I mocked him to us about a month ago but I changed it to Corey Davis in my latest. I think my smokescreen theory about Davis was right btw, wasn't there talk of the ravens really wanting Davis hours before the draft?

Yup none stop talk

Sounds great! Too bad the board will be long shut before you can have a pic of them two together

Nah. I get it. You're stoked about Humphrey. No shame in that.

As much as I trashed the pick last night. It cam.. I mean could have been so much worse.

Just fwiw though. You got your W. Now Ozzie needs to draft Butt and give me mine

Damn... that's such a sad thought...

I'll probably try to travel up again this year and make it a point to get both in a picture.

I was joking.

I actually felt like Humphrey was the pick all the way in February because the Ravens raved about him at the Senior Bowl.

Corner? Alabama? First round talent? All the stars aligned.

I actually thought we would wait until later and draft corner personally. I still would have rather taken Allen, but all in all Humphrey is very good when closing in on the ball and when the ball is in front of him. If he was the worst pick in this draft. Then we are in for a hell of a draft

I would agree. Plus awareness and route recognition.

when he's facing the qb he's great already which helps - as some others have said though i do worry about him giving away penalties in man coverage especially early in his career

Not gonna lie, you're as bad as Sami with overreactions

Well if you take away the i at the end of Sami, you end up with SAM

Duuude everybody here has gone over tape all winter and nobody lauded this players skill sets. I'm critical because I can relate. One of fastest in the county but couldn't cover deep because I couldn't find football and wasn't comfortable with back to throws. And that is like a rythym u have or don't. My friends son JV Southern A.A. One of fastest players but can't find the throw. So he plays safety and LB. the scouts are right his deficiencies don't go away with experience.

I read the Malcolm Butler path to NFL. Again Belichick knew he was special 10 minutes into his initial practice because his skills finding the throws and reacting were elite and couldn't be taught. Belichick asked him after his first practice have you found an apartment yet. He responded no because he wasn't sure he would be in town long. Belichick responded,Oh you are going to be around alright!! And this was a rookie that played small school with an extremely small playbook. But flourished in practice because of his unusual gift to find the throws that can't be taught. Belichick knew it is what set him apart

on a good note he could be a great great SS and zone cornerback!! I mean really good. I kinda favor the zone coverage anyways. Marlon has everything and I mean everything you look for in a zone cornerback that is facing the action. If we play him at SS eventually he could set the standard for the position. His closing speed and tackling is elite. Maybe with all the timing offenses the ravens are going more zone coverage:

Well considering everyone constantly complains about our CBs always playing 10 yds off the ball, that technique would actually fit Humphrey brilliantly. When he keeps the play in front of him hes an absolute game changer.

Hes perfect for a Tampa 2 or Cover 3 type defense which we employ a lot of. And its not like hes going to be thrown in the fire immediately. Plus you absolutely can be taught ball tracking. Some of it is innate that you have it or dont.... but a team doesnt miraculously go from worst in the league for INT's to best by accident. We did bc our secondary focused on it and practiced tracking deep balls.

He'll improve with good coaching.

His skill set was very much lauded early on in the process. As i remember it was almost unanimous that he was the somewhere from the 1st-4th CB in the draft depending on preference, and it wasnt until the Combine and Pro Days that he suddenly fell out of the conversation for some reason. Looks like for the teams, his stock never dropped.

And now we dont have to hope that a good CB falls to the 3rd round (they wont) and we can scoop up a 1st round talent at pass rusher or OL, maybe both with our next 3 picks.

Tim Williams and then Dion Dawkins and ill be as happy as a pig in you know what.

Any 2 of Tim Williams, Carl Lawson, Jordan Willis, Tyus Bowser, Cam Robinson, Forrest Lamp, Dion Dawkins, Dan Feeney, Pat Elflein, Juju, Godwin, Zay Jones, Cooper Kupp, Ryan Anderson, Ahkello Witherspoon, Teez tabor, Fabian Moreau, Sidney Jones, etc... etc....

We have 3 of the next 46ish picks. Were in very good position.

So what you're saying is?

No one fights like Humphrey

No one bites like Humphrey

No one blows up screens and breaks up like Humphrey

For there's no man in town half as awesome?

As a scheme fit he's a paragon

You can ask BmoreBird22 and rmw.

And they'll tell you who's team they'd prefer he'd be on?

we get good info on Bama players. I have a gut feeling those shoulders are BAD. I mean hes a great great talent, but if you only get it for 1-2 years and hes constantly injured its a wasted pick. And weve been snake bitten by injuries.

So im trusting we made the right decision here. I imagine if they were comfortable with his medical it wouldve been a no brainer. We just got the honest opinion from the med staff at Bama, and not the optimistic spin his agent and outside doctor gave.

To have degenerative arthritis this young and in both shoulders? Thats scary, especially with the pounding that goes on in the trenches.

Once again a player drafted moves up on everybody's board after the ravens pick him. Lmao. Trouble finding the throws doesn't go away with experience. It is a like a rythym you have or don't.

no one's moved him up the board but no one's going to not support the guy who comes in to be a raven - ive always said the only guy i wouldnt be able to talk myself into would be taco charlton

i think it was more out of hope that a higher prospect like hooker or barnett might fall than actual unpredictability

Because they hate Bama players and bought into this stiff hips notion.

It was a weird one for me. I did my draft board up to a certain point and was kind of shocked when we picked him with the likes of Howard, Allen etc. still on the board but then I looked at my list and Humphrey wasn't too far off the spot we took him at.
