With the 16th pick, the Baltimore Ravens select?

I don't think that at all - need has always factored into building the draft board so it's still BPA when we get to draft day because need has already been taken into account which is why I was surprised that they bring need into play on the board so late in the process - when I said changing I meant small adjustments rather than changing grades or anything - they still end up picking the BPA off their board but the board already takes need into account

and surely they drop those guys down the board beforehand or come draft day the board would become more confusing than its worth

See i dont think that at all... I think the board is built almost objectively disregarding need. If they incorporated need into the board and ranking of players it would skew the perceived value of players in the draft and to the league.

The way i understood it from Decosta's answers was that the board is the board and the true evaluation of players. When it comes to their pick though they include how they value the players based on where they fall on the board... meaning a QB they have 5th on the board probably has less value to them at the 16th pick than would say a pass rusher who is 10th on their board.

But they want to keep that QB 5th on the board, not drop him later down, so that sitting in the war room they can clearly see and know that hey -- there's a QB sitting here whose value at this stage in the 1st round is skyrocketing... telling them that they have big leverage over a team behind them that may want to move up. GIves them the upper hand if say Houston calls wanting to move up. I mean granted they would probably know this whether or not they moved him down.... but with so much going on and the craziness of draft night -- im sure they want everything as clean and clearly displayed as possible.

I think the only time need would impact placement on the board is when you have 2 equally graded players, or graded so close together where if you have a QB and say a WR both with grades of 85 you'd put the WR 1st in the pecking order and the QB right behind him.... but not in the sense that you'd put a pass rusher with an 80 grade ahead of a QB with an 85 grade on the board.

So if what you meant was need comes into play when determining ties or really close calls this late in the process, then sure i agree with you there.... but if what youre saying is that theyre revisiting the board and (just to simply quantify the example) say assigning a -10 value to all QB's grades on the board and moving them accordingly, then no i dont agree with that.

The more I watch in the WRs the more I want ross.

He can be a good weapon, my problem is his durability and hands. We already have a wr like that.

I've whittled it down to this list of potential candidates at 16 in my order of preference.

Rueben Foster, Corey Davis, Mike Williams, Derek Barnett, Forrest Lamp, Cam Robinson without a trade. With a trade down, one of the two offensive linemen left over or Takk Mckinley or Marlon Humphrey.

Hump Barnet lamp or Robinson.

I'd be shocked if we went wr

I wouldn't in the slightest if Williams were there. I think he'd have been a potential pick last year at6

Who would you pick if both Williams and Corey Davis were on the board when it was our turn?

Honestly, I'd be okay with taking Cam Robinson at 16 and then trading back into the first or high into the second round to get Carl Lawson.

Davis. That dude might be good enough to be a #1 WR almost immediately.

The thing about Williams he catches the ball with such ease AWAY from his body and in traffic. Thats what the Ravens need. But I like Davis speed a lot and their body are similar. Jeremiah posted a video of Davis (because we don't know his true 40) but he outrace a CB (who ran a 4,4/4-5) and it was not even close. The Ravens also need a guy who can can separation and just get lots of yards from a simple Slant, hook or things like that. Most of the team, Ravens WR outside of Steve Smith couldnt break a tackle just like Antonio Brown or OBJ would do. I think right now Davis has the edge because he's a bit more dynamic.

Williams has the ceiling of Brandon Marshall. Davis has the ceiling of TO.

Yikes, Id like to see Davis against some actual legit competition before I say he has the ceiling of TO. I mean he has a chance to be good. I'm not sure about one of the best WR's to ever play the game good. He's not as good as an AJ Green or Julio Jones good comin out of college.

I think there's reason to believe Breshad can be that guy. Can't wait to finally see him healthy and getting his shot next season. I think we'll be fine adding a JuJu/Kupp/Switzer-type WR. Besides, we have a ton of TE's and a couple RB's to throw to as well.

Doesn't matter how good the weapons are, Joe needs to deliver the ball to those weapons - if we're talking deep routes he needs time and comfort in the pocket.
That is not guaranteed with Hurst to his right and similar mediocrity at center.

If we stay put at 16 we should get the best rusher, likely Barnett who just seems like a very safe prospect who would step right in and contribute. Reddick could also be in play here. Otherwise try and trade back a handful of spots and bolster the offensive line. Build from the trenches ya'll.

I see a lot of Alshon in Williams. Jordy Nelson probably the closest to Davis. If I keep going Desean Jackson to Ross.

Williams has had a hard time getting separation.

He's a lazy route runner. If he put in more effort and didn't get by on physical gifts.

AJ Green is a very fluid receiver and an excellent route runner at that.

Williams looks more like Kelvin Benjamin tbh.

I'd say Perriman is the closest to those 2 combined. He even has been injured like both players lol
