[News] Late For Work 5/3: First Look At Marlon Humphrey In Madden

27 posts in this topic

I expect Siragusa to win the OG spot, and kick Lewis out to RT. They talk about him like hes big mauler, great run blocker. Hes the reason Donnel Pumphrey got all those thousands of yards. He will need work in pass pro, but as a big mauling beefy run blocker hes already there.

I see it like this, Stanley, Yanda, hopefully Mangold, then Siragusa, Lewis

In order to make the postseason the Ravens have to dominate on defense. A make shift Oline, an average QB, and one quality WR will likely spell and brutal year for the offense.

Good to see Ben Watson back up and about. I am very interested to see what he can bring to the table after the injury, especially given his age. At the very least, I think he is a good locker room presence and will be able to work with young guys like Boyle, Williams and even Gilmore.

I can't figure out why Urschel hasn't quite materialized as a true starter yet. Clearly he's got the brains to be an O-line guy (as they are typically the smartest guys on the field by a long shot) and his size isn't terribly small. But something is holding him back still. Would really love to see him become the starting center.

Yanda already said he wants to go back to right guard.

I know there's been lots of talk about Boldin returning. I want to hear opinions on Victor Cruz coming in on a cheap contract with incentives to make more. He's only 30 years old.

I'd rather have Boldin for one year. Cruz has not been the same since he went down with an injury. Feels like "Q" is younger at 36 then Cruz is at 30. jmo.

Maybe Tucker kicks 5 FG's every game and with a solid D we can pull off a number of 15-14 and 15-10 wins. (sarcasm....to a certain extent)

Sources close to the Giants organization almost all say Cruz has nothing left in the tank, and is no longer anything like he was in his better days.
His case is similar to Dwayne Bowe's, formery of the Chiefs: a permanent fixture for years, productive, reliable - but his body has broken down and his athelticism has gone. It may be worth bringing him in for a look... but I don't think it's wise to expect anything. His NFL career may very well be over.

Yanda will likely return to the right side, where he normally plays.

Him playing LG last season was a product of his should injury.

Don't sleep on Stephane Nembot. I think he will make a serious push for RT. If we don't pick up Mangold C will be Jensen Siragusa or The Brain

Don't forget Matt Skura a UDFA and practice squad player from last year as our center. He's been around for a year, hopefully has gained bulk and knowledge. He was considered one of the better UDFA signings from last year's group. I see the Ravens picking up a veteran Tackle since most of our players vying to be a starter seem more inclined to be a G or C. I think Lewis can switch to right tackle, but he looked good at LG and worked well with Stanley

While I feel that Siragusa probably has the inside track to move into the LG spot, it should be remembered that the Raven's won't just give him the position, he needs to come into OTA's and training camp with a chip on his shoulder and make the coaching staff believe that he is NFL ready. My guess is that him and Bowser have a really decent shot at getting starter positions, Humphrey receiving a lot of reps to see how NFL ready he actually is (and prepping him in case J. Smith has yet another injury), Wormley goes into the D line rotation, Eluemunor is a project, Chuck will fight for a special teams role. The wild card is going to be Tim Williams. Guy is nasty, could push Bowser/Judon for the other starting OLB across from Suggs, but will definately see some action on passing downs. Should be some fierce competition on the defense to see who deserves the most playing time. And I agree that we will probably sign a veteran o-lineman in any case, either to come in and start (Mangold?) or at least have more depth when the injury bug hits.(and based on the last few years, we all know it will...)

If intelligence and body weight were the only factors that determined a centers skill level, every team would have a pro bowler. I think it would be great if either Jensen or Urchel become starters this season, but I won't be surprised if they don't. Both of them were projected as 7th rounders coming out of college for a reason. And unfortunately that reason had to do with on field issues rather than off field issues.

TJ really seems like a great kid. Happy he had this experience at the draft. The Ravens should get Marlon to sign his draft card too. If he becomes a star that would be an amazing piece of history to have.

Man... TJ's story really hit me, you can just look at him and see how tough of a kid he is. Takes it right on the chin and keeps his head up. God bless him.

This is my problem with the Ravens draft moves a lot. If they have Nembot, Skura, Urschel, Jensen, Lewis, and they are all possible options, why are you wasting 2 picks on more lineman? Especially if they also intend to bring in Mangold. On one hand they are saying they have it all under control in house, and on the other, they are proving with their actions we are hugely deficient in the O line. it cant be both.

This is the year we need to have a couple or 5 players come outta nowhere like buddy Z-Orr did! This teams truly needs a youngster to embrace the challenge and take it to the next level. We have a bunch of young and raw O-Linemen and there will be 3 open spots to compete for since we know Yanda and Ronnie are day 1 starters. and as we all know, we have TEs for days so open competition all over the place just like WRs, CBs, DTs, DEs, and Special Teams. I just hope that injury jinx stays the hell away lol

I would say there are almost unlimited possibilities of combos on the line.
Stanley is almost the only guy who is locked in. I think Yanda will be either RG or RT, Lewis could be LG or RT, Urschel-Skura-Jensen-Siragusa LG or C, Nembot or Eluemanor RT. For instance:
Stanley-Lewis-Urschel-Yanda-Nembot
Stanley-Siragusa-Urschel-Yanda-Lewis
Stanley-Lewis-Siragusa-Urschel-Yanda
Stanley-Urschel-Skura-Yanda-Lewis

Yanda is NOT playing RT. It's that simple.

I love Q but I doubt he wants to come back. I'm driving the Cruz and Decker train at this point. They would both fill massive needs very nicely. I watched Cruz game tape on youtube just from last year. He still has it. Not to mention the fire and he's as good of a locker room guy as it gets too. He would add some nice fire to our lacking wr core

Nembot, Skura, Urscherl, and Jensen- going into the season relying on any of these guys starting would be a disaster. That's not to say that they can't. But regardless of position, you're always looking for the best players and depth. John will never be a starter. Nembot, maybe. Jensen and Skura are probably back ups but they're working on it.
We are searching for 2 starters for the o so very important oline. Using 2 picks on them is far from wasting picks. Huge need. Need quality and competition there

He actually met Marlon at the Hotel after the draft. I'm sure he did something for TJ. What an awesome story. So happy for him.

When you have two guys like Wallace and Perriman, you don't necessarily need a Cruz. You need a slot guy. A strong down the middle receiver. I just think that's Joe's Pitta connection. You don't see him hit many other guys in the middle. Aiken did some of that, but even he was unreliable. How many times did he get hit in the numbers and drop the ball? He'd still be here if he had been a more reliable connection.

Well, Urschel and Jensen will both be UFAs after the 2017 season, so they may only be here for another year.

Nembot and Skura, while I'm sure full of potential, are also UDFAs. The majority of those players never amount to anything. Even if we like them as depth, you're not heading into a season with two contract year players and two UDFAs and banking on them filling two starting roster spots.
