[News] Eisenberg: Ravens Have Obsessively Improved Their Defense

61 posts in this topic

imo Nick Mangold and Anquan Boldin are not upgrades from what we have already sorry joe but it sucks to be you

We really need a Center so I can see us bringing in Mangold. Boldin keeps showing that he can be very productive so I would not be upset with bringing him in either. Maybe even Dunlap at RT. These guys are past their prime but not sure at this point there are better options in the 4th 5th 6th or 7th rounds.

Suggs is dancing like a kid right now!!! Now he's got a Wolfpack!!!! This is what we needed badly!!!! I could care less about flacco's needs now! He better use the tools he's got, don't worry tho we'll pick a TE/WR soon. But OMG am I so happy right now! Just got home from work and all I see is OLB OLB CB DE OLB!!! Praise theee!!!

I thought to myself after the second round how cool it would be to double down on both CB and OLB. We didn't quite do that but we got a DE and OLB both highly regarded players in the 3rd round! While I wasn't a happy camper with the unsexy pick in the first round, now I am seeing that Humphrey is an important piece of the picture that is taking shape! Go Ravens.

Now Pees has to make sure we are not only the #1 ranked defense but nobody can score on us period. We need to get back to the good old days of Ravens defenses where people were afraid to play us.

Dear Andy Dalton, Ben, and whoever the browns QB is.... get used to being slammed on the turf....no more are the days of our D-line getting stood up while this QB punks sit in the pocket. I can't wait until dalton and others eats a big bowl of turf.

Heck yeah!! When we first picked humphrey, I told people to settle down and see how the rest of the picks pan out. So far it's stellar!!!! I'm so happy right now of what's to come!!!!!

I gotta say the Ravens defense is gonna be elite in 2017 for sure. The only thing l wish they did was gotten Rueben Foster in the 1st and got a corner later but hey Humphrey is ok and Ozzie must be worried about his shoulder. Did'nt do nothing to approved the offense, but we got the cuts and also got 2018 to improved that. 2017 will be a decent year, but 2018 will be a scary team. 👍

You might be right about 2018, but 2017 will be 8-8 year again if we're lucky and we'll probably have another HC by 2018.

Defense will be elite, but our offense will be a non-factor. Too large holes are left to be filled with too little impact possibility from veteran pickups and late rounds. Biggest issue last year for the O was the inability to generate plays. And we've only lost quality players since then.

Our defense might be elite and even keep opposing offenses below 10 points per game, but that will probably be enough to win cause we just won't be able to move the ball on offense.

I love how the defense is going to be insane for the coming season, thank you, thank you, thank you Ozzie for picking Tim Williams!

On the other hand, I'd be raging if I was Flacco. Apart from picking up Woodhead we've done nothing to help him do his job to a good enough level.  There's no reason why we couldn't have gone Ardarius Stewart/Chris Godwin & Tim Williams (in any order) in round 3. Perriman best be the crap this season or else we could be in trouble.

if the defense does not dominate than harbs will be to blame for not upgrading dean pees. they will plug the wholes on offense with veterans this summer when cuts happen

At $25m a year, Flacco needs to do more, period (see other $20+ QBs such as Brady & Rodgers).

I hate both of our coordinators and don't think we're ever going to see our full potential until these are addressed.......

flacco needs to make the players around him better like $25 million qb's are paid to do

Logically, yes, but he is what he is. A durable QB with not-quite-average accuracy and decision-making skills who got hot at the right time enroute to a super bowl MVP. He got hot because he had a dominant O-Line, game-changing running back, and a mix of proven possession and deep threat receivers. In other words, he needed to be surrounded by excellent talent. Same is true today, but I don't see much offensive excellence on the horizon.

It makes me sad seeing all the bad stuff about Flacco hes's our QB. I truly believe that building around a QB is also giving him a great defense. I definitely feel that we need a Wideout and some OL players, But I also feel that we have a chance to see Hopefully Perriman become a true #1. I'm 100% confident in our team and yes I know there has been some struggles to say the least. I know Flacco can bring us back to the playoffs and I know our defense will be scary great this year. I am hoping and praying Perriman becomes the true #1 like we drafted him as and I do believe Dixon will be the real deal and the players we drafted last year will come into their own. I feel that [Pitta will start being more of a factor as well. So c'mon Ravens Nation we should be happy right now. our team is going to play great and our Defense is should stop just about anyone and which in turn the offense can lean on that.

Above average D picks for sure, but a car cannot drive on two wheels. Our D was already top 10. Our O has not been top 10 since 1997!! NFL network made sure to flash that stat every pick. To say that an action was not purposeful is ridiculous and ignorant. Every action when Ozzie picks is purposeful. It just didn't suit his purpose.
Joe will never raise the players around him. He is not that kind of leader. He needs help, needs tools, and not always vets on the way out the door. When do we start investing in an O that can compete with Pitt, Cinci, Oakland and the Pats?

Who was the goof that gave him that contract? Ozzie could have had a better deal but agreed to walk away.

I love Bowser and Williams oicks 2 stud pass rushers.
But now its on to Day 3, must address WR/OL.
Rnds 4-6 options...
OL Roderick Johnson, julien Davenport, Chad Wheeler, Will Holden, McDermott
OG Dorian Johnson, Zach Banner, Siragusa, Asiata, Eluemonur
Wrs Westbrook, Dupree, Ford, N.Brown, Switzer, Chad Hanon, Josh Malone, Kd Canon,

So gotta come away with WRs/OL today, or offensive weapon. I could see if they feel a TE like Jake Butt fell to them, or Something maybe a generational prospect take him. But must come away with offense

A good, positive homer attitude. Okay then.

Agree; everything about them says old school, old habits, well-worn schemes. Not much excitement on either side of the ball.

Flacco is making $6 million this year.

At this point, I think a G/T must be the priority. Mangold or someone else may sign at C, Lewis seems like a candid for RT anyway.

From what's left I see ILB, Wr as PS guys. None of them will beat out Campanero, Moore. OL, RB, S are the options for Ravens now
