[News] What's Up With Not Drafting Any Offensive Players? Ozzie Newsome Answers

Don't worry about it Ryan, just don't worry about it. We needed to address our defense OK. This is Ravens town, AKA defense. Just let the big boys handle business.

Good job Ozzie, and evrybyelse who had to do with us getting these phenomenal picks. Step one... address this defense. Next year we will add more to our offense.

I like every guy we picked, though I had us taking Lawson on stead of Bowser. I just honestly dont know enough about Bowser to make the determination, Obviously the Ravens do and made the proper call.

While it could have worked out different, I think the only guy who may have been BPA than Humphrey at the time was OJ Howard. Of course we can always wonder but there is no sense in that.
Hopefully Marlon shows us that he was the BPA and puts it on the field.

Meanwhile are 3 picks tomorrow to get some depth. It looks pretty clear now that the Ravens will add veteran help at O-line and WR through camp.

Ryan mink is stuck on WR smh. WR is not going to fix our defensive issue Ryan, defense wins championships kid. WR did not win the patriots SB's. It was team work and a heck of a QB. The man of the hour Julian Eldeman, was a 7th round pick!! So please let Ozzie work in peace please, thank you.

This offense will be offensive. The worst the Ravens have ever had for sure. Quite possibly NFL bottom 10 of all time. Acquiring Boldin and Mangold will make it even worse. Hopefully Ozzie isn't THAT dumb.

“Very, very strong defense” will not win us games, if we have very very weak offense, because shutting out opponents like we did in 2000 is virtually impossible in this time and age. However, you can be shut out if your offense can't protect the QB or doesn't have anyone to throw the ball to. And that's the situation we're in.

We might have the best defense, but our defense will be on the field for 80% of the time because our offense is a bust.

The most vital draft ever has turned out to be one of the most lopsided ones ever. In a year where we needed good balance more than ever, you can count it as a failed draft.

At this point, I see us starting strong on the backs of the defense only to lose out in the second half because the defense just can't carry the team the entire season. Another disappointing season and the end of Harbaugh era is the most likely scenario at this point.

You can't use Edelman as the norm when he's very clearly the exception.

I don't see it as a failed draft by any means, we've picked up some very good players.

Defense went our way on the boards, looks good so far. I really like all the picks.

Now grab a few offensive gems- ones I watch for-
Orlosky and Magnuson, Davenport and Johnson left for O-line 4th/5th rounds
Isiah Ford, T Rudolf, Josh Renolds or Dupree at WR in the 5th -
(Westbrook or Josh Malone WR in the 4th if they are available)
RB- Logan or Dayes in the 6th last picks /
also the Ravens always invite undrafted free Agents to camp so watch for some undrafted gems too.

Sure Boldin is an option, but there is argument for another RB since Dixon is out for 4 games. I look for a RB WR and O-line to finish this draft out.

There also will be some late cuts available to watch for, Oz and Co. know what to do. Its all up to the players to get on the field and play like Ravens!

Carl Lawson
Roderick Johnson
Desmond King
Malachi Dupree

Move up and let's get this done, Oz!

be tough to move up at this point without trading some of next years picks

Most drafted players are not plug-n-play saviors anyway; Ravens have multiple linemen & receivers in their stable. It's time for them to step up and fill the holes. We all watched as our favorite offensive players went off the board bang bang bang right in front of our pick. Not Ozzie's fault. He drafted last year for this year. Lets hope his picks step up.

Joe Flacco will just have to play up to his contract. I see Carl Lawson,Desmond king or Corn Elder as Raven on day 3. My pick CORN ELDER !CORN ELDER!

Ravens don't need to move up because most teams draft poorly after the 3rd round.

Desmond King is still on the board. Holy smokes! He could be our future safety once Weddle retires and could also contribute at corner as well... a playmaker.

I don't think we would pick up Dawson. We have already drafted 2 olbs in this years draft. And iJoe will never be able to "live up to his contract" with a bad OL.

Interesting that the NFL Network has graded the majority of teams with and A or B with a few scattered C's. If that's the case why are there so many mediocre teams? Considering we have ONE legitimate WR on the roster in Mike Wallace, we have to look that way today. On that note, this opens up the door to bring Boldin back. Can never have enough tough proven WINNERS on your team.

Joe has to play better period point blank! His mistakes are on film and some people conveniently block them out and try to throw blame on the O line or WRs and like I said his mistakes are on film! The pats and squeelers both got Super Bowls that should of been won by the Ravens Troy stripped Joe of one and that very very very bad pass was another so what more can Ozzie and Co. do if the QB isn't getting it done! Wanna fix the Offense it starts at QB and he better step up because walking off the field saying I need more time or throwing lame off passes to the WRs is getting old! Teams feared Joe but now I feel they know how to rattle him and his performance because they know he will just throw it away and punt wearing out our Defense in the process and eventually they will give up the big play because of the Offense inability to score!

If Corey Davis had been available at #16 (like all the mock drafts predicted -- "mock" is appropriate, since except for Myles Garrett, they got everything wrong), we would have picked him. But he wasn't, so we shored up a position of need at CB. Then we did a very good of improving the pass rush -- again, a position of need. Glad we didn't go for an OL early -- this year's OL class is weak. Still have time to address this as we have done before in later rounds.

you know if harbs don't make the playoffs there is no next year for him right I'm happy with our picks except Chris Wormley Ive seen him play a lot and he lacks production and takes plays off so IMO this was a reach

I don't no Mack I think he could be a solid player.  A lot of projections had him being taken any where between the 1st and 2nd rounds.  You may be right though I probably haven't seen him play as much as you have.  He might end up surprising you

You forgot to mention the TD Pass that was DROPPED by Lee Evans in the first AFC Title Game against the Pats when we likely would have gone on to beat the Giants. FYI, that was Flacco who carried the Ravens through the Playoffs and to a Super Bowl VICTORY.

You never have too many pass rushers ! Denver still drafted a pass rusher this year.

Gotta admire Ozzie for not panicking and sticking to his board. I have no doubt he'll go all defense if the board falls that way, and I don't see many plug and play WRs or OL left (weak class for the latter anyway). Unfortunately, we are strapped for cap space to add pieces to the offense.
