[News] Ravens Trade Timmy Jernigan To Eagles For Higher Third-Round Pick

134 posts in this topic

A smart move considering that Jernigan played slightly over 50% of the snaps in the last seven games. He disappeared a LOT. At best we would have received a Comp pick in the 3rd round/area of 99th overall. We just moved up 25 spots for a player we would not/could not resign. I'll roll the dice on having 4 out of the top 78 picks.

If we draft well, people will say this was a great move. If we draft poorly, then it will looked at as a mistake. So let's draft well.

I wonder if the fans complaining about us trading up in the third instead of accumulating another 4th round pick are the same ones that complain that Ozzie drafts quantity over quality?

You gotta love the NFL more and more every day (sarc); when you finally get a decent pick that progresses- you most of the time lose him. Well fans- keep on buying the jerseys (not). Keep overpaying a mediocre QB while more importantly- raising ticket prices. Yeah, the NFL gets better every day. The next thing you know, we'll be heading to London

Baltimore has an Arena Football League Team now. You may want to look into that. Royal Farms Arena seems like it would be a great place to watch a game.

Great idea, Whobilly!

I figured it out guys. We had to get rid of Jernigan to make room for Tony Jefferson. There can only be one TJ, it's so obvious to me now.

I have no problem with this trade although I'm sorry to see him gone. I went to several games at FSU and saw him play often, I was impressed with him and was happy when the Ravens drafted him. I am not disappointed in his play but I expected more from him. It seemed as though he took plays off or was no into the game. It is way to early to call this trade a Win/Win situation but I believe the Ravens have done themselves well.

Dumb move - Timmy J gave them a decent starter who know system and helps in other ways, like setting up Brandon Williams to rush the O-line. He could've been integral for a deep season run if the Ravens wanted. They may not have afforded him next year but come on, you got a free year with the guy right now, with an improved secondary and Williams back. Why not use him to best of ability for another season. Secondly - 3rd round pick? Given the Ravens recent history of missed talent in the draft, offering up an already decent player to potentially/maybe find a 3rd round prospect who may be better is playing with chance.

Hahaha spot on. Flacco needs to offer a paycut.

Joe is set to receive a salary of 6 million in 2017. Why would he take a pay cut? The rest is all bonus money that can't be negotiated.

Jernigan was nothing special, but he's definitely better than these other guys they keep mentioning. Davis, Henry, Kaufusi and Urban, are you kidding me. All these guys together have done nothing. They already lost their best DE, in Guy. Orr is gone. Suggs is hanging on. Judon and Smith. Really? Correa? Sheesh. You could have six All Pros in the secondary, and they still won't be able to cover everyone for six seconds. This defense has not improved. The offense is a disaster. But, hey, everyone keep drinking the purple Kool Aid.

You don't think Davis, Henry, Kaufusi or Urban can get 1 Tackle in 4 games? ONE TACKLE, just ONE TACKLE in 4 games....lol

Losing Jernigan wasn't concerning to me. One, we have depth to spare there and very talented young talent. Two, Jernigan wasn't exactly setting the world aflame despite being a 1st round talent that fell the the 2nd. He had some personality red flags on this draft profile and Harbaugh's statement during the trade rumors that he was a great player "when motivated" seem to jibe with Cullen saying he had to push him in practice constantly. Also, given that he was probably going to ask too much next year was a pretty smart move. Moving up 25 picks to the top third of Rd3 is not too bad - just thought he was worth an additional "full" pick rather than a "half" (same round swap) for his talent. Guess the Eagles saw this too.

Pick 16 + Pick 74 = Pick 8

Now how does that trade look?

not in this draft bro, teams are treating picks like gold. pick 16+ pick 74 = pick 12/13
