WR that FO can target via a trade

112 posts in this topic

I think Victor Cruz is a solid option to look at if we don't see any other cuts come in after June 1.  Last year was his first year back from that big injury and he started off pretty slow with only 15 receptions through the first 8 games, but in the last 8 games he had 24 receptions.

Otherwise the only real options out there are Boldin, Hawkins or Floyd (who we probably won't touch because of his suspension).

Possible players we could trade:

Correa

Maxx Williams

Gilmore

Taliferro (sp)

Carl davis

All have their own issues and may be time for a fresh start. Be similar to the trade of jerrnigan

Due to Dixon's 4 game suspension, we definitely need to keep Tali.

I wish we weren't so concerned with injuries and were flustered with cap so we could trade for, and then re-sign, Sammy Watkins. Imagine him across from BP for Flacco's remaining years. Sigh

Even with injuries, Watkins would require a first to pry away. Too much untapped potential in a very young player.

surely not given that this is a 1 year thing... no team is giving up a 1st round pick for only 1 year of an injury prone guy...

btw this is not me advocating us picking him up in a trade

I doubt it. What th them not picking up his option it won't take a first but I hope Ravens wouldn't give a first. I also think he's staying in buffalo at least this year cause they're also thin at WR.

I do do like the idea of trading picks for some proven players though. Gotta learn something from the pats

Cruz has pretty much 0 explosion left, and that was pretty much his whole game.  Pass.

That's what I'm saying. He ran routes and he ran them incredibly fast. He was a body catcher with zero sense of physicality and he made a career running deep slants.

What about martavis Bryant? Isn't this the second time he's coming back from a suspension? The steelers did draft JuJu which made no sense unless he's there to replace someone. Pretty sure Bryant is in the last year of his contract too.

4th round pick?

Lets be perfectly honest here. We are not going to get anyone worth talking about in a waiver wire. We need to make a trade ala boldin 2010.

I'd take the risk on sammy watkins. 2nd round pick..no question.

Almost certainly Sammie Coates is the odd man out but they'll keep him as long as they can before cutting him because of the drugs tightrope Bryant has to walk - also there's no way the steelers trade within the division unless they know Bryant's about to fail a test

pittsburgh has Antonio brown, martavis Bryant, Eli rogers, juju smith-schuster as their top 4 and I think Sammie Coates was overtaken by a couple of others because he couldn't catch the ball

so we aren't getting Bryant and I'm not sure Coates is worth anything given that we have enough deep speed guys with reliability concerns at the moment (not saying they won't improve)

How wouldnt either of those players make a difference if they could stay healthy and out of trouble?Josh Gordan was still making big plays in his most recent games last preseason against Grimes and Michael Floyd didnt miss any time so he should still be the play maker he was in arizona.Adding Floyd to what we already have would give us a very respectable WR corps. And most importantly, both of them would be cheap additions.

I would love to add Gordon but he still hasn't been reinstated

Floyd's always drunk and Gordon always high. I don't want them and pretty sure nobody from the Ravens does either.

Yeah I really don't see the point here.  We need a WR but not sure how 1 guy who has been suspended more than he's played in his career, and another who has 6 alcohol related offenses in his life, really helps us.

I'd give picks for him. It's worth the risk. But I wouldn't want a one year prove it deal, at least get him for 3 years so the dealt pick can be worthwhile. Hopefully he stays healthy. But it's basically selling out hoping we get one last shot at a super bowl. With the defense we have in place, we don't need to do any major rebuilding, just need a C, RT, and WR and we could absolutely contend every year. With our defense it feels like it would be worth it to sell out for another shot.

I think a 2 or 3 year deal with him that's mostly incentive based would be really good. Watkins, Perriman, and Wallace would be a good top set of WRs for the team, as long as they're healthy. I'd gladly give a third round pick to the Bills for him, the Ravens if could a good contract worked out.

I think the Bills would take a third round pick for him since it's higher than any comp pick, and it lets them have some type of guaranteed payoff since his contract is in the last year (they said they won't renew it for the 5th year option).

The bills gave up their 2012 first rounder and their 2013 first and fourth round pick to trade up and get him.Youre not getting him for anything less than a first and I think hes worthy of our first.

He is not worthy of a 1st right now. Can't stay on the field

No way he's not. Not with his injury history. If he was worth a first bills would have picked up his 5th year option. He has all the talent in the world but the best ability is availability

Sammy Watkins worth a 2nd Round Pick and If I were the FO, I would give it to the Bills. He is only 23 years old and for the first time in his career, he will have a good QB

Why would we trade any capital for a WR that has done nothing but consistenly prove he can't stay healthy??? (Watkins) We'll be right back in the same position with his injury and with less ammo to get another quality FA WR and/or draft one if we were to trade for him. I would rather give up a 3rd rounder or even a second depending on who for a good to great #1 guy. Dreaming I know..........

They aren't going to hold out for a first for a one year rental, regardless of what some past GM did to get him. And the Bills themselves obvious don't think he's worth that much if they aren't picking up his 5th year option. They're purposefully shortening his contract to move on from him.

bills could always tag watkins if he manages to stay healthy.

they could already be discussing an extension at a lesser price instead of waiting till he has a healthy season and his price going up.

they could also do what the pats did with butler by tagging him and have him look for a team that is willing to trade for him and sign him to what he is looking for.

picking up his option guarantees his contract for next season.
tagging only becomes guaranteed when he signs it which should buy both sides more time to figure things out.

deadline for signing the tag is somewhere in april i think
