Flacco has caused a lot of positive hype from Ravens fans this year, and a week ago, I thought it was all much deserved, but after watching yesterdays game, Im worried......... you are only as good as your last performance, and I cant help wondering, what if that displayed his true colours as a player and it takes him another 4 yrs to be superbowl material?

Let him keep progressing. Some of they greats had horrible 1st seasons and you can NOT be impatient if you want to mold a franchise QB. It was against the #1 D too in the AFCCG.
He will be fine.

Consider the defense Flacco played against. Consider that he had horrible protection the entire game. Consider that on the rare occasion that he had an open man to throw to, they had problems with drops. Consider that he was on the road in the Conference Championship. Consider that he faced all these obstacles as a rookie.

Then look at all the positive contributions all season, and ask yourself if it's fair to start doubting him over one game.

In short, this kid is light years ahead of 95% of any other QB that started in their rookie season from day one. Here's a great example that you should easily relate to-

Wouldn't you agree that he is already a better QB than Boller ever was, and is now?

Exactly; look at Carson Palmer for example. Palmer was already in the league for a year before he started. Then compare Palmer's stats to Flacco's, and you'll see that Flacco holds up quite nicely in comparison, especially when you consider how much better Palmer's offense was than ours.

i think he has all the tools. i would be more worried about the departures in the off season. potential changes in the line backing corp, loss of "d" coordinator and the pillaging of the staff and front office by rex. lets be real, the "d'' and a run game have more to do with the success of a young qb and the potential deductions to the defense could spell trouble for a developing qb. less of a "d" means a young qb being forced into more unfavorable situations. nothings for certain just an observation.

I agree with what you said. If the Ravens get one or two more good WR'S, Flacco will put up some good numbers. Clayton is good, but Mason is the most consistent WR on the team.

Ben Roethlisberger threw 3INTs 1 returned for a TD in his rookie appearance in the AFCCgame against the Patriots. The comparisons have been made all season between the two, and this fact just makes it even more scary. Ben has always said this loss helped him a lot. It brought him back to reality and helped him realize all the things he neded to work on in the offseason. The next year he wont the Super Bowl.

Also look at any of the great QBs none of them have had good rookie seasons apart from Ben. Peyton Manning was awful as a rookie, and guys like Brady didn't start for their first few seasons. Flacco has done something historic by being the only rookie to win 2 post season games. He's been extremely impressive but you cant forget he just turned 24 and hes a rookie. He may have played top tier at times, but there's bound to be bumps and bruises along the way, that's how you learn and become a better player. Flacco will be a stud next year, and if we get more weapons on offense, he can break into elite status quickly.

omg give the kid break. hes a rookie and he finally played like one for once. he was playing against the best D in the league, the league's best QBs and offenses have played just as bad against them. guys like romo had bad games, the difference, a lot of those teams had superstar offenses with deep threats like t.o. Flacco managed to do what he did despite having much talent on offense and lack of protection. Its almost scary to think whats going to happen if a tall deep threat reciever is added as well as a healthy defense with c-mac, rolle, landry, gregg etc. A rookie QB reaches the AFC championship with one of the most injury plagued roster in the NFL, that is downright amazing.

i think this helps him out if you think about it.... The kid has seen pressure... the kids has been to the playoffs and has playoff games under his belt.... who knows next time we go to the playoffs but we know this, if flacco is our qb, their wont be this post season bugs in his stomach because hes been their... I mean the game was definitely a bad offensive day.. al we can do is hope we get better in the off season and wait till football starts again...

You know they say stet up the pass with running, and that what wseemed to be missing was running, short passes instead of long yrs throws. It still suprises me that the coaching staff never realized this.I know there are #1 d but you have to pound it, screens, pound, sreens than long. But hey I'm not a coach go figure

I thought the O line let him down a couple of times. But for the most part, im not sure if anyone else noticed this to, Flacco seemed really unconfident and a little frazzled in all three of the games against the steelers. He's a young quarterback and still has a lot of nerves, not to mention the steelers have a hell of a defense. I think once he gets more comfortable playing in big games, he is going to impress the hell out of us.

Flacco set records that no other rookie has this year including passer rating on the road, and he was the first rookie to EVER win a road playoff game much less two. There is no need to question him he did great this year and will only get better. I had to get this off my chest because I'm reading about how everyone is questioning him. He had an unbelievable season! Sure he looked like a rookie when our O-line can't protect and our receivers cant get open. He forced a few throws but who can blame him? He knew he had to try and make a play, since our receivers couldn't get open. Just think about next season when we will have Yanda back and a full strength o-line. We haven't had a fully healthy o-line all season and they still did a pretty great job.

For the first time ever I am proud to own a Raven's quarterback's jersey!

When we have sufficient O-line blocking and WR play and Flacco struggles then I will question his ability to go to the next level, But this year he played almost as good as Matt Ryan with less weapons so he impressed me enough with his mechanics and athletics.

Go Joe!

Going into camp, does Troy Smith get a chance to win the starting job?
Unless Flacco gets injured, probably no.

Are you guys serious, You had a rooking take you to the AFC Championship. Your #1 draft pick. Do you remember the quarterbacks you had for the last 10-20 years. Yeah he had some INT's, but against one of the best defenses in the past 40 years.

The idea of Troy Smith getting a chance is a travesty, Im suprised you don't use Troy a lot more.

I'm going to say they announce it as an "open competition". But Flacco would probably be the man. They want him to earn the spot. Not expect it , like Ryan Leaf.
