Who Do You Want In The Draft?

55 posts in this topic

I really cannot decide at this point. CB is definitely a need. As is WR.

The top CBs will likely be gone by time we pick, so Heyward Bey is a good pick up considering NONE of our WRs could get open.

Also, how much longer until we do something different at TE? Heap used to be great, but ever since he started getting injured it seems as if he has grown two huge lips and turned into a vag1na. He reacted late to a pass tonight and had it bounce off his hands. Despite his big catch last week against the Titans, he had a big drop as well and has not been productive. Usually the best friend for a young QB is his tight end because of the safety of the throws to the TE.

Seems like every first rounder turns into a stud here, the exception being Boller of course, so I feel good about the draft.

The pass rush has been lacking too so if Everett Brown somehow drops way down, grab him.

Malcom Jenkins, i see him falling to about 14ish and IMO we should do everthing we need to trade up and get him as he would make our defense unbeatable as he would become lockdown

Yeah I like your thinking about trading up to get Malcom Jenkins. He is going to be a lockdown corner and that is our biggest need right now, especially after watching the game last night.
sadly, Malcolm Jenkins is gone to prolly jacksonville or cleveland
We will have to trade up to get him but it can happen!!!! I think Jacksonville will get a guard or tackle in the draft since Garrard lead the league in hits taken (knock downs)!!!!!!!!!

It all depends on who's available. I think the top corners in the draft are Jenkins, Vontae Davis and Alphonso Smith. Both Jenkins and Davis will probably be gone so Smith would be a good pick. If he's gone, Heyward-Bey would be good but I don't think he will last to the end of the first round.

too bad Jax wont be in our good graces to accept the small amount of stuff we got from them last year to trade up. If we would have taken their 1st rounder this year we could lock up CB and WR in the first rd. We didnt make Jax give up much at the draft last year

Yeah, we were kind of desperate to get Flacco.

I think we need to get up there to take Jenkins. Hands down he seriously upgrades our depth at CB and I believe he is an instant starter

One thing I cannot stand about finishing so well in the season is that in the off season we cannot be up there to get the people we really would love to have

Trading up to get in the top ten would be nearly impossible. Okay, not impossible, but really hard without taking a huge loss. We could: trade Landry or Leonard, which ever one loses their starting position. I know its not for this year, but that would be a big step up. Both deserve starting spots, but there's only one on our roster.

Ramses Barden Scouting Report
Projected Draft Position
by FFToolbox Writers
Joel Welser's 1/13 Mock Draft Not selected
Randall Weida's 1/12 Mock Draft Not selected
Raul Colon's 1/10 Mock Draft Not selected
Ricky Dimon's 1/8 Mock Draft Not selected
Ben Standig's 12/30 Mock Draft Not selected
Position: WR
School & Year/Status: Cal Poly - Senior
Height & Weight: 6'6 - 227 lbs.

2009 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

person
Ramses Barden, WR, Cal Poly
Barden enrolled at Cal Poly in 2004, but did not play that season because of his redshirt status. He then started all of the team's thirteen games in 2005, accounted for 655 yards on 40 receptions (16.4 average) and nine TD. Again, he started on all of Cal's games (11) in 2006, grabbing 42 passes for 824 yards(19.6) and five TD. Barden had a breakout 2007 campaign catching 57 passes for 1,467 yards with an impressive 25.7 average. He also scored a personal best 18 TD, earning him all Great West Football Conference honors following each of his first three seasons. Following his spectacular 2007 campaign, Barden was named to the FCS All American First Team.
A big receiver who knows how to use his body, Barden is more quick than fast (4.55). But, Barden has a knack for getting open behind defenders, being able to gain yards after the catch. He is a physical wide out who is not afraid to block. However, he is not a fluid athlete, his route running needs much work and he needs to control his weight. He has become "lazy" on the field, so his level of competition is a major concern as are his suspect hands.

Barden is somewhat viewed as a sleeper. He does have some good traits, but he is far from a finished product. He needs better conditioning and his route running needs tons of work. Barden will also drop some balls, which is always a concern. Some Draft boards have Barden going on the first day, but I think he is a reach even in the fifth round.

I would like to take a shot at this guy, especially in the later rounds

Since we will go CB or DE in the 1st, We need to take DHB if he hits Rd2 if not we need to look at Barden, or Hakeem Nicks. Nicks is a very physically dominating receiver that gets pretty good seperation. I really wanna see Nicks in Purple!

I hope he could end up being the next Brandon Marshall or Marques Colston if we grab him. :)

Colston was the number 47 WR and Marshall the 55th in the 2006 draft.

I want either Darius heyward-bey or Vontae davis in the1st round. The 2nd round really depends on who we get in the 1st.

Both WR and CB will be adressed in the first two rounds, and I see the 3rd round being a hybrid OLB/DE, too adress the depth at DE.

4th round should be an RT.

Yep. Trevor Pryce is still a good player but the team needs to find a replacement for him. Tyson Jackson of LSU would be a good pick.

i really, really don't see jenkins falling from the top 15......probably not even top 10. especially when people REALLY start looking at the tape. jenkins is no project. he would have been a top 20 pick last year if he came out. now he's a year more experienced. i really don't see him slipping past 15
