Patrick Willis...

I don't like how everyone keeps saying we could trade Suggz for a defensive player, and our team would be much better. That is very stupid. But one kid I think would replace Ray Ray is Patrick Wilis. Look into him, he has pure talent, but is on a horrible team.
there is no way that san francisco is going to let him go. their defense is driven by this kid.
Basically. He's like a young Ray Lewis.

hes probably the best MLB in the league and hes like 23 or something

Okay, done. ;)

I never said we were going to get him, I said he's a player that would make the team better without Suggz. Maybe you should actually use your mind when reading something.

The funny thing is, if there was one defensive player not on the Ravens that I'd give that much up for, it just might be Patrick Willis.

I know linebackers are a dime-a-dozen (just like running backs are), but Patrick Willis is something special. He literally IS the 49ers defense, and he's been phenomenal in spite of his teammates' shortcomings.

To have Ray Lewis play alongside Patrick Willis would be a dream come true. Part of me wanted the Ravens to take a chance on him in the draft, even though there was no NEED for him at the time. I've followed him since his days at Ole Miss, and the kid does it ALL...he played hurt for an entire season with his forearm wrapped up and was still 6th in the nation in tackles!...

Yeah this is all a good thought
but.......
its pointless to say it because any team in the entire league wants Willis
its like saying oh man
I WISH WE HAD LARRY FITZGERALD
lets trade Derick Mason for him
.... not going to happen, talk about things that might actually occur

No disrespect intended, but we've had a lot of heated arguments because of people making comments similar to yours.

So, respectfully, I have to point out that if you don't wish to discuss the topic, you don't need to dismiss its legitimacy in the process. The original poster was simply pointing it out as a hypothetical situation, and nothing more.

Besides, it's the offseason for the Ravens now. If you do not have a topic of your own that you'd like to contribute to the board, then you cannot criticize others for simply trying to make their own contribution, no matter how small or insignificant.

Im just saying that its probably 1 in a billion chance that we somehow land patrick willis
and its pretty much a pointless thread and makes us look like the most unintelligent fans(even worse the raider fans)
we cant and wont get every great player out there
i just dont understand a thread like this
you might as well make one saying
Patrick Willis is really good
pointing out the obvious like this is not needed

You have a point, but at the same time, it's the offseason. If you stick around, you'll find that there's not a lot to talk about, outside of the draft/free agency and training camp. Even then, it gets VERY redundant. And trust me, training camp is not as appealing to discuss as you'd think... <_<

But like I said, if you disagree with the thread's creation and do not wish to discuss the topic, there's no need to air your grievances. It only causes others to be confrontational, and that's not something we want or need on this board.

And besides, every fanbase talks about players they covet and wish they could get. It's nothing new.

The 49ers wouldn't allow Patrick Willis to go anywhere, the man is a beast. We need to try like all of our chips to get him and I'm sorry but I think we can do well with drafting someone that Ray Ray can teach. I just hope Ray comes back because it will almost be as heartbreaking as when Ripken retired :/

I think the fact that Mike Singletary has personally taken an interest in Willis since coaching him at the Senior Bowl, will definitely ensure that he remains a 49er as long as Singletary is there.

Singletary himself has called Willis the "next Ray Lewis." If the man says it, I believe it.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. If we got Willis, I could care less about Suggz (.... Okay, not really :P) because Ray could mold him into a Ray V 2. I'm just saying that the only LB that is worth more than Suggz on defense (that we can afford) is Williss.

Yeah, I even saw him quite a few times, since his daughter went to my school. Pretty cool guy. B)

It's funny how other teams' ruder fans like to make fun of Ray Lewis for his pre-game dance and the murder charges. And yet, most of them would probably take him on their team in a heartbeat. Even at his age now.

Too early to tell, but with this guy, it's a pretty safe bet.

Patrick Willis is good
but i think Jon Beason is just as good if not better look at the stats
and i think hes better at stoping runners head on
Willis is more of a sideline to sideline guy

I agree. Plus, stats don't tell the whole story. Willis racks up tackles and is a great player but he isn't really surrounded by a lot of defensive talent. Jon Beason plays on a Carolina D with a some very good veteran players and yet he is already the leader and has been a star since his rookie year.
