I hope these guys are quick learners. I'd like to see us disguise our Defenses like we used to, with everyone moving around until the ball snaps. Never knowing where the rush is coming from. We have the tools but do they have the smarts? We'll see.

when i saw pees pic i thought he had been fired. oh well!!

I have to say I chuckled to read your comment. I think Bisciotti is happy with mediocrity and I don't think any of our coaches are on the hot seat regardless of what the pundits and fans say.

Now that I've had a few days to digest our picks, I have decided that the Ravens just had too many holes to fill on both sides of the ball that the best way to address it is with an all in mentality this year on the defensive side. That would forecast a heavy offensive draft next year. I think that might have been the best approach as to the opposite, since the secondary and pass rush were the biggest weaknesses. I still feel like OJ Howard would have been the better pick at 16 though. And with the Humphry's reputation of getting beat deep, I just can't shake that.

I keep looking it up in the dictionary , so I know you are right , but this is the only place I can find where 'average' is such a terrible name.

"General Manager Ozzie Newsome’s decision not to use one of his seven draft picks on a receiver is a sign that the team has high hopes for Campanaro and Moore. “The Ravens will still add a receiver at some point before the regular season. However, they clearly believe that Campanaro and Moore are ready to become bigger pieces on offense,” Zrebiec wrote."

I sure as hell hope so, because I would LOVE to see that this team has gotten the monkey off its back as far as WR depth is concerned.

Take a breath,no one except New England wins the Super Bowl in May.Our Offense still is in the mourn-ing wig mode. Flacco needs a run tough 0-line that can make defenses think run on almost every snap so his play action deep throws can come back as good as when we(he) stopped using them because he was on his back too many times before&after mind numbing boring sam'ol,sam'ol ineffective running schemes.Mourn-ing wig is rather vanilla in his play calling schemes,a West Coast offense would be great,if we had a West Coast offense make up. 7-9 looking up at Steelers and Bengals on top. Patriots WIN!

They have a pretty good record of winning it in Feb as well.

That is high praise for Tim Williams. I know this much. Tim Williams excites the entire fanbase as to the possibility of a great pass rushing talent being acquired late in the draft. Now, its really up to the coaches to coach him up, inspire him to be the best by encouraging him, challenging him and getting the most out of him. If he is utilized properly he'll excel but if he is not, then he'll fail. Tim Williams is like the highest quality pliable clay and the coaches are the sculptors. If you wait too long the clay will be un-pliable and useless. So, use him well Pees and Harbaugh. Don't waste his talent like you did with Brown, Correa and Elam.

campanaro will most likely land on ir during training camp. would be nice to see what he can do if he stayed healthy.

Yeah, because owners that overreact and fire coaches with a ton of playoff wins and one losing season are the ones that are better than mediocre.....

So glad Ozzie and Co. will let us see the WR we have already saving a bunch of doe! The Ravens are not a rest haven for veterans! Dean Pees did good with our Defense last season #7 but bad play calling bad routes and Joe throwing lame ducks get our Defense over used and when they have one bad play we loose the game! Raiders jets and giant games I blame Joe and the play calling! Yup! Wanna be elite put the games away period point blank!

If the FO doesn't put together an OL that can give Joe time and open up the running lanes we will have another tough season no matter how good our "D" may turn out to be.

Put away the games, like scoring to go ahead in the last miniutes only to see the defense give up a late game winning drive leaving no time for a rebuttal drive? Like the Raiders game, like the Giants game, like the Steelers game, like the Redskin game, etc

Joe needs to play better and he will with an improved line and run game, he got better as the season went on which was encouraging. Camp doesn't stay healthy and has barely played, as it stands there is no possession WR on this team, I guess Pitta

Well hugely successful businessmen are notoriously content with mediocrity if mediocrity doesn't really affect the bottom line in a shared system like the NFL. Look at the Skins for example or the Bengals or the Raiders from a few years ago. They didn't care because their bottomline was unaffected by performance.
But, Bisciotti is a different breed that thrives on excellence and expects excellence so we're blessed.

Sorry, our Offense lost most of our games last year. The Defense won more than half of our wins. Look at the scores. We failed to score 20 points 7 different times. The number would be higher if it weren't for garbage time TD's against prevent defense.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't draft the best players and stack our defense. Flacco can't consistently win without a dominant defense or a stacked offense. Better to have one than none right?

I know I always complain about lack of weapons for our QB on here, I understand how the draft played out in regards to offensive playmakers available when we were drafting, I'm ok with picking the best available defensive player based on us not willing to trade up for an offensive star.

This defense needs to be elite, if we can build something similar to what enabled Denver to win the super bowl a few seasons ago we will do well. I'll come back and eat crow (on Reddit I guess? ;(   ) if this defense pans out. But, so far (caveat),  we have spent the majority of FA and now the draft on the defensive side when we saw severe flaws in our WR depth and O line play, our defense was the better unit last year overall albeit it contributed to losses by breaking down at the worst of times as it has so often without Lewis and Reed. All I can say is it better be great.

This is how I feel about our offense, but the defense got a lot better over the offseason. And we no longer have Wright. We could have a terrible offense and still go 11-5 or 10-6. We have done it before.

In hindsight, it's good we didn't draft a receiver high. We need to run the ball more anyway and another receiver would just make marty & joe go pass happy again. Plus outside the first 3 rounds I doubt there would have been a receiver that would have come in and changed things so please put the pitch forks down.

This defense will be very stout and may the best in the NFL by season's end. Pees finally does not have to be scared that the coverage will be blown due to poor play by secondary. Chris Hewitt's turn to prove that he was not the reason the secondary has been so trash since his arrival.

It's how the draft fell, our defense better be great, I'm excited for it no doubt.

Garrett......so, the Ravens didn't sign a LB in free agency or draft any? That's news. What position do you think Bowser and Williams play? Please don't say "pass rusher". They are linebackers.

I'm not sure how this will sit with many of you or what your opinions are, but what about Michael Floyd? I know he has been in some trouble, and is currently in jail I believe, but he will be out before the season. He definitely has the talent, size, but obviously there are concerns. He hasn't been as productive as he was expected, but if he gets it together and focuses on just football, he could be great again. We could use a WR like that...but he would definitely have to get his life together first and prove hes reliable. He is also only 27 years old...

Not sure if i'm following you correctly but Suggs and Doom are both linebackers that are pass rushers in our system.

The Raiders game, the Giants game, the Steelers road game - in all three the O put the Ravens in the position where all we needed was the D to stop their O one more time to win - and they failed. And if the Eagles don't go for 2 at the dyiong seconds of the game, the lowly Eagles would have put the game to overtime too.
Yep, technically this is still less than "most" of our losses, but it's not true that all the other 5 losses were due purely to the O.

I would say the true image was that we had a rather pedestrian O that could seldom rise to the occasion and a very good D with a knack of giving away close games at the very end.

I'll pass.  If the creative offensive geniuses in Arizona and then New England - the latter with the GOAT QB - couldn't make use of him, I give him no shot here.  The off the field stuff is merely the nail in the coffin.  Would rather take a flier on V Jackson, Boldin or Cruz.
