Steelers Have Just As Many Hard Decisions To Make As Us On D

9 posts in this topic

they may not have a free agent problem like us but their front 7 on D is just as old and they will need to be finding replacements soon. so im not worried about us falling far behind them. these are the ages of their starting D players. secondary wise their fine.

LE-Aaron smith-32
RE-Brett Keisel-30
DT-Casey Hampton-31
LOLB-Lamarr Woodley-24
MLB-James Farrior-33
MLB-Lawrence Timmons-22

They are like us, though. They plug and play on defense as well as anyone. The next man up will step into their defensive tradition, just like players in our system do.

LE-Aaron smith-32 - Under Contract and still productive (although, his son has cancer and he may wish to leave for that reason)
RE-Brett Keisel-30 - Under contract and still productive
DT-Casey Hampton-31 - Under contract and still productive
LOLB-Lamarr Woodley-24 - Under contract, very productive and only in his second year starting.
MLB-James Farrior-33 - Resigned at the beginning of the year (will retire a Steeler). Defensive leader. Hasn't lost a step.
MLB-Lawrence Timmons-22 - Will likely take Footes job next year (Foote likely to be released)
ROLB-James Harrison-30 - Age means nothing with this guy and he's still under contract.

We are 20 million under the cap after this season if I'm not mistaken. Here is our FA list:

Charlie Batch QB - not sure
Carey Davis FB - probably resign
Nate Washington WR - probably leaves
Trai Essex OT - Not sure
Marvel Smith OT - retires?
Max Starks OT - need to keep him
Willie Colon OT - Man, I hope he goes
Trai Essex OT - No idea
Chris Kemoeatu OG - better keep him

Andre Frazier LB - not sure
Bryant McFadden CB - Hopefully a keeper
Anthony Madison DB - not sure, but he's been pretty good.
Anthony Smith FS - not sure what happens, or if I care.

The guys in RED (IMHO) are important to the team.

Well, I think his comments were taken out of context. But, he does tend to bite on the play-action about 90% of the time. I trust Tomlin and LeBeau to make the right decision about him. He's definitely not getting Ryan Clarks job any time soon.

Of course you do. Just like we think the Sugg's "Hines Bounty" was taken out of context. And getting Ryan Clarks job of what? Illegal hits? Just playin with ya Warden. You know I kid :D Good luck in the Superbowl! But then I could be kidding about that too! :P

Actually, I think Suggs comments were taken out of context too (and he was led into that disscussion just like Smith). I just enjoy yanking the occasional chain as much as the next guy....or girl. ;)
