[News] Top Players Available For Ravens On Day 2 Of NFL Draft

42 posts in this topic

The closer we get to the season the more our OL becomes an issue. If we don't have a line that can give Joe ample time to find a receiver, make holes for our running backs and keep Joe off the DL it will be another tough year.

After sleeping on it I really love the pick yesterday but now I realize Flacco is getting screwed this year. There is no way we can fail to address an anemic pass rush, it seems all but a lock linebacker or DL will be the call. Meaning the first offensive upgrade will be a third rounder and beyond.

Some great talent is going to fall to the Ravens in the second round. JuJu Smith-Schuster, Zay Jones, Forrest Lamp, Cam Robinson, and Dalvin Cook have the potential to fall to the Ravens. One sleeper pick that I think would be a hit is ILB Zach Cunningham. There is so much talent in the second round, you may even be able to trade down a few spots for more picks and still end up with a good player.

Perfect day 2 scenario.. that would make up for Yesterdays garbage pick.

Rnd 2 47 Zay Jones, Smith Schuster WRs, or Williams, Lawson, Rivers, Bowser Pass Rushers
Rnd 3 picks 74&78 Moton, or Dawkins for 1 pk, either WR or Pass rush whatever you dont get in rnd 2..

This offense needs to get back to the run game. Grab Dalvin Cook. We'll have a dynamic runner and a back that can catch out of the backfield in dixon.

Agreed on yesterday's pick. What a waste and Harbaugh will be the one to get the axe, not the FO. The best DB in football is only as good as the ability of the DL to get to the QB. The Steelers sure aren't quaking in their boots at that pick. Big Ben still looks to have all day when the chips are down.

It is a lot of talent on board but I don't know if we are gonna get a offensive player worthy of pick at 47. I'm holding out hope for Dawkins who can play OG/RT and Cam Robinson. But I think its more defensive players that are worth that pick like Tim Williams, Carl Lawson in round 2. I think Derek Rivers and Ryan Anderson could be good finds in round 3. I like Ryan Switzer and Cooper Kupp later in the draft they are guys who can just get open underneath and run good routes.

2nd round picks that I wouldn't completely hate"
-Zach Cunningham, ILB
-JuJu or Zay. WR
-Cam Robinson or Forrest Lamp, OL

3rd Round
-Kupp WR (if one isn't taken before)
-Tim Williams, pass rusher
- Then either the best available guard or tackle (Alex Lewis can move to RT or stay at LG)

I feel like Tim Williams is a lock if still available

At this point in time I am done listening to the Ravens press conferences, reading the web site, etc... when it comes to the draft because many years into this escapade, they do nothing but lie. Why waste one second listening to what they say because what they say and what they do have not meshed in 15 years. Maybe they are fooling people, but most teams arent fooled as I can think of about 30 teams who drafted better than we did and only Chicago was more of a laughing stock in articles after the draft than the Ravens. Don't shoot the messenger but everyone not listed in LFW, which pulled out the more favorable reviews, their grade was anywhere from a C- to an F. "In Ozzie we Bust"

Coverage sacks are and will continue to be a thing in the NFL.

Humphrey punked JuJu in their match-up - looked like Revis playing against a high school WR - absolutely dominated him. If Humphrey is garbage, then you definitely don't want JuJu - if a WR can't beat a garbage CB, he doesn't belong in the NFL, right?

I wasn't exactly overjoyed with what the Ravens did in the first round. In today's NFL to pick a project at number one, is not exactly what that first pick is about. That being said, Humphreys isn't exactly a project, he could earn a starting position and excel. If that happens then Ozzie continues to look like the Wizzard we know him to be.J. Allen and Foster both haven injury issues, Howard I believe was already gone and we didn't really have a need at TE. Pepppers and a few others could have been picked and won starting positions on our defense. But in the last 3 -4 years out DB have been ravished with injuries knocking our ability to defend against the pass. I really can't knock this pick to give us four above average to great CB and 2 - 3 really good to great Safeties. It's already very difficult to run against our Def.

I'm cool with the Humphrey pick.

We all complained and fussed about our horrendous secondary losing leads last season and being trash especially when Jimmy was out and NOW Ozzie addressed our need for depth at the CB position and cats in here are still complaining.  I'm glad that this board isn't a representation of the entire Ravens nation.  With Jimmy, Carr, Tavon, Webb, Weddle, Jefferson and now Humphrey our back end just improved.  Harbaugh even mentioned Canady in the presser as well.  Can't wait to see what we do in a few hours tonight.

GO RAVENS!!!

I agree. I would draft Forrest Lamp (Not Cam Robinson) in the 2nd and Pat Eflien at C in the 3rd so we could satisfy our o-line. If Sidney Jones makes it until the 3rd round, use the high 3rd round pick on Sidney and the late 3rd round pick on Eflien, then use our last picks to draft a passrusher like a Judon type and then sign Boldin to a 1 year deal until we find a replacement in 2018. Our strength could be our o-line, d-line, and secondary... three key positions.

As someone who has had a history of negatively over reacting to first rounders in the past, let me start by saying I was a little shocked and confused at the Humphrey pick.

The more I watched game film and learn about his athletic background (could have been a NCAA champ and Olympian in track and field) I believe this was a very solid pick. Add in the fact that Lattimore has major hamstring issues while Humphrey has been very durable and I'm betting the Raven's FO feels like they just got the #1 CB in the draft.

There is still time and a lot of talent in the next 46 picks (32-78) to address the 3 major needs at OT/OG, Pass Rusher and WR. It would be foolish to try to predict what order they will come, but as long as we come away from tonight and the next 46 picks having addressed those needs I will be happy.

We will still have 3 more picks on Saturday so I don't see any need to get too cute with trading picks tonight. They can use the 3 picks on Saturday to get quality depth at Center, RB and ILB.

This can very much still be a great draft!

Humphrey wasn't a bad pick from a player stand point, he needs some work but obviously doesn't have to be a starter right away. I just thought it was a bad spot to pick a corner considering how deep this draft is with them. Trading back and grabbing him later or a OT would have made more sense if that was going to be the guy. Pass rusher, even if it was a bit of a reach at 16 would have been more impactful right away, or Reuben Foster but who knows what his situation is right now. Feel like the first round pick needed to be a guy who had a legit shot at being a starter right away and not just a depth move. Long term though, adding Humphrey was smart, thats's really what I think this pick was about since Carr may not be here long and Jimmy is always hurt.

Also, while we may have missed out on everyone's favorite stud WR from the MAC conferencee (Corey Davis), I believe I may have found another one.

Anyone with the time check out Kenny Golladay from Northern Illinois. Could be a great fit at #159 in round five.

If we can get 1-2 of these players tonight, I'll be happy
Pass rush: Carl Lawson, Tim Williams, Jordan Willis
WR: Ju Ju, Cooper, Curtis
RB: Cook, Mixon, Perine
S: Budda, D. King
OL: Banner, Asiata, Dawkins,Feeney,Elfein

I prefer Williams, Cooper, Banner

I would not be surprise if Ravens traded away a player or move back for a 4-7 Rd pick tonight. Maybe with the surplus of RB and TEs. With so much talent left, team with a need will want to move up.

@The Beak, Everyone you have listed there is great except Kamara. Although Ozzie says "We will draft the BPA". I don't think it will be the RB. Tonight i'm looking forward to a WR (Zay Jones or Juju) or OL. Since we got judon we can wait a bit for the pass rusher in the later rounds. Addressing the ILB need can come in-house from Patrick Onwuasor. Although I was hoping for the ravens to draft the next Ed Reed, Malik hooker or a hard hitter In Reuben Foster who can add some good coverage to the LB corps. hopefully tonight will result in a good pick instead of another correa.

Would like to get any three of these tonight;
C Robinson OT (Ala)
Carl Lawson DE (Aub)
A Kamara RB (Tenn)
Zay Jones WR (E Caro)
R Mccmillian OLB (Ohio st.)
P Eflien OL (Ohio ST.)
E Pocic C (LSU)
DD Westbrook WR (Okla)
Cooper Kupp WR (E. Wash)
JuJu Schuster WR (USC)

Heck No on Robinson OT Atleast not at 47. Hes long, athletic but whats the knock on him.. hes always on his backside. You cant draft a guy who is James Hurst 2.0 get Flaccos other knee ripped up.
If Lamp is available at 47, and they feel they cant pass him up.. ok.
Lamp is a Yanda type OG prospect, kick out Lewis to RT and sign Mangold to OC and were set.

Otherwise wait til 3rd round and Moton or Dawkins should be still on the board grab 1,

But I really want Wr, and Pass Rusher addressed next 2 picks
Zay Jones, Smith Schuster, Samuel, Kupp

Tim Williams, Willis, Rivers, Bashem, Lawson DE/OLBr

Sleeper picks, i wouldnt be shocked if Malik McDowell slides to 47, Ozzie grabs him. Top 15 talent, questions bout his motor,

Cam Robinson and JuJu are probably gone within the first few picks. Now is time to move up from the 17th pick because there are probably 5 or 6 more players with first round grades. Whoever it is that Ozzie likes. You gotta go get him this time round. Don't wait for it in the second when it won't cost as much to ensure getting your guy.

kupp would be a solid pickup but I don't think he's a secret anymore. He's probably also getting drafted somewhere late second
