RAVENS FANS IN THE TAMPA BAY AREA, LISTEN UP! IT IS TIME TO GEAR UP FOR THE 2009 SEASON AND BEYOND. THERE ARE MANY FANS IN THE TAMPA BAY AREA THAT DO NOT HAVE A PLACE TO GATHER. I WOULD LIKE TO START THE PROCESS OF ORGANIZING A GROUP (ROOST/NEST) FOR THE TAMPA BAY AREA. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, PLEASE CONTACT ME VIA EMAIL (ravens52@tampabay.rr.com).

I LOOK FORWARD TO RECEIVING MANY GENUINE RESPONSES. PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION.

THANK YOU!

Ravens52 I tried to contact you and I am not sure if you got my message or not...

Here is my suggestion and please take it for just that, a suggestion...

Start with finding a suitable meeting place for people in the area...this might be difficult as the Tampa area is in the same size catagory as the greater Baltimore metro area and they have numerous Roosts...Unfortunately it's likely what ever place we decide on someone is going to be left out and have to drive a bunch to get there...I've wracked my brain on that one and I don't have a good suggestion on that...

I think once we get people meeting on a regular basis maybe then we should make the next step to incorporating into a Roost or Nest...afterall I think most people would be just happy to having a place we can meet and talk to people with like interests...mainly the Ravens...

So, maybe we get an idea of who is where in the area without people compromising details...say...

North Tampa area (including areas like North Tampa, Temple Terrace, Lutz and any area north of the city)
Central Tampa area (the city, Davis Island and the like)
Western Tampa bay area (this would be for folks on the coast like Clearwater, St Pete and the like)
Eastern Tampa bay area (Brandon, Riverview, Plant City and areas eastern like)
South Tampa Bay (anything south of the area )

If we can go from that we can list some sports bars and see what people would be willing to try...we have from now until September to chew on it...and I am more than willing to have others jump in on this...I am not looking to lead...just throw some ideas out

I think according to the Chamber of Ravens Nests that you need 25 people to start an Associate Nest which is what you would be if you went in that direction. There are associate Ravens Nest in Murells Inlet, SC, Fresno, CA and Richmond, VA. An associate Nest is one that is more than 50 miles from Baltimore. The Council of Ravens Roosts also require at least 25 people, but they don't really have anything long distance unless you consider Ocean City or Fenwick Island, DE a long distance from Baltimore. I agree with you that you should first find a bar to watch games, if you can get a private room for your group, the better.

Thank you Nightman! Good info once we get to that stage in development. We have at least one person in the area with experience of being in a Roost in Maryland so that should be of help as well.

I think once football season gets close again the interest will rise and people will want to look into this more but right now with the season ending I think interest seems to have waned a bit...No worries!

ALWAYS looking for people in the TBA that are Oriole fans as well! *S*

I'm in North Tampa (New Tampa) and my folks live up in the Villages (near Ocala) and come down for the big games. I know a few others in Tampa and a handful in Ft. Myers.
