I Am The Master Of Madden!

Not really, actually I suck...

But I did just have a huge revelation that led to a 6 game winning streak and bring my record up to 9-9 from 3-9. Its this super crazy thing called "when-you're-on-defense-wait-till-the-other-guy-picks-his-play-and-call-your-defense-accordingly"

Lol, Im still a n00b at Madden and I would always pick a defense RIGHT AWAY based only on the down and distance. So if it was 3rd and short and I picked a blitz, that was great, except when we all get out on the field, come to find out there are 5 wr and the QB is in the shotgun and by the time I audible its too late.

The first game I started doing this(obviously any normal person would have known to do it from day one) I picked off Big Ben 4 times in a row and won 30-0, lol.

I pick my defensive play without any regard to personnel on the field. I figure, if I'm good enough, I can stop whatever the other guy throws at me (no pun intended.) I've done OK, but nothing to write home about.

when me and my bro used to play, both of us, would just click "ask madden", look at the choices, and then pick a play, all within 2 seconds, regardless of what the other was doing. recently I started waiting to see his offensive formation. If he'as not accusing me of "cheating", he's complainng about how long it's taking me to choose a play.

My philosophy on defense is basically come out in goal line formation, move you fastest linebackers to the exterior end positions, shift the line away from the tightend if there is one, and the end on the weakside always has a free rush. I put the LBs into short coverage and the DBs into deep coverage, so that way if I run into a block or my guys wiffs on the sack, I won't get burned too badly if it's a pass.

Same here,

I just got a new gamertag so that me and my brother dont share one no more and im 4-1 now....Stupid Giants.
Seriously, Giants Cowboys and Pats take NO skill to play with. Run an Iso and you get 5 yards almost every time no matter how good the D is with the cowboys.

3-4 D Cover 3 beats almost everything

Also use zone blitzes

Inside Zone is one of the best running plays and also the FB run but change the package so the RB becomes a FB and the TE is a WR in case you need to throw

Never press the coverage that only leads to TD's....

Best playbook is Denver

Always use Multiple D playbook

In online play, i choose my play regardless.. Im always using Ed Reed so hes normally in a zone bye himself o with the other safety preventing the deep ball.. What i've realized about ti is that when everyone else is playing man, and reed is in a short zone, i use him to run all over the field and cover whoever may get open.. A lot of online players like tot throw it your way if you're using the defensive back covering a wide receiver and it leads to a lot of INTs.. My record is 21-11

You like that play, too? lol. I only use it against the computer, 'cause the computer doesn't know how to beat it, for some reason...other than that, most human players I've played, are smart enough to beat it. The biggest weakness with that call is if you use it against a crossing route, in which case, the two linebackers over the middle can drift to either receiver, leaving the other guy open. And an inside post works well against it, if the offensive line buys enough time. The coverage is also vulnerable to curl routes, if the cornerbacks play the receivers too deep; the two outside linebackers are only covering the flats, so there's a good five yards of separation. If the receivers can maintain that separation when they turn on the hitch, that's an instant catch-and-go.

I don't know...I've used press coverage plenty of times, and it's worked OK for me. Maybe it's the calls you're using when you bring the corners in?

I stick with that one, too. I don't like defensive playbooks that are overly heavy in one formation or the other; I like having variety. I don't care if the Multiple D playbook is pretty vanilla, it's still good enough for me. And any Madden player worth their salt (not saying I'm one) can stop an opposing offense by the time they sniff the red zone anyway.

I use the multiple D playbook aswell. I pretty much use 3-4 or goalline on 1st and 2nd down and then 4-3 or goalline on 3rd down. I rock the 46 sometimes but I don't really like it because it's hard to get your LBs a free rush without completely exposing the middle of the field.
