[News] Ravens Hold 2017 State Of The Ravens For Suite Owners

14 posts in this topic

The rich keep getting richer. My "emotional investment" is only tied to $100 jerseys, $350 seat tickets and $9 beers I guess but I can guarantee you that many of the Suite holders and lower tier 50yd line seat holders sit on their hands during games. If you want emotional investment, sit in the endzone seats! Those folks are passionate! Where's the love for the Decibel gang?

Those suites generate a lot more profitability for the team than your tickets, jerseys, or beers ever will.

As is the case in ANY business, those who contribute the most to the bottom line are treated better.

And by the way... the bulk of those $350 tickets you're likely paying to a broker, not to the Ravens.

I'm a season ticket holder who sits in the endzone and yeah most of the people on lower tier 50 yard line seats are sitting on their hands or looking at the video boards.Next time you're at a game watch them

OK, not sure what this has to do with anything I said though.

Not ANY business, Only the ones that are greedy, which is MOST businesses but that doesn't make it right.. I own a business and it ticks me off when someone tries to use money to sway me,They get booted right out. Ya, I'm not rich probably because of it but they can't take away my integrity.
You should never treat anyone better just because they give you more money. It's what got this country into the trouble we're in. It's how senate seats are won, it's how corporations can rape the little guy with impunity. All men are to be treated equal. I don't remember there being a "the ones with more money" added to that but I guess we should rewrite the history books again. And, as far as the broker thing goes, same thing goes for them. It's sad and it needs to change and until we stand up together, it will only get worse until the whole thing collapses. It happens to every major society in history, it's just a matter of how long it takes.

Well actually in this case it has very little to do with greed. Its mostly just a perk for a consumer who invests more money into the business than others do. And without those investments, a lot of the things fans take for granted at a football stadium would cease to exist. Some of the things other fans who pay $100 to get into a game get to experience, such as upgraded bathrooms, escalators, elevators, etc. are partially paid for by those rich people who buy those suites. So in many ways, you should be thanking them for some of the amenities that you get to experience in your gameday experience.

I for in obviously don't believe that everybody should be treated equally, mostly because its pretty clear that not everybody is equal. There's varying levels of skills, education, intelligence, and overall value to society. Some people are very valuable members to society, and others just skip through their lives with virtually no meaning or purpose, and certainly don't provide much societal value. It actually makes me laugh to think that those two people are supposed to be treated equally, when they themselves don't even treat society equally.

As far as brokers go, that's a product of a capitalistic society, and if you start down the path of trying to avoid those types of situations, then its probably time to head to another country all together, because those principles aren't going away, nor should they.

You have some very valid points here and I understand the way things are, it is what it is and yes, there are many who do not deserve some perks in life and because of their skipping through life with no meaning or purpose, they do not get to share in all things however, many times, it's not just a matter of how hard a person works, it's what schools they can attend or who you know. If your parents can afford a private school then send you to an Ivy league college, your chances are better at getting a good education which can result in higher paying positions and better opportunities but if you don't have wealthy parents and live in a lower income neighborhood, a single mother, a family that has a child with medical issues and the like, the only jobs available to you are blue collar, you do what you have to do and it is no less noble or society improving so in many ways, they should be thanking the lower income families that allow them to sit on their pedestals.
Also, I have found that the more money you make, the less you are inclined to be involved in societal value anyway. Society is ALL people, not just the rich ones. Many of those in the suites, sit behind glass, away from those "lesser people" who built that suite in the first place.
Without the blue collar worker, the teacher, coal miner, factory worker etc., many rich people wouldn't be able to survive on their own. Their money comes off of the hard work of others. The streets are paved by them, the schools and stadiums are built by them, their expensive cars are built by them. We need ALL people.
Also, heading to another country, while enticing to some, would not change anything because it's not just a USA thing, it's world wide and also takes more money than those without it can afford.
I'm sure we could have hours of great conversations on the subject. I'm not a hater and don't believe I'm right about all things but I do like a good debate :-) It's one way we can all come together to make a better world for everyone, (as long as we don't go to war over the subject).

Not disputing the concept of not needing blue collar workers... that's obvious.

At the end of the day, its all just one big circular economy. Those suites were built by laborers... who were paid to built those suites. The money those laborers were paid will lead to them investing that money back into the economy, in the form of consumer purchases (food, clothing, shelter, luxury items, etc.). The laborer needs the big corporation for employment so that he can be paid, and he also needs the big corporation to buy food, shelter, clothing, etc.

Same thing applies for the "rich person". Its all one big circle.

What drives me insane is when "blue collar" worker whines and complains about the cost of goods or services, using some terrible logic that things should just be cheaper just so he can afford them. Affordability is an individual person problem, not a product/service problem.

If nobody could afford a product/service, the supplier of that will lower the price to a level that it becomes profitable to sell them. That's how economics works.

Yes, what you say is true. I guess, the right thing to do is probably more in the middle of both our points. It's when either side gets too extreme that things go awry.
I've come from a poor military family to where I am today through hard work. I'm middle income now but it took me decades so I see both sides.
I don't deny anyone from making a profit, it's how our system works.

Diamonds are a prime example of the kind of profit greed I speak of.
There are more diamonds than the companies actually put on the market so they hold back 50% of what they have on hand to drive the price up. Smart way to make lots of money but it puts a higher value on them than they are really worth. If they put all the diamonds that they kill poor people for, on the market as fast as they have the workers digging them up, diamonds would be worth about the same as a pet rock or Chia-pet.
Everything is made in China for pennies on the dollar. The Chinese live in squalor while some fat cats get rich beyond many folks dreams. This also kills the small business here in the U.S. because we can't compete with them. It's why all the large companies are moving to other countries and failing the U.S. citizens that helped them get there in the first place and don't get me started on Wal-Mart.

We send our troops into Iraq with Humvees that have no armor and folks get blown up when I think, we should have enough money to outfit them better with the largest spending and highest technology military in the world. Especially when you realize, they're getting blown up with many weapons we sold the enemy to begin with.
I think it's cheaper just to get another new soldier. That's the plight of the blue collar worker.
