How Long Before The Bitterness Goes Away?

Well that's a bad attitude. Where's the love for your division champs?

It goes away. Seems that at my work at least most Raven fans have settled and everybody's now looking forward to next year more optimistically than any other year before, and for good reason. As for the handful of Steeler fans in my work unit still wanting to rub things in, I tap them on the shoulder and whisper in their ear "STFU." That's one of the perks of being a boss. ;)

As for me, I'll change the avatar after the SB and stick around if you all will still have me. I've tried to be decent and respectful leading up to this last game, and I really meant it.

Of all the fan boards, this is one of the best. As I said before, I feel really lucky being a Raven-Steeler half-breed. I think most other teams in the NFL are right now looking at both the Steelers and the Ravens and asking themselves: "How can we be more like them?"

For me it was gone about an hour after the loss. The season as a whole was way more than I ever expected and I truly loved and enjoyed the ride. Going into the season I was hoping for 8-8 and just wanted our young guys, mostly Joe, to develop. Once the season got rolling, obviously I hoped we could pull it off, but am I disappointed? I would say I was that we lost in the AFC Championship, that is always going to be a tough loss to swallow. But I am more proud than anything. Just think of all the great moments of the season and how bright the future is. If you go back to what you wanted before the season 9 out of 10 people have to be more than thrilled and I am one of those people. Next season the expectations will be greater, and a playoff birth is very realistic. To get to where we want to go it starts with the Steelers and knocking them off, similar to the Colts and Pats a few years ago. That is my hope for the upcoming season, and I look forward to several AFC Championship rematches with the Steelers in years to come. The future is bright, stop dwelling on the loss and look at the positive.

My thoughts on this loss:

I used to be a very confident Ravens fan. In 2006, we went 13-3. I tended to talk a lot of smack on other teams forums and always felt we were going to win. I was at the loss to the Colts. That game changed my football experience. I learned to not talk smack, and to just enjoy the games for what they were. Then, last year, we went 5-11. Despite our 4-2 start, everyone could tell it was almost a facade. We almost let the Jets and Cardinals surge late at home and beat us. Then, we went into a downward spiral to our 5-11 record. This year, to me, was about rebuilding. I thought maybe 6-8 wins at most. We ended up with 11 and made the playoffs. How many awesome memories has this season produced? Every year we have been good, we have had huge, memorable plays happen. Think about it. There were only a couple last year. This year? The Ray Lewis hit on Winslow. The Ed Reed touchdown parade. Suggs' two pick-6's. The back-to-back TD runs in Dallas to close out Texas Stadium. I went to Cincinnati this year and saw the Mark Clayton career game. It was incredible. I drove 11 hours to Nashville, TN to see us win that physical, close game. And to have it end when we were somewhat close to taking over that game hurts incredibly. I can't watch SportsCenter or NFL Network. I am actually getting into my Orioles state of mind earlier than I normally do. It will take a while for me to get over this. We won't see the same team next year, and that hurts because we have some real classy players and coaches on this team. But I am excited for the future, and I can't wait for free agency and the draft!

Go Ravens!

Same with me. That season and its ultimate outcome changed EVERYTHING for me.

And I'm with you, I can't watch Sportscenter or NFL Network just yet. Every time I turn it on, coincidentally, they talk about the Steelers-Ravens game. I'm just not ready to relive the game yet. I'm still angry over it, even though the new flash vid on the website (like I said earlier) took away a lot of the bitterness.

Before last weekend, I was gung-ho about everything football. I'd listen to anything on the radio, etc. After Sunday's game, I am repulsed by any football talk. I won't watch sportscenter, listen to sports talk radio, helll I don't even feel like watching the superbowl.

I have continued to talk about the Ravens, I guess that counts for something.

Let's just get this season over and start with the draft season.

Bitterness? The Steelers are representing the Ravens in the Superbowl. I can't imagine why any Raven's fan would be upset about the season the Ravens have had. But to answer the question, the bitterness should subside by March when free agency begins. Usually within the first week, the Ravens fans will know who is going and who is staying on the club. Then the draft day arrives like spring and hope is again renewed. Now a general picture of this year's Ravens team will come into focus. By summer, when camp opens up, those competitive juices will be flowing again and the desire to defeat the Steelers will be that much greater. That's what rivalries are all about. Representing the Ravens in the superbowl? Umm No.

That's like saying someone you hate is representing you when he's making out with your girlfriend/wife. This is partly due to your girlfriend/wife being the hottest thing around. So No, we don't want the damaged goods anymore. You can fight Arizona over her. But your not representing us!

We on the other hand, have already started looking for the hottest thing around next year, and maybe get in a dance. Because that's our Superbowl.

How? by stopping Warner and Fitzgerald? Good luck with that. Just dont see that happening. Besides Jesus and Warner are real tight, if there is a God it aint gonna happen.

Look I wouldn't root for the Browns or the Bengals if they were there, I don't even hate them, so why would I pull for the Steelers? I am tired of people saying that a Steelers win would make us look good. IT MAKES THEM LOOK GOOD. Yeah we want more of that please.
The Steelers are representing the Ravens in the Superbowl.
I thought they were representing the AFC? Or did they win the coveted and rare BRFC? Baltimore Raven Football Conference?

The Steelers don't really impress me that much, they barely got by us all three times. Our secondary was using third stringers in that last game, we played pretty much without a bye week, with a rookie head coach, a rookie QB, and youngest OL in the league. We were without how many of our best defensive players? I can't even count them all, yet the Steelers should have won these game more handily (if they are that dominant) IMO.

But they didn't.

Very nice worded & so true. The Steelers are our rival, plain & simple. Aside from that & on top of, the controversal way (the play in Baltimore & the Mason touchdown that we didn't get in the first game) we lost 2 games to them this year in the regular season makes it humanly impossible for me to root for them. and you know I don't even feel as though I'm that bitter about it...I'm extremely happy about how our season went this year, we have so much to look forward to next season. We have a quarterback & a defense, and really a team as a whole, that I am beyond happy to cheer for. and lastly I hope Kurt Warner gets another ring...he deserves it for what he has done for the Cardinals and the town of Arizona. I have friends who live there who said it is a completely different town right now then it was last year at this time. Arizona & their fans deserve this and I hope they get it.
