We passed on a lot of talent to hang on to his draft pick... we can only hope the FO made the right decision.

im seeing one too many articles on how bad our DL has gotten because we lost JERNIGAN AND GUY.. well what about DAVIS.. HENRY.. KAFUSI.. that's like 3 rookies we just got to replace them.. ALL 3 DIDNT PLAY LAST YEAR.. its like adding 3dl to our DRAFT ... AM I MISSING SOMETHING?

I hope we are not putting our hope on 7 rookies who never played an NFL game. I agree we need 3-4 immediate starters, but the whole draft class should not be needed to contribute right away.

Hey Garrett instead of telling us he looks good on Harbaugh's word, why don't you move 20' from where you guys are located and shoot an interview with him or take some pictures. We can tell if he looks good or not and it's far more effective than a truly filler piece.

You're missing a lot. I'm willing to bet, Jernigan alone had more snaps last season than those 3 do for their NFL careers.

Its probably not that easy. The guy isn't spending all day at the facility.

yep- would love to see us pick up an experience ILB to play beside CJ or at least to make KC earn the job - but I agree... really hope that KC pans out... I expect our defense to be special this year. No more excuses for Pees.

And yet in 4 games, Jernigan had 1 Tackle and 0 sacks total. 1 TACKLE! I think Kafusi can easily match that - that's 4 tackles for the season.

I don't know what it is, it certainly isn't logic or facts. But I have a feeling one of either Bronson or KC will be a difference maker this season and my money is on Bronson. I think we as a team need KC to fill the void left by Orr but that may be too much to ask of him this season. Hope I am wrong and they both excell.

I have the same feeling except it is for either Urban or Dixon. I've always felt that if Urban finally got some meaningful reps/stayed healthy he could be a force.

well lets look at it within the 70 players the Ravens have right now ( room for 20 more to start camp) showing my grade -

D line- Pierce- Williams- Urban - Davis, Henry, Kaufusi = B+
LB - Suggs- McClellan- Mosely- Judon - Za D, Beyer, Onwaser,KC= B
Safety- Weddle, Jefferson, Webb, Levine - A-
CB- Smith, Young, Carr, Canady ( 22) C+

O line- Stanley- Yanda- Hurst - Lewis - Nembot, /Jensen, DeOndre, Urschel, Skura, Puhgsley - B-
TE- Pitta, Gilmore, Waller / Watson, Boyle, Williams- A
WR- Wallace- Perriman- Moore - Campinaro / Mathews, Mayle, Renolds- B-
RB- Woodhead, West, Dixon,/ Tallifero, Allen, Houston C+
QB - Flacco- Mallet
(31)

So if I were looking at the overall squad grades and holes-
I would say Needs in this order =
1. Corner and Running back ( no starter needed )
2. WR and O line ( starting Center, b/u RT, WR no starter needed)
3. LB and Rush ( Starting ILB) Improve rush)

thats my take on the team where it stands right now.
2 vets and 4 really good rookies would take care of it-
My biggest fear is Running Back- what if Woodhead goes down.

Way to cherry-pick a 1/4 of Jernigan's season to make your argument.  So you're gonna overlook the other 12 games he played last season? While I hope Kafusi can match Jernigan's play the first TWELVE games (30 tackles/5 sacks), I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't.  Like I said, Jernigan played more snaps last season than all 3 combined.

I had high hopes for Kafusi last year but this year we almost need him to step up.

Freakish athlete?? That is a little much. Outside of his 3 cone his lower body explosion is pedestrian. I'm not a fan of him at all. He isn't strong at all for 285lbs. He isn't athletic enough to play rush olb in a 3-4. He failed miserably at it in college. Didn't like the pick at that time. And he has not grown on me.  I don't believe he has the juice to beat NFL tackles. I would like some edge rushers and penetrators in this draft like Tim Williams/Carl Lawson and DJ Jones/Malik McDowell

His strength is a big concern of mine as well. If he trains hard and changes that, he can contribute, hopefully

And Urban and Pierce. And at least one big guy from the draft, and a pass rusher in the first couple rounds. Our front 7 is definitely going to be better than last year. And our secondary is DEFINITELY going to be better. If we add Barnett or Takk in the draft and stay healthy, I think we easily have the number 1 defense in the NFL next year. Timmy was so overrated. People that thought we would definitely get a 3rd round comp pick from him ( which is really an early 4th anyways) are trippin. Jonathan Hankins is a very very similar player. He thought he was going to land a huge contract this offseason.....yet he's still on the market. That was a beautiful trade by Ozzie. Not to mention this is easily the best draft I've ever seen. I'm not exaggerating at all when I say this. That pick number 74 in this draft, is equal to pick 44 in most drafts. Our dline, and every part of our D for that matter, will be better than last year

In order to play DE/DL in a 2 gap 3-4 defense, length is much more important than strength. Its why Timmy Jernigan never really did much in 3 years - he was strong but not long - a liability in the run game (which is why he was benched towards the end of last season).

Good to know. Looking forward to seeing him play.

I'm looking forward to seeing him get thru preseason. That's not being funny. His body might not be cut out for the NFL. We seen that before.

Just being healthy, just aint gonna cut it.

You have to be a contributor, aka Tavon Young. You have to step up when given the shot, or sadly you will end up like Kapron Lewis-Moore.

Lets hope KAFUSI Can challenge for a spot with Suggs aging, and I dont mean a bench spot

Try going with Pete Carroll smokescreen. Didn't even take him in round2. A good 3 cone but his numbers outside of that were pedestrian. And 3cone is far from tell all. You have some non mobile QBs posting great 3 cones. In 4-3 alignments strength wasn't his game. Now you are talking about playing him in a 3-4 where more is required. Length isn't jack if he isn't stout enough. Harbaugh said he looks good. Good as in bulked up for interior line?Lost some weight for edge rushing? Not saying lot
