#23 Mock Draft 2k17

I tried.

1. Browns - Myles Garrett DE - The Browns try their hardest to not mess this one up.

2. 49'ers - Jamal Adams S

3. Bears - Soloman Thomas DE

4. Jags - Leonard Fournette RB - Apparently me and every guy at nfl.com agree.

5. Titans - Malik Hooker S

6. Jets - Deshaun Watson QB

7. Chargers - Marshon Lattimore CB

8. Panthers - Jonathan Allen DT

9. Bengals - Reuben Foster LB

10. Bills - Mike Williams WR

11. Saints - John Ross WR - He jumps up boards cause of that 40.

12. Browns - Mitch Trubisky QB - Pretty standard picks at #1 and #12 as of late, but they do answer most of the Browns' problems outside of the curse that's on their franchise.

13. Cardinals - Ryan Ramczyk - Some reaches on O-line like always.

14. Eagles - O.J. Howard

15. Colts - Haason Reddick - His impressive workouts push him up, and someone puts too much stock in Derek Barnett's slow 40 times. I know it seems unlikely, but some of the monster workouts and load of great skill position players in the draft let this happen:
16. Ravens - Derek Barnett DE

Barnett falls because scouts will see issues with athleticism, but the Ravens will have zero concerns. It's a flashback to 2003, and the team grabs a potential Suggs 2.0.

47. JuJu Smith-Schuster WR

His tape shows a strong guy with some speed, and most importantly good hands. I think he's the type of WR we're looking for and can give Joe a reliable pass catcher.

74. Ahkello Witherspoon

There are real concerns about his physicality on the field, and that makes him slide, because if it weren't for that I'd actually have Witherspoon in the mid-2nd. If that doesn't become an issue though, we get a very good defensive back with some serious length, speed, and room to grow.

78. Will Holden RT

This might seem like a reach, but the guy was a 3.5 year starter at left tackle, and his athleticism issues wouldn't be as glaring at RT. We've done alright developing linemen we've drafted recently, and I think we can make him a starter on the OL.

It's almost like my mock:D there's no one I want more with our 1st pick then Barnett! I swear I'd take him over Garret, that's how much I like em. But knowing my luck he'll go before our pick.

This would pretty much be ideal for me. Usually in that case it seems too good to be true but this is definitely in the realm of possibilities. But yeah I don't think I could walk away much happier.

Maybe replace Holden for a different lineman for me because I don't think he's going to be the best one at that point in the draft

Here's the thing with Barnett's 40 time. It was what everybody thought he would run. 4.8-5.0 range. It's not like Suggs at all where his 4.80 shocked everybody. He is thought of as a try hard who happens to have pro level technique where his technique is light years ahead. Even then it is not like he is one of those edge rushers that can jump in the backfield in a blink when a big play is needed. He worked and worked and set up lineman for an eventual sack opportunity. And won with pro level technique against tackles that have a lot to learn before starting in the NFL. If he is the player everybody wants he will be Available at pick 16. Teams want defensive players with game changer traits  in top15 picks.

I think what I meant to say was that Barnett put up solid numbers but didn't over perform, but some guys that showed surprising athleticism (Ross, Reddick) will have teams reaching like every year, leaving a guy like Barnett to fall slightly.

I cannot fathom Chuck Pagano passing on Barnett if he comes available to them Can it happen? Perhaps but it is unlikely.

40 time for a DE is about as useless a drill as a 40 time for a OT, when are these guys ever running 40 yards downfield? Much better to look at 10 yard splits, shuttle, and 3 cone times for trench players as that short area quickness is what matters in tight spaces.

Yeah it's not an important measure for a DE, but I meant more that guys who tested really well (like Reddick) will jump ahead of Bernett. Most years there's a team that reaches on an athletic guy.

Yeah it could drop Barnett but tough to say for sure. Just speaking more generally in case people are dismissing him due to a 40 time

Yea, because we know they wont address the OL.

I would be pretty happy with this draft.  Barnett has been my guy so far, im starting to be interested in guys like Mckinley, Reddick, McDowel.  Good job
