What Was Your Favorite Boller Moment?

95 posts in this topic

Since it's almost certain that Kyle is not going to be resigned, I thought I'd like to make a memorial for him, cuz whether we want to admit it or not, we've all got a soft spot for him deep down in our souls.

I think we all know what a "Boller Moment" is...and have been blessed with them bountifully over the years.

Which was your favorite?

I'll start it off.

Mine isn't very humorous when explained, it was one of those things you just had to see for yourself. It happened a few years ago, I believe 2005. I don't remember who we were playing, I want to say it was the Brownies.

So, he dropped back into the shotgun formation. Jamal Lewis was standing next to him, preparing to pass block.

When the ball was snapped, a LB came practically attached to the ball; he came through the line untouched. I swear to you I saw the fear of god in his eyes, and instead of scrambling he shoved the ball into an unexpecting Jamal's stomach (who was in his blocking stance) and ran behind Jamal. Being the tough guy he is, Jamal managed to hang on to the ball while he got lit up like a Xmas tree.

It was later reported that Kyle's black eye after the game was the result of him walking into a door. (ok I made that part up)

The TD pass against the Steelers in his rookie season. After the snap he slipped, fell down, he got up again, he scrambled to the left sideline, then scrambled back to the right sideline (or vice versa) and found a wide open target in the endzone for the touchdown.

Every one of his "tripping over his own feet" incidents, were classics.

But I can't forget the game he had against the Patriots. Boller looked like a beast.

His only fluke was that sole INT. Still, refs called a BS game! Best two games were Packs, and Pats. You can't disagree with that.

Ahh yes, that game was a beauty.

Just to clarify, I was looking for "Boller Moments"; a Boller Moment is when Kyle does anything incredibly stupid, inept or just plain funny.

God bless the guy, but there's no way he's leaving town without at least one more good thrashing.

I hope this isn't a Boller bashing thread. The guy was nothing but classy for our team, and he still is. He gives it his all, too bad everything he had to give wasn't helping us acheive our goals.

In all seriousness, his game against Green Bay. It was a monster game for any QB. I think he threw for over 300 yards and 4 TD's.

Other than that, I'm trying to forget the rest.

Awesome! That's a classic Boller moment! Well, except to be truly Bolleresque, it shoulda ended in a pick, lol.

ManI remember2 years ago he threw a bomb to D Williams in the endzone. It bounced off of a defenders helmet into D Wills hands. That Patriots game, whew Kyle was looking like he was shedding himself of bad play. I really feel bad that he got injured this off season because i think he would have faired out well with the offense. We may have made the playoffs with him. But theres a new sheriff in town and his name is Joe!

No, no bashing, please. We've done it to him enough over the years.

My intent is just to have a few laughs, and relive the "glory days" one last time.

I'm with ya. It's wierd because I'm trying to think about specific moments. But they all seem to blurr together for me.

1) Tripping over his feet.
2) Scrambling at the first sign of trouble (sometimes even running into an OL man)
3) Gearing up to throw a long bomb, where he picks a spot in the sky and throws.
4) Fumbles & INTS galore.

But nevertheless, I have always been a big Boller supporter. Given the right direction and supporting cast, who knows?

Beautiful...that's the best description of his bombs that I've ever heard.

Not to get off track, but I noticed something about Flacco. When he throws the deep ball, and gets a lot of air under it (I mean he throws it WAY up there) it is almost always completed.
When he throws a traditional long ball with a lower trajectory, it's usually overthrown or otherwise incomplete. And you can tell the instant it leaves his hand. Anyone else notice this, or is it just me?

I admit, it will be weird without Kyle. I hope he one day ends up coaching here

Favorite moment?

Probably the back-to-back primetime Packers MNF game and Vikings game. He was legit in those games. I'm still convinced Boller would've been a fairly solid QB if we ever had an Oline or WR to get the ball to. His career is very reminiscent of David Carr.

Agreed. Classic. Got to love the way he looked throwing deep balls.

Coaching as a what?

If he was a QB coach, he could demonstrate how NOT to throw warm-ups

True with Flacco. Sometimes his throws have that high arc. Both those are usually the ones that Clayton makes some moves just to make the catch. Those throws scare me. Those remind me a lot like Boller throws. I think its a coincedence that those are being caught.

Flacco's long lower trajectory throws are the ones that will make or break him as a strong-arm QB. At least I get a sense that when he throws one of these, we have a chance of a long pass completion. Whenever Boller threw, it was like mystery meat.

Let me take a moment to show Kyle that I really do love him and wish him the best.

He certainly has the arm strength. His accuracy has improved each year, to the point of being pretty respectable. He is tough, and fairly quick; quick enough to extend a play if he can stay upright.

If he ever gets the mental aspect of the game right, he could be very, very dangerous.

Until then, keep it coming. This is good stuff!

Yeah. When Boller threw, everyone would stand up and say, "PLEASE NOT AN INT!!!!"

With Flacco, everyone stands up and says, "C'mon, TD baby!!"

I agree. The sad thing is that its the only two games that we can remember where he played well in. Four years in the league and two great games. Thats it! No playoff games either.

Pretty sad!

That sums it up pretty well right there. You always had your hands over your eyes when Boller threw long. With Flacco, you're waiting to see who catches it.
