[News] Joe Flacco Talks Torrey Smith, Anquan Boldin Reunions, Reached Out For Corey Davis Info

19 posts in this topic

The Ravens quarterback doesn’t do much campaigning with the front office for wide receivers, but he would’ve liked to bring back former receiver and friend Torrey Smith. And he has reached out to his brother at Western Michigan for a scouting report on first-round receiver prospect Corey Davis.

All this Corey Davis talk pretty much guarantees we will not draft him. Shame too, he was my top pick for WR in this draft. Hope we get a good pass rusher or CB at 16 though.

Sample mocks using Fanspeak program-- picking Corey Davis first...Compared to picking CB and DE first

16 Corey Davis Gareon Conley CB Derek Barnett DE
47 Taylor Moton OT Juju Smith Sch.. WR Cordrea Tankersley CB
74 Rasul Douglas WR Carl Larson Edge Zay Jones WR
78 Carl Lawson Edge Elijah Qualls DL Demarcus Walker DE
122 Ethan Pocic C James Conner RB Ethan Pocic C
159 Eddie Jackson S Will Holden OT Jermine Eluemunor OT/G
186 Jermine Eluemunor OT Ben Bowlware LB Jalon Reeves Maybin LB

I do not know how much higher O.N. has Davis rated than Juju or Jones, But seems to me that the entire draft falls a little better picking a DE first.

Joe can't use the WRs we have now and god forbid a WR gets injured then bring back Anquan! We just need speed and it's not always a big name player everyone talking about! Big names want big money I want a Super Bowl! Joe had speed with Jacoby and constantly under threw him or he had to wait for the ball to come out the clouds! The game against denver Jacoby had to wait on that ball and the safety choked and the Super Bowl against the 49ers Jacoby had to turn and catch that ball when he could of caught it in stride! We have Wallace Perriman Moore so we just need a possession WR point blank! 5ft 10 or under with hands to keep the chains moving!

I've done a few Fanspeak drafts and a lot of talent falls in way that i'm not sure will happen in real life. I come away with the conclusion we should trade down in round 1 at least 2 or 3 times. And then take all those extra picks to trade up in the 2nd. Seems like a lot of talent bunches up at the top of the 2nd.

As much as I was against it, I really think we should go WR 1st round. I know we can definitely get good defensive talent in the following rounds, our scout team/front office just needs to make the right picks this time.

Sometimes I wish flacco would march upstairs to the front office. At least it would show that he truly cares about this teams success while he dons the uniform.

This draft seems to be loaded and deep. I concur with your comment, trading back seems to be the best move if we can get several 2nd and or 3rd round picks

I'm telling you folks. If Fournette slips past 12, the Ravens go up and get him. I'm just praying it is Fournette in the first, because he alters the entire offense into becoming more potent and deadly. He'll make Flacco look really good as well and vault our offense to be on par with our defense and special teams. He is the only pick of the entire draft that can tip the scale in our favor in the AFC. I may not always be right, but this time I know I am and hence I am pounding the 'proverbial' table for him!

You do realize that Joe was standing on his own 25 when he threw the ball and Jacoby caught the ball on Denver's 20 yard line, right? And you do realize Joe was scrambling and threw the ball from his own 40 and Jones caught the ball at the 49ers 8? There's only a couple of QBs in the entire NFL that can throw a ball 55 yards in the air in a real game situation (not a BS hail mary).

I just pray we draft a WR/RB and he turns out like Tyreke Hill from the Chiefs. Please GOD! Just once!

I don't know whether you're always right or not, but I'm with you on this one. The skill position talent on this offense is just plain awful. There is absolutely NOTHING you can hang your hat on, maybe with the exception of Wallace. Center, Right Tackle. Man, I just don't see where there will be much improvement, unless things change drastically for this O. Still stuck with PJ as well.

I'd be ok with us not taking a receiver in the first round unless Williams is there. Trade back a few spots and pick up another pick or two would help and there will still be a lot of quality guys later on. JuJu Smith would be might pick in the 2nd round, he would be a great fit in Baltimore and he could end up being a steal.

Joe needs better timing when throwing deep he slings it and his tragectory and ball location needs alot of work! Rifle isn't any good if it's always off target!

No matter how good your defensive backfield is, if you give a good QB time to throw, he'll eventually find someone open. That's why a primo edge rusher must be a priority over a CB for the Ravens. There are so many good CBs is this draft, no need to take one in first round. That being said, if either Davis or Williams is available at #16, you take him and do high-fives.

I would absolutely want Both of them back. I was one of those posters that never dissed TS in any forum. Bolden may be older but he is tenacious and sparks any offense.
