Would You Hate Rex Ryan

31 posts in this topic

He offered Ray Lewis a ton of more money then us and Ray went to the Jets?

I think i would still like him cuz he's trying to establish his team. But to take the face of our franchise? that's Ray's decision to go or stay.

No I couldn't hate Rex Ryan, unless of course the Jets would beat the Ravens in the Championship game, then the gloves come off!!! I don't hate Marvin Lewis, but I'm far from a fan of the Bengals.

Rex Ryan, have a great season, but should the Ravens and Jets paths cross, we'll kick your butts. No hard feelings?

Im guessing this is a rhetorical question because I can't see it happening at all. With the Jets cap situation they can't afford a big name FA. Ray's value to us is going to be at least twice as much as it would be to any other team so we wouldn't let that happen. If anything Rex would try to grab one of our younger FAs (ie Suggs/Scott) as opposed to Ray who wouldn't help them in the future

But would I hate him? eh maybe not hate i'd defiantly be upset but I would be if did that to any of our players

Yeah I think I would. This may be a business but for him to do that to an organization thats responsible for him being where he is in the first place would be like stabbing them in the back. He knows how valuable Ray is to us. That said, if we don't make much effort to resign Ray or make a lowball offer then I would be ok with Rex giving Ray what he deserves. I wonder what kind of compensatory pick we would get for losing Ray?

Now that I think about it you're right. I wouldn't hate him I'd just be upset. Anything after that would probably depend on how well the transition goes with his replacement. haha

off topic-How is Ray not used right here? They drafted Ngata to pretty much take 2 blockers away from every play so Ray can get in on the tackles...

I already don't like him. If Ray leaves the team, I wont like him, until he retires. That's final. If your not on tha Ravens, I dont like you.

I think he means as opposed to going some where else. Its obvious we know how to use Ray the right way and the only other team that probably would utilize him the best would be with Rex and the Jets....

I don't think that will happen, but football is a business... I would never hate Rex, he was good for our team and he deserves his shot at head coach.

I could NEVER hate Ray Lewis. He is the best linebacker to play the game and he gave his heart and soul to this team. I think Ozzie will find a way to Ray Ray here, where he belongs

That, and I'm indifferent towards Rex Ryan leaving anyway. That's not to say I don't appreciate his service to the team, but it's not as if I value his contributions over that of the actual players.

Granted, he's the reason why a good number of them have had the success they've had to begin with. But, Rex Ryan is not the reason why I love Ray Lewis. Rex Ryan is not the reason why I love Ed Reed. Rex Ryan is not the reason why I love the Baltimore Ravens. I love the Ravens for who they are, not who they have.

With that said, if Ray Lewis were to leave, it'd be hard for me to have any ill will or view him as a traitor. It's a business, and things happen. That'd just mean I'd have to root for Lewis to suceed individually, in addition to the Ravens as a team. Until they play each other, of course.

But, we'll deal with that when the time comes. The offseason for the Ravens is still young.

I will be on the side of Rex Ryan as long as his team is not playing vs the Raven's and the same for Ray if he is not a Raven next season.

I don't know if I'd ever hate him but as far as caring about him either way, that sort of ended when he was no longer a Raven.

I'm a fan of the Team not the Stars, Players, or People.

Don't worry, this would never happen. Even Ray knows that it would be a "dead end" in New York. They don't even know who is starting at QB and they have zero prospects right now.

Funny though, it kinda sounds like a team that went 11-5 last season.

But I don't see lightning striking twice here.

i wouldnt hate him cuz in 2-3years he'll be back i dont think its going to work for him in ny cuz of the qb situation and there players on defense aint nowere near the talent on our d so he might have a rough 1or 2 years and everyone knows all ny teams want to win now not three years from now and one more point his coaching staff aint the strongest with the people hes hired already thats why john was successful here he put together one of the best all around staffs in football .

I kinda see Rex taking Bart Scott over Ray (if he takes any of our LBs that is) simply because of the longevity factor. If he's establishing his team then he's gonna want as many positions set in stone as possible for the next few years. Besides, don't the Jets still have Vilma? unless i missed info on that subject, having Vilma and Scott at LB would be a VERY solid core for their D.

Chances are, if he were to ever get fired in NY, that he would be offered a head coaching job elsewhere. The chances of seeing Rex Ryan in Ravens gear in the near future is slim to none.

The Saints aqquired Vilma last year. They still have a prospect OLB in Gholston.

I wouldn't hate either of them. I'd be disappointed, certainly, probably even upset to see Ray go because he's such a prominent part of the team. It would be like Led Zeppelin without Robert Plant. Well, okay, maybe more like without Jimmy Page. At any rate, he's something emotionally important, not to mention an awesome player that would be an asset that any team would be loath to lose. And the awesome player part is exactly why I wouldn't be surprised but would be a little put out if Rex were to bring him to NY.
