Glad somebody else likes Elflein. Really hope we take him in the 3rd.

As for the 1st, I want Reddick.

There seem to be several users on this forum high on Elflein, which surprises me a bit because other forums I use are less-high on him, putting him even with or below Pocic

I'd support cam robinson IF we are trading back and get another 2nd rounder for it and IF he's at guard.

As a tackle he has too many question marks IMHO.

I like Pocic as a player, but not as a fit for what the coaching staff and FO say their vision is for the OL. He's more of a finesse, technical blocker that's good in space, can pull, etc... and will prob be a great fit for a stretch zone team. I worry some about his height though and with a bunch of big, low center of gravity NT's and DT's in the AFCN - i could see him having trouble getting low enough to maintain leverage and anchor down against those guys.

Elflein i do like better just in general, but especially bc he's got a better anchor, plays with more power, is nastier, and loves to finish. Hes got good footwork, generates good push off the line, and climbs to the 2nd level well. I think hes scheme diverse, but fits best in a gap or power scheme -- which it sounds like we want more of.

If he falls to the 3rd i think its a no brainer.

The tape don't lie though man. Elflein will be a machine in a power and gap scheme. He gets so much push and is a stonewall in pass pro and even moves well in the second level.

One knock I have on him is he struggles from time to time anticipating the delayed blitz, I've seen him miss a few of those.

Agreed. I'd also like to see us address center otherwise cam would be a complementary player being used to mask a weak spot

I still want the team to draft Lamp and try him at center.

he'd be great there i think.

As long as we don't draft jabril peppers, charles harris or taco charlton and preferably not cam robinson i think i'll be happy.

I'd agree, if you add John Ross to that list it basically matches mine.

i addded charles harris too. yes, Ross for me is too injury prone and more of a 2nd round pick for me.

I've somewhat grown on taco, but cautiously. his upside is tremendous, I love how fast he closes in on the ball at his size, but he lacks the disengaging skills I'd like to see from a big long edge rusher.

We might not like taco as a rookie, but don't get it twisted he can be special if he takes well to coaching and learns some disengagement.

I agree but his flaws are bad habits that could be ironed out. He could eventually be an all pro Right Tackle.

As much as I desire a flashy playmaker like Barnett or Mike Williams, I wouldn't be too upset with someone like Lamp in the first. The 2nd round is full of potential difference makers, someone like Juju would make me very happy.

Forrest Lamp.

I don't see any of the big playmakers (Williams, Davis or Barnett) being there for us and he fits an obvious need.

Upshaw was loved by virtually everyone but me. Even when around January he was touted as a top 10 pick I still said he would bust

I wasn't here at that time but I hated the Upshaw pick. But loved the Osemele one.

I have more misses than hits I swear lol

I don't recall many liking the upshaw pick. I personally despised it.

But as the years went I grew to appreciate his role on this team, he was a bully and a tonesetter. Not worth his draft status but a solid contributor

If you haven't listened to the most recent Lounge Podcast I'd advise you do so. They sat down with Decosta... and while he didn't give too much away obviously there were some interesting nuggets.

At one point they talked about how early on in the process CB seemed like the obvious choice in the 1st rd but now much less so especially with the depth. Decosta said that an inability to cover people on Defense is the #1 way to lose games... and if someone is on the board that they think can be an elite cover guy they would have a very very hard time passing that up.

They asked about Corey Davis and how him not working out effects the evaluation... and he said obviously it's a bit more tough when you don't have all the info -- and then there was this almost awkward pause where it seemed like Decosta was going to say something but then caught himself, before finishing by saying "but he's a very good player. We like him." @JoeyFlex5 adding fuel to your conspiracy.

And they asked him about his ability to predict who were going to pick. Has he made his prediction yet?? As I was listening I said out loud that I've got it down to about 5 players. Decosta said he's got it done to 5 players. Hoping we're thinking the same 5.

Check it out guys.... it's actually a really good episode. Usually don't get that personal insight into Decosta. Really cool.

Side notes -- it's actually funny too as Decosta talks about the pranks he pulls around the Castle.

Also explains why he's turned down GM offers. Awesome and makes me proud to be a Ravens fan and that he's one of our guys.

And keep an eye out... next episode is Joe Hortiz, so should be some interesting nuggets on that one too.

I picked Bolles in the "Predict the Pick" contest, half because if it goes to a raffle, I'll have a better shot, half because I do think it is a secretly strong possibility.

I'd say Barnett and mike williams is tops, then I'll say cam Robinson, Marlon Humphrey and Corey Davis are in some order after. I think cam Robinson or Corey Davis are the best bets for 3rd place with the others taking a backseat

Yeah I just finished listening to it and got a lot of the same - I do actually think he slipped up a tiny bit because of the way he finished talking about Corey Davis by saying it depends on who's on the board when we pick which suggests Corey Davis is most definitely in consideration at 16 for us and not significantly dropping on our board like some in the media have suggested about the combine numbers etc

i also found it interesting that they adjust the board for need so late in the process (literally the last thing they do which is mainly left to just Ozzie and Eric it sounded like) - i suppose it makes sense but it still surprised me that even this late in the process they could have a qb in the top 16 players (unlikely this year but maybe not in other years) and only in the last week do they get dropped down the board - the way he spoke about left tackle in a similar light makes me feel pretty confident that we aren't taking Garrett bolles even in a trade down (i know it was an outside shot anyway) because of how he projects better on the left side

On a slightly less relevant note these 2 weeks leading into the draft have had some really interesting lounge podcast episodes which I've appreciated especially given their inconsistent quality during the season is really welcome

@BOLDnPurPnBlacK Who do you think those 5 are?

Barnett, Mike Williams, Cam Robinson, Corey Davis and Reuben Foster.

Haason Reddick as an outside shot.

Im 90% on those 5... but could see someone like Charles Harris, Marlon Humphrey, or Takk as a 10% off chance

. But I actually think there's a good chance that Harris and Humphrey are off the board already.

Yea the Corey Davis talk seemed awkward for some reason. Hard to tell without being able to see their expressions but it sounded like Decosta stopped himself short of saying something he shouldn't have.

I didn't take away that they're changing the board for need... to me it sounded like all he was saying was that they aren't going to pick strictly BPA -- meaning someone like Trubisky may be 12th on their board let's say... but if he's the highest value when they pick they won't take him bc of the lack of need. But I could be wrong on that, maybe they do drop them down beforehand.

The small school thing was interesting too where they feel like they've come up with a more accurate way to evaluate the lower level of competition compared to the rest of the league. So they've made a point to target those guys in recent years bc other teams tend to really drop their value compared to SEC/Big10 type players... and it's led to Webb, Judon, BWill, etc...

Could also be another insight that we value Corey Davis more than most bc we would knock him less than most teams for the lack of competition.

2.5 more days.

I don't think that at all - need has always factored into building the draft board so it's still BPA when we get to draft day because need has already been taken into account which is why I was surprised that they bring need into play on the board so late in the process - when I said changing I meant small adjustments rather than changing grades or anything - they still end up picking the BPA off their board but the board already takes need into account

and surely they drop those guys down the board beforehand or come draft day the board would become more confusing than its worth
