Maybe I need to watch more of goose, because I'm seeing people who's opinion I respect praising this pick but I personally didn't like what I saw on film. I must have missed something

Hmmmm Roberts goes ahead of Butt, Kittle, and Hodges

I really like Roberts, he's more developmental, but I think he'll be really good.

Bengals going crazy heavy on offense.

It's crazy how Steelers, Bengals, and Browns are going more dynamic on offense.  Adding weapons left and right.  We are going in the opposite direction and loading up on D.

All those offensive weapons will do nothing 2 games a year

Could you briefly explain the main differences between power and zone blocking schemes to a noob such as myself?
I believe we (effectively) used power blocking during the super bowl run, and then for some reason decided to ditch it the next season in favor of zone blocking?

Cheers

I'm short on time, but basically, in zone, all the linemen move in the same direction with the goal of sealing their gap. Get to the defenders outside shoulder and cut them off. You want dancing grizzlies. The best example I can think of is Zach Martin. Jeremy Zuttah and Urschel are good examples here. Not all that big and strong but super nimble and can seal guys off. There are intricacies but that's the simple take. I can go more in depth later tonight or tomorrow.

With gap/power, you're running through a gap, and defenders basically block their defenders away from that gap. If it's an A gap run to the right side, the center blocks to the left and RG blocks to the right to open the crease in between. You want big nasties. Guys like Nick Mangold, Marshal Yanda, etc..

Super Bowl year we had a solid mix of everything. Lot of inside zone. Some stretch. Some gap.

ravensb_logo.gif Baltimore Ravens: Nico Siragusa, G, San Diego State: A+ Grade
This might be the best pick in the fourth round, though that award could go to the team that selects Desmond King. Siragusa could've been chosen in the second round. He's a tough, smart, productive guard with some great athleticism. It would not surprise me if he makes the Pro Bowl at some poin

They typically get leaked if someone scores really high or really low.

If you guys watch Nico Siragusa vs Houston. Youll see how good he is especially if you know who #10 DT for Houston is......his name is Ed Oliver and was probably the most dominant freshman in thr FBS last year. He destroyed Louisville

And given the state of their Oline, will they be able to do anything the other 14 games either?

Man I was hoping Howard Wilson would just keep falling and falling.

Raw but serious height, length, athleticism combo. Would've loved to take a late round flyer on him bc if he pans out he's got lock down potential.

Mainly played bail techniques which is why he wasn't taken higher.... but if he had gone back to school and worked on his press and zone coverage I think he would've been a 1st/2nd round pick next year.

Why are the Patriots being praised for all of those low round drafted and undrafted players? They got half of them from other teams.

Here's how I might explain his film...

SDSU ran some zone, and he's not really quick enough to play zone on the backside. What I've seen so far shows that he can do playside zone blocking and he punishes people on gap, but the scoop blocking from the backside is a weakness.

Its the job Bellicheck does at finding talent in the NFL that others may not see as valuable. Chris Hogan is a prime example. He was overlooked at Buffalo and never really got a chance

I have to say, you're one of my two go tos for Oline tape on this board. So I hope you're right and trust your opinion.

Eagles grabbing Pumphrey is a great pick. If he's got any shot in the NFL Darren Sproles is the guy to emulate.

Learn behind him for a year or 2 and then hopefully take that spot over.

Personally I like Tarik Cohen better for that mold bc he's got a much thicker lower body. Pumphrey is short and thin.

Man I really hate the Eagles, they got another of my WR picks today.

you do realize that none of the WR's after the first 4-5 are really any good and likely will end up more like tandon doss than antonio brown?

No, I don't realize that, I've watched those UNC boys for 4 yrs, and this guy was good and had a lot of potential.

Another thing that is AWESOME about this draft is all the young players who could not crack the starting line-up last season or even get much playing time are seeing more young competition coming in this could be the thing to light a fire under them and get them motivated to get on the field. Young pass rushers, DL, MLB and DB it will be fun and interesting to see who the starting 11 are on defense with the last 2 years of additions and the 2017 draft picks.
