[News] Top Players Available For Ravens On Day 2 Of NFL Draft

42 posts in this topic

As someone who has had a history of negatively over reacting to first rounders in the past, let me start by saying I was a little shocked and confused at the Humphrey pick.

The more I watched game film and learn about his athletic background (could have been a NCAA champ and Olympian in track and field) I believe this was a very solid pick. Add in the fact that Lattimore has major hamstring issues while Humphrey has been very durable and I'm betting the Raven's FO feels like they just got the #1 CB in the draft.

There is still time and a lot of talent in the next 46 picks (32-78) to address the 3 major needs at OT/OG, Pass Rusher and WR. It would be foolish to try to predict what order they will come, but as long as we come away from tonight and the next 46 picks having addressed those needs I will be happy.

We will still have 3 more picks on Saturday so I don't see any need to get too cute with trading picks tonight. They can use the 3 picks on Saturday to get quality depth at Center, RB and ILB.

This can very much still be a great draft!

And how did he look when Watson & Williams torched him and the Ala. D?

Agreed on yesterday's pick. What a waste and Harbaugh will be the one to get the axe, not the FO. The best DB in football is only as good as the ability of the DL to get to the QB. The Steelers sure aren't quaking in their boots at that pick. Big Ben still looks to have all day when the chips are down.

Coverage sacks are and will continue to be a thing in the NFL.

What do you think has a higher probability of success in the NFL?
Coverage sacks or pressure on the QB? According to the vast majority of experts it's the later, by far. You can only last so long in coverage but a good pass rush makes all DB's look good. It would seem like that last drive by the Steelers, after a great O drive and only a minute left, would have convinced anyone that the R's need a play maker on D, a pass rushing play maker.

We need to beef up our D-line, thats honestly my main concern. I'd much rather sit through Flacco having to pass to our current receivers, than being forced to watch our defense get RAN OVER.

Would like to get any three of these tonight;
C Robinson OT (Ala)
Carl Lawson DE (Aub)
A Kamara RB (Tenn)
Zay Jones WR (E Caro)
R Mccmillian OLB (Ohio st.)
P Eflien OL (Ohio ST.)
E Pocic C (LSU)
DD Westbrook WR (Okla)
Cooper Kupp WR (E. Wash)
JuJu Schuster WR (USC)

Heck No on Robinson OT Atleast not at 47. Hes long, athletic but whats the knock on him.. hes always on his backside. You cant draft a guy who is James Hurst 2.0 get Flaccos other knee ripped up.
If Lamp is available at 47, and they feel they cant pass him up.. ok.
Lamp is a Yanda type OG prospect, kick out Lewis to RT and sign Mangold to OC and were set.

Otherwise wait til 3rd round and Moton or Dawkins should be still on the board grab 1,

But I really want Wr, and Pass Rusher addressed next 2 picks
Zay Jones, Smith Schuster, Samuel, Kupp

Tim Williams, Willis, Rivers, Bashem, Lawson DE/OLBr

Sleeper picks, i wouldnt be shocked if Malik McDowell slides to 47, Ozzie grabs him. Top 15 talent, questions bout his motor,

What tape are you watching? Cam manhandled every pass rusher in this draft. He even shut down Myles Garrett except for 1 play. He's KO 2.0

Humphrey wasn't a bad pick from a player stand point, he needs some work but obviously doesn't have to be a starter right away. I just thought it was a bad spot to pick a corner considering how deep this draft is with them. Trading back and grabbing him later or a OT would have made more sense if that was going to be the guy. Pass rusher, even if it was a bit of a reach at 16 would have been more impactful right away, or Reuben Foster but who knows what his situation is right now. Feel like the first round pick needed to be a guy who had a legit shot at being a starter right away and not just a depth move. Long term though, adding Humphrey was smart, thats's really what I think this pick was about since Carr may not be here long and Jimmy is always hurt.

I thought Bucky Brooks made the best point. In a deep draft, you just have to not strike out in Round 1. There are boom or bust prospects and there are solid but not spectacular prospects. This looks like the latter so far. If this guy turns into a #2 corner for the next 6 years, it's a win with the pick.

I'd rather have picked the next Brandon Carr than another hail mary type player. If he turns out to be Shareece Wright, we'll all have reason to complain, but everything I've seen so far says he'll be a solid B player for the next few years.

With the way our draft began it doesn't matter who's there. We'll pick some obscure guy who's supposedly highest on only our board but nobody else. Tonight is going to tell us if there are just too many heads in our draft room and no cohesion or purpose or strategy. We just can't continue to draft special team contributors in the draft. Sure we'll be a great special teams unit but with both our offense and defense stinking up the joint.

Cam at guard would be KO 2.0

1 pick away and Ozzie and crew still have a slew of options.
Handful of Pass Rushers still on the board, Lawson,Williams,Bowser,Rivers,
It seems like because all the depth on defense teams are going offense early, Zay Jones and Samuel are gone. But Smith Schuster, Kupp still there so we should get atleast 2 good players tonight. Pass rusher and Wr. Hopefully 1 being next

Pick 47
Smith schuster, Kupp wrs
Or Pass Rush, Tim Williams, Bowser, Rivers, Lawson,

Looks like Cincy got another one from the chain gang. Went with Mixon. What is it with Cincy and convicts? Maybe he and Burfict will fight it out on the practice squad and send each other to the IR. lol
