Considering Kelly Gregg and Dwan Edwards are coming back, yes, Marques Douglas will be let go. We have to many needs going into next season to keep 6 DL on the active roster.

Ngata, Bannan, Gregg, Edwards. Those are the main guys. Marques Douglas is the odd man out. He might get carried on the practice squad; even then another team would most likely pick him up, but the only reason we acquired for him was bcuz Gregg went down bcuz he didnt recovery from surgery properly and Edwards got injured in camp. Why else do you think we went after him and kept McKinney around? Plus we already have Kelly Tavalou and Salomon Solano in the works, grooming them to become studs.

That's 8 DT in total. Edwards is 27, Tavalou is 24, McKinney is 25 and Salomon is 23.

Douglas is 31.

Edgar Jones was on the chopping block when cuts were made. Heap was injured, Sypniewski was put on IR, Wilcox was still recovering from his foot surgery and we were pressed for TEs. If you recall it came down to Jones and that QB that we tried converting into TE. But Edgar had more upside bcuz he could play 2 positions so we kept him and cut the other guy. Next year if Quinn, Heap and Wilcox are healthy then Jones would only serve as an OLB and we already have enough LBs. His only shot at remaining on the team would be to play ST. With new draft picks coming in fighting to stay on the team ST is gonna be their only chance and if there is a player that really catches the eye of our coaching staff then there is no need for Jones. No purpose in carrying him. Just bcuz he's a good ST player doesnt mean anything. We let Gary Stills go and he was a ST Pro Bowler. And the only reason he has had any success on ST is bcuz Tavaras Gooden was injured. If he was healthy we wouldn't even be talking about Jones right now.

Burgess is an incredibly smart cerebral LB. He may not be the fastest backer in the league but he makes up for it in smart decision making. If it came down to him and Jones well Burgess would win.

And about PJ daniels, I like to be optimistic about the guy. He's a really good back and he has a ton of speed plus excellent hands. If he's healthy I don't see the Ravens letting him go. He'll at least be an excellent practice back. Jalen Parmele is an interesting prospect but PJ Daniels IMO has the most upside between the 2.

So...

Yeah, interesting...
Why would you ever think Wilcox's job is guaranteed or P.J. Daniels job for that matter? Both are injury machines. Edgar Jones is a far better option at TE, OLB, NT, DE, ST than TE Wilcox because of youth and versatility. P.J.Daniels is definitely on the bubble, he's not contributed a thing to the Ravens cause other than taking up space on the injured list. Tavares Gooden? Special Teams? No one ever got to see what Gooden would have contributed to ST, he was IR'd long before the start of the season.
Think about it. Most teams don't carry 3 qbs on their roster. The only reason we did this year was bcuz of all the injuries and bcuz Joe Flacco was a rookie. Todd Boumon isn't really that important. You may think he was some kinda mentor to Joe Flacco giving him all sorts of advice but what kind of advice can a career back up give to a career starter? What experience does he have? Sure he can show him the ropes but that's about it bcuz other than that he's never been in the ring b4. Hue Jackson was the reason Flacco had a great season. Not Boumon.
I don't agree with you at all, but I see your argument as legitimate. Regardless of whether he has been a starter or not, Bouman has been in this league for over a decade, so in my opinion there isn't much of a question as to whether he provides insight... The only qualm with keeping Todd on the team is that he does take up a roster spot, but I'd rather have him than a Daniel Wilcox or Edgar Jones. Heap/Syp should be sufficient for any given week.
Plus why waste a roster spot on a 3rd qb when it could be used to keep a 5th safety (jim leonhard)?
Personally, I don't think it's worth getting in a bidding war to keep Leonhard.
