I've said all along Williams is the next coming of AJ Green and he will catch almost anything in his direction. Something Flacco has needed forever. Since none of the other receivers can consistently find separation. Him at 6'4 and Perriman at 6'2 gives the team two giant targets with more speed with Wallace. Would be awesome to watch.

I'd honestly be all for trading up to get him if he falls out of the top 10. Screw needing more picks lol

Especially if it is the Eagles, as we will be SOOO close ... but I suspect he'll be gone before that.

I seriously don't know why would you feel that way. He is top 10 pick, easy - we were never going to have a shot at him.

What is your problem? I can't be pissed because we won't get a chance to have an amazing receiver in Williams? I literally just said he's gonna get picked before we are up.

Problem? What's wrong with you?

I am saying there is no reason to be REALLY REALLY UPSET when he goes. That should have been clear since before the last college season.

Williams can't separate like AJ Green

Watching film, Williams does the same move every play to try to juke out defenders. It won't work at the NFL level, after he uses it once, a DB will know what he's doing next time. I think Williams will easily be able to make separation after learning other moves at the LOS.

I really feel sorry for you and the others on this site who have draft crushes/favorites every year. Oh the emotions when your crush/favorite doesn't get selected by us.

You don't have any draft crushes?

Nope! I don't watch college football that much and when I do I never pay close attention to potential prospects during the games. I just watch the teams go at it. But I will say this: I truly appreciate reading all the insight from everyone who participates in watching draft film.

I'm sure you can find more videos like that on youtube. I know there was a Maxx Wiliiams video. You can also read everything posted here like I do.

I don't really watch too much college ball either really. I usually just wait until the NFL season is over to review some of the potential prospects of ours, that's when I usually develop some crushes. Although I live in Knoxville so the outlier has been Derek Barnett, as I've been watching him for quite a while. I usually root against the Vols to piss my buddies off, but Barnett is definitely a favorite of mine.

Williams will be a stud in the NFL he has all the tools, he has stuff to work on but they are things that are in the receiver's control to change. He will be a stud in the NFL.

It makes it more fun and engaging.

And this draft theres easily 15-20 prospects I really like in the 1st round range. Chances are good we get at least one.

Plus it adds to the drama... understanding why it's a shock when a team picks a certain guy.

and you feel good when you nail a prospect that maybe the media wasn't as high on or vice versa when you don't like a prospect that everyone seems high on.

Plus as a coach i love evaluating athletes, team building, projecting skill sets, etc....

Its a lot of fun. And loving certain prospects gives another angle for watching the other Nfl teams play. Tracking the guys you liked to see if they pan out and what not.

Plus I enjoy watching the draft and it adds so much more to draft night if you actually know something about the guys getting picked beyond the 90 seconds of analysis that mike Mayock does where every pick seems like an amazing pick and no one ever reaches or misses - this is especially the case when you get beyond the 2nd round

Don't you just love draft night? From the moment the Goodell steps up to the podium to hearing the chime is all suspense. Heck, that little pause that Goodell does before announcing the player adds to it. I hated when they show the prospect on the phone with HIS future team before the announcement was made.

Not a fan of Sports Science, they always make bizarre and limited in scope stat comps to hype players up. They especially did this for John Ross.

LOL This is SO true.

We all do love draft night but we don´t feel like that "pause before the players announcement" it´s thrilling enough if you have no clue of what that name means. We just don´t want those 90 seconds of shallow Mayock´s compliments. We want to be able to understand if in the box we´re unwrapping there´s something we used to dream of, or that we´ll find useful, or that makes 0 sense. We might make our own mistakes, judging what we see but, coming draft day, with no individual opinion on those prospects it only looks like one weird lottery where everybody celebrates without knowing if they won or not. Not Christmas day.
Sorry if I used the plural :D

Watching every fan in the audience celebrate for whatever pick their team just did it´s weird. It just doesn´t look natural. I´d rather watch the instant reaction of every poster here in the draft section.

Well - given that in all the national mocks I've seen, Williams has been selected by us more than any other team, there are clearly a significant # of analysts that believe it is possible that he falls to us. So naturally, people are going to think we maybe have a shot.

I tend to agree with you - as a matter of fact, I'm thinking he's going to TEN at #5, but I haven't seen but a couple analysts who agree with that.

No reason though to act like there is something wrong with anyone who is still hopeful.

I too think he'll be gone before our pick; but often what teams think of prospects and what the national media/fans think of prospects varies greatly.

I tend to think Tennessee goes with a DB there at 5... either one of the safeties or the top CB because theres almost 0 chance one of them is available at their 2nd pick, and a pretty decent chance that one of the top 3 WRs is there for them at 18.

Adams and Hooker are elite safety prospects. Elite. Cant imagine them going WR when most have very little separating Williams, Davis and Ross. The drop off from Adams and Hooker to Peppers, Baker, Obi and Johnson is much larger. If they prefer CB then maybe they go WR bc i dont see a huge drop off between Lattimore, Humphrey, Conley and the like. But those safeties man.... it'd be really hard for me to pass up.

Gotta stay off twitter too. The recent trend of guys like Rappaport and Schefter announcing the teams' picks before they're announced on TV drives me nuts. Takes all the  drama, suspense and fun out of draft night.

so ross is the guy that can separate and get open while williams can make highlight reel catches.

mind blown.

... and the variance may be even greater when it comes to what fans think. All I'm saying is for a fan on the boards to call another fan crazy because they are holding out hope that a guy like Williams falls to us ... when a fair number of analysts are predicting it ... is a little condescending.

On TEN...I do think you have a good point. I see it as a possibility that Williams goes 5, but it would probably be safer to mock one of the safeties to them (which IMO would be Hooker, as I think that Adams is going #2). I don't view Ross in the same category as Williams or Davis, because he's a different kind of player and also comes with injury risk. While what is contained in the link below could be smoke screen, I tend to think it is real:

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/04/22/durability-could-drag-down-john-ross/

I think TEN could be one of the teams that would not view him as a desirable option and the likelihood that Davis or Williams would be there at 18 is low. To me - if they pick safety at 5, they will need to get their WR option later in the draft and would not use 18 to do it. Personally, I hope someone takes him ahead of us or that TEN stays away from WR, because I don't think he's the guy we need.

What I also think is a distinct possibility is that TEN ends up trading out of their #5 pick if someone is really interested in jumping the Jets for a QB. If they fall back to 10 or 12, that will garner a lot of draft capital for TEN and picking Williams there would make sense. Of course, they may be passing on a generational type player at safety ... but that's the stakes in the draft and no one has a crystal ball.

Like the NFL end of season awards getting announced an hour before the show even started...
