How long has it been since the superbowl champs lost the first game of the next season?

It would be nice to start of the season breaking records ;)

That's being negative!

4th time is a charm, I mean everybody knows that.

I was wrong.

I wouldn't mind getting the Steelers early, even though it'd be in Pittsburgh. I don't care too much about the possibility of losing 4 times in a row; the only thing I'd be worried about is losing key players to injury early in playing such a physical game.

But, to be honest, it'd be sweet to spoil the start of Pittsburgh's title defense by defeating them on national television on the same night that the new championship banner (or whatever) is added to the stadium, and in their first real game since winning that 6th championship.

Weird, I was just talkin to my bro about that yesterday. I wouldn't mind that, but I rather have a home Monday Night game. Plus, Steelers are going to be riding high that game. No one wants to face them in the season opener.
Thursday night football doesn't start until the middle of the season
Actually, the past few years the first game of the NFL season has started on the Thursday before Week 1. Usually it's a marquee matchup between the defending champions and a rival team, making a Ravens-Steelers game a good possibility.

Anyways, I think that this would be an interesting way to start off the season. I don't think I could stand a fourth straight loss to the Steelers, but the thought of derailing their title defense is pretty sweet.

we will derail the steelers. we will have a healthy team back on both sides of the ball. they cant compete with us when we are 100 percent

Well, it's possible to have that Thursday Night game against the Steelers in Pittsburgh for the season opener, and still have the home Monday Night game later in the season. It's not an either/or proposition, and chances are, with how the last three meetings have gone, the NFL would be more than willing to make that happen.

nooooo!! its impossible to pick between them!! pats are my fave team, but i (obviously) have a soft spot for the ravens.
steelers-ravens is a better idea, but not a great one.

That would be interesting. I mean we had Giants vs Redskins last year on Thursday Night. It makes sense to put Ravens vs Steelers on a Thursday Night on National Television, the way this rivarly played out in 2008, that would be one great way to kick off the 2009 NFL Season. I wouldn't mind it as long as we have the Steelers later on on MNF in Baltimore for the second game. I was thinking about looking at the schedule and trying to put the schedule together and see how close I get to the real schedule. Um..... I think that is a great Idea. I think we should all play "Guess the Schedule?", take the 2009 schedule and place it in an order that you think the Ravens will play which opponent, and we will see who comes the closest to being right. Anyone want to try it, here are the rules:

- Take the schedule and place it in the order which you think will resemble the 2009 Ravens Schedule.

- Must include which games will be either Monday Night Football, Thursday Night Football or Saturday Night Football, and Sunday Night Football.

- After you put the schedule down and its finished, look at it, and go down the list and predict the record the Ravens would have with your Schedule.

- Deadline to finish Posting the schedule will be a week before they release the Official schedule and you can adjust it all the way up to the week before the Announcement of the schedule release show.

P.S. Please be Realistic as possible with the schedule. I will post a new thread for this Game in the Ravens Talk Section.

Thanks. This is just for fun and something to keep us busy throughout the off- season.

Atleast, we'd get it out the way and have a bye week to look forward to, so we could finish strong.

I actually think we will play them in Pitt on MNF again. ESPN, seems to get a kick out of that matchup. <_<
