray, Terrell, Bart, and Jason.

We will probably target a cornerback in the 1st round to replace CMac (been hearing a lot about DJ Moore out of Vandy from the draft gurus as a possibility for us in the 1st) unless there is a great offensive lineman still on the board or even a wideout with bug upside like Hakeem Nicks. I would be fine with any of those possibilties.

I know this thread isn't about peppers but for those of you who honestly believe peppers would not fit in here...

Julius Peppers is one of the most physically gifted defensive players in the entire NFL. Ray Lewis is 6'1'' 260 lbs and he chases running backs down all day at will. Julius Peppers is 6'7'' and 280 lbs...20 lbs heavier but 6 inches taller...Julius peppers doesn't have a problem chasing down running backs in the flats when he's bending over with 1 hand in the dirt, so why would it become an issue when he's already standing up and has a head start on the ball?

Julius Peppers is a better DE than Terrel Suggs. Julius Peppers is a better defensive player than Terrel Suggs and if you disagree then you don't know much about football other than what the sports announcers tell you. I don't know where this sudden brain fog has come from but why does it seem like everyone has forgotten the force Julius Peppers brings to the game when he steps on the field?

Julius Peppers is a monster pass rusher and he plays coverage pretty well for a man who is 5 inches shy of 7 feet. Julius Peppers has a non stop motor and is relentless at chasing down the ball. He would make for an excellent 3-4 OLB. Look at the destruction DeMarcus Ware causes. Imagine Peppers coming off the edge, 1 on 1 with the tackle 30 times a game.

Terrel Suggs, Jarret Johnson, Ray Lewis, Julius Peppers
Bannan, Ngata, and Pryce

=

Best front 7 in the entire league by a landslide.

I'd rather have peppers than a WR because defense whens championships. I know people want the Ravens to improve their offense but if the other team can't score...then we don't need much offense anyway.

Peppers for president. Peppers for Mayor. Call the newspapers Julius Peppers is Superman.

It's a bus. It's a plane. It's...It's....Julius Peppers!

Defense wins Championships but a great 2 min Offense wins Championships as well. Steelers dont have a good offense but they have the ability to make that game ending drive to win the game, something the Ravens do not have just yet.

Yeah we need a big receiver that can catch jump balls in the redzone and the endzone. This past season, it seemed like anytime we got the ball into the redzone our offense had trouble punching the ball into the endzone, I believe this is where a big target at WR would really help.

Too bad Clarence Moore never panned out.

you know, i didnt know Clarence Moore was gone until I didnt see him in games anymore. Whats he doing now?

Harbaugh is going to get us at least 3 SB titles in the next 10 years with his philosophy. Too Bad for C-Mac. His knees are bad and he doesnt want to have the team first attitude. Im glad Harbs came in here and set everyone straight on how things need to be going. I think 2 more seasons of Brian Billick would have had our team in shambles. I mean if Billick stayed this past season you know he would have kept Boller. Who do you think we would have drafted at that time? Leodis McKelvin?

Sounds like someone has a mancrush on Julius Peppers. Hes never played linebacker before so for him to just switch midway in his career could be difficult. Dont kid yourself, hes not as fast as suggs.

You know what? I'm a bad Steelers fan, I guess. :(

Honestly, if the Steelers didn't make it, I want the Ravens to do well. I'd enjoy seeing you guys take some more rings, I really would.

Don't tell the people over on my Steeler forum, but excluding the weeks we play you, Go Ravens! :D

Specifically to the original post, what a great speech.
