I'm excited about this pick! Even though its a little bit of a reach.

I get tired of fans and writers on this blog hyping Webb and Weddle, these old dudes that let Brown, Green, Beckom, and some unknown dude on the Jets run through them like a hot knife through butter.

Humphrey is big, fast, and physical. With Barnett, Williams, and Davis gone, why not address a need with BPA at the position.

Carr is a 30 year old stop gap, not something long-term. Humphrey can press and will allow that extra 1 or 2 for pass rush.

I'm with Law215.  I love this pick. With Jimmy, Tavon, Carr and now Humphrey??? We have a great set of CB's. Add in Weddle, Jefferson, Webby, WOW.  We've got a secondary this year.

Admittedly Humphrey wasn't my first choice, but since the others I was hoping for got taken already, I can't complain. Now that should hopefully be the end of our CB questions, at least for the moment.

If the Ravens didn't need 2 offense linemen, an edge rusher and a linebacker this would have been a good (not great) pick. But hey, at least he's from Alabama. You know what makes a secondary look good....a strong pass rush.

RT,C,LG,OLB & a pass rusher,we get 20 yr old CB. In Ozzie we trust........Cooper Kupp? Larry Robinson? Cam Robinson... "C" to be determined but for 2017 look for another VERY AVERAGE season 7-9 with favorable schedule. Is roster hiding TWO "D" pro bowl Ozzie past picks? Joe will be man handled even by Cleveland unless Ozzie gets O-line help. I don't like this pick.

PASS RUSH? Suggs is 34 going on 50. NO ELVIS...Can't "cover" all day.

I don't like the pick but as long as he fits in our system I'll be fine. I would rather get a player that fits our system than guys with higher potential but don't fit well.

I don't think any amount of post draft rationale is going to make the 'pit in the stomach' feeling go away. Especailly not with Howard, Foster, Allen and even a Dalvin Cook, Charles Harris on the board. Heck even Cam Robinson would've been more palatable. First they've loaded up on the secondary and more importantly Marlon's tape watched by tons of pundits didn't make him a #16 pick. At best he was a player ranked in the mid 20s. So, why did we have to reach when we had bonafide consensus top 5-10 players on the board? That is the issue that gnawed at me all night. I've been a huge front office supporter but this pick stumped me in a negative way!
To top it off, Harbs had to bring up how good he was a special teams player so he could immediately contribute on special teams and could be eased into the starting role! No man a team with as many needs as we have doesn't need a dang special teams ace in the first round. Select one after the 5th round and please stay away from the draft room.

Ozzie does pretty well with his small school scouting. I wouldn't be surprised if we pick up a 3rd/4th round pass rusher from a smaller school that has been overlooked. Possible that OL talent falls in the 2nd round, everyone was talking about how deep the CB pool is, so a 2nd round run on them would push some talent down to us (Possibly Lamp or JuJu? I'd be happy with either, though they probably won't make it to us).

I cant help but laugh at how he keeps being called "big" at 6'0" 197 lbs, and Tavon young was considered abnormally small to a red flag extent at 5'9" 180 lbs..it's 3 inches and less than 20 lbs lol I guess only 5'11" CBs that weigh about 190 lbs are considered "normal"

The more I read about Humphrey the more I love. Barring injuries he should have plenty of time to hone his craft without being rushed into service.

For the second round I want them to go back to Alabama and draft LB Ryan Anderson. This kid will play with a chip on his shoulder. I love his quote from the other day, It sounded like a certain person from Ball So Hard U.

"I train hard, I work hard, but I ain't no workout warrior," Anderson explained. "I don't care about broad jumps and long jumps. I ran at the combine and I'm fast enough to set the edge -- nobody beat me on the edge. I can run with tight ends. I can cover running backs. Football is football. I'm a football player. All that other stuff, you can break it down however you want to break it down. It has nothing to do with football."

Here is where I would like them to go:

2. Ryan Anderson
3. Carl Lawson
3. Ethan Pocic
4. Antonio Garcia
5. Chad Hansen
6. Donnel Pumphrey
UFA. C.J. Beathard

Have to agree with you. Listening to the press conference when Jerry Coleman asked Ozzie if he though Humphrey was a pro-bowler as O.J. Howard, who was still on the board certainly would be (that was Colemans assumption not mine), Ozzie responded with "he will come in and compete with the other 3 guys." When do you draft this early in the first round for someone who isn't good enough to start from day 1, straight up and has to compete. I just don't get it. Harbaugh says we are building a great defensive team. Hey John, the 1990's called and want their strategy back. The rules have changed to favor strong offenses and punish strong, hard-hitting defenses. I used to be a hard core Ozzie and Harbaugh defender but they are making it harder and harder every single draft to do so. Guess that explains missing the playoffs 3 of the last 4 years and the only reason we went in 2004 was because Kubiak was able to provide a STRONG offense. (See how that works guys). Wouldn't it be sweet if we could coax Kubiak out of retirement, that was the last time we had a taste of a good offense.

Agree. It's amazing how just because we didn't pick "their player", people say Oh No! another 7-9 8-8 year. They need to chill, more picks to come.

The Sky is Falling.  They sure know how to make a guy feel welcome...  We do this (as fans)  every year.  makes no sense.

Humphrey was the lowest rated non-QB taken on day one. Clearly Ozzie had him rated a lot differently than everyone else. I hope for the sake of the Ravens it works out but it's hard to see how this was a good move given all the talent they passed on.

I HATE to admit it but I'm with you. I realize that Roster had some concussion issues but I would rather have taken the chance with CJ/Foster LB corps then adding a CB with our 1st rd pick. I'm sure he will be a really good player but come on man. Really? This is what we thought was the best player available? Wow. Yep. I will admit that they know football better than I by a factor of 100 but this still makes me shake my head. I hope the rest of the draft goes...

Yep. A strong pass rush. Good thing we got a great secondary since they are going to be running around all day long covering receivers while opposing QB's sit in a rocking chair waiting for someone to get open.

We will have the best secondary in the NFL cause of this. CBS are a premium for years now even White from LSU went in the first. Does he grab a little too much and need to work on finding the ball? yes. but he was the 2nd rated CB and that can be cleaned up. You can't teach speed, height and tenacity. plus Foster and Allen had medical flags.

No one knows BAMA players better than OZ. We don't need 7 TEs. Pass rushers are a deep class too.

Good Job FO!! We can get OL, pass rusher and WR today depending how the board falls. We might be selecting BAMA players back to back.

Ozzie's had plenty of bad 1st round picks, especially lately. But this is the worst ever.

Playing against the Sqeelers 2 x a year with Antonio Brown, Martavius Bryant and Ladarius Green... means we need cover guys

The Bengals have AJ Green, John Ross, Tyler Boyd, Eifert, etc

The Browns have Corey Coleman, Possible Josh Gordon Back, Gary Barnridge, Kenny Britt and the 1st round TE out of Miami they just drafted.

We better be able to cover in our division and Ozzie and Company seems to recognize that adding Weddle and Tavon Young last season, Jefferson, Carr ad Humphrey this season.

Remember that this draft is deep and we still have time to add to the OL, WR corps and pass rushers.

Dont forget the Patriots, Broncos and Raiders all have multiple high end threats on the outside.

"lowest rated" by whom? Just saying someone was lowly rated doesn't mean he was, or by anyone who matters.

fact, corners that are 6' are "long" . 5'11 190 is considered average, yes.
