Free Agents

Who do you think the Ravens will pick up in Free Agency? Julius Peppers wants to play in the 3-4, and I've heard rumors about us persuing Anquan Boldin. Do you think we will be able to resign all 3 linebackers, Jimmy Leonard, Matt Stover, and our O lineman?

Do we need big name free agents in expense of our 3 LB's? Absolutely not in my opinion.

I think we should lie low in this free agency and keep our linebackers, by lie low I mean no Julius Peppers or Anquan Boldin or veterans that'll be gone in under 5 years. We're a good team that has issues at cornerback and wide receiver, but that doesn't mean we need to sacrifice key elements from our prestigious defense to fix those two spots. We have all our draft picks, let this free agency slide and save some cap room.

If letting Scott, Boller and Stover walk means we would be able to sign Peppers or trade for Boldin, then heck yeah we get one of those two.

Peppers would be a huge upgrade at DE, or if he wanted to play LB I'm sure he could replace Scott and have tremendous upside.
Trading for Boldin would be a no-brainer.

the only problem is if we trade for boldin we are obviously giving up someone important, who do we even have that would be worth the trade? If ray walks, that leaves us with a lot of cap room, sign bart and suggs, i dont want to say stay out of the FA market, look at lenarod, that was a great find, we dont need big names like peppers, boldin, tj, owens.....waste of money to have a team build around a player, get a young player and let him build around the team and the other players to bring out his strengths....just becuase someone is good on that team doesnt mean they will be good on ours.....EXample: Ray, obviously great LB, one of the best, but...thats because he is right beside top performers, they are all better than average, stick ray ray on a team with average LB and no history with that team (wich means lack of respect and leadership) and he will turn into just another LB

Bart is a MLB in the 3-4
Peppers i think would strictly be an OLB in the 3-4

Woops...forgot about Bart being MLB.
Well, how about moving JJ over to middle if Peppers wanted to play OLB?

Depending upon what happens with our three LB, i think we should lay low in free agency because we're about middle of the pack when it comes to how much money we have under the cap and i think one of the biggest UFA we need to re-sign is Jason Brown. I think its a different story if somehow we end up letting 2 out of the 3 backers go then i feel like Julius Peppers is a great option, but lord willin', that isnt going to happen. There's no need to try and move up in the draft, either. Take the best available cb/wr in that spot and go from there. Concerning Jimmy Leonhard, I love the guy but we also have to remember how good Dawan Landry really is. All you have to do is look at his rookie year. He's a bigger, more physical option than Jimmy and he might not be as big of a playmaker, but i believe he had 3-5 INTs, 3-5 sacks and over 80 tackles in his rookie season. Keep in mind we also kept two safties from last years draft on our roster (zbikowski and nakamura) I would love to keep both Leonhard and Landry, but we have a lotttttt of issues concerning signing our in-house players and it all starts with suggs, lewis, and brown.

As much as I'd love to have Boldin I'll think he'll remain in AZ. Fitz was willing to take a paycut to keep him. As for Peppers.. I think it's pretty much out of the question.Won't be able to sign all 3 LB'S as much as I hate to say this I see Scott and Suggs remaning which means enough money for Jimmy L. We Would still need a big time WO/WR. We really need to keep Jason Brown.. He's a huge part of the young O-line. Stover will most likley get re-signed. I don't think he's ready to retire esp. after being so close to a Superbowl. He has said he wants to win at least another one before he retires. We def. need to resign Sam Koch too.

I definitely agree we should take care of all of our own, but it does make me wonder how we're ever gonna win it all without a big-play receiver. Our offense always seems so inept and like they don't belong in playoff games.

Absolutely!! Lets not break something trying to fix something else....If Cap is going to be an issue with keeping Ray, Sizzle, and Scott, it is not worth any bought talent!

Are there any reciever spots that look good (that we can get) on the draft?

yeah this years class of WR isn't bad.. there arent going to be many calvin johnson type players every year out of college but at our spot in the first round we might be looking at darius heyward-bey from maryland among a few others with first round talent which wouldnt be a bad option.. hes big and can run like hell
