He has to love football, have a high motor, be quicker than fast, be a competitor, have a high floor, have upside, have rare athleticism, possess good instincts, and any other cliches I'm forgetting.

I think it is hard to know who will continue to work as hard as they can once they get the big paycheck.  Most of these guys have grown up poor so if you give them a million dollar + signing bonus for a first round pick how are you going to know if their main concern will be football or partying.

Give me a guy with football passion. Someone who lives, eats, and breathes football. Someone who plays every down like his life depended on it. Ray Lewis had this kind of football passion!

You don't draft a safety or corner just because they can catch. They're main job is to be able to cover the wide receivers, not catch like a wide receiver. Of course it is good if they can catch, but you shouldn't specifically be looking to see if they can catch or not.

Especially since everyone knows if DBs could catch they'd be WRs. :D

All seriousness aside, at this point it seems as though the top criteria for a draft pick should be a defensive player, preferably from Alabama for some reason. It almost seems that drafting a weapon to improve the offense is considered offensive by our FO. Didn't Forrest Gump play for the Crimson Tide in the movie by the same name. In deference to The Raven, stupid is as stupid does.
