[News] Ravens Trade Timmy Jernigan To Eagles For Higher Third-Round Pick

134 posts in this topic

Baltimore will move from pick No. 99 in the third round to pick No. 74. The Ravens have a lot of depth on their defensive line, and were likely going to have a hard time retaining Jernigan beyond 2017.

Someone please tell me if moving up 25 spots in the third is worth more than getting another 4th? I feel like this is a win

This was a bad move imo, he probably would've given us 3rd or 4th round compensation next year, and instead we ship him away just to move up in the same round... We didn't even get an extra pick. Our FO must really love this draft. I'm just not seeing the value here.

imo i don't think so we didn't really gain anything and we no longer have the chance to get a comp pick or his production on a contract year so i think its another loss

It's cute that you think that it would have played out any different.  Moving up that far for a player whose role was being reduced and who will be gone next year is a huge bonus to the Ravens.

I agree. Get it now or lose. Theres no way we was getting a 4th round pick in 2019 for him.

We're cleaning out the fridge so we can put some new stuff in there. Ya, we're throwing some stuff away that may still be good but why take the chance when you could have a fridge full of new healthy stuff to choose from that's going to last you for a while.
This is the draft to do it I think and we're moving up to improve the quality of our picks. I like it.

we would have gotten at least a 4th round comp pick plus his production for next year or could have traded him after the draft but we gave him away and when is the last 3rd pick we drafted that became a play maker thats right we have had lots of problems drafting in the 1st round let alone the 3rd i think your knowledge of football is lacking and its not cute

4 picks in the 1st 80, No reason not to walk away with minimum 3 Starters of 4, and I would even say 4 starter caliber players w/ 4 top 80 picks.

Preferably like this.
Round 1- Franchise Pass Rusher Barnett,TakMcKinley,Harris,Etc

Round 2- CB Tred.White,G.Conley, Kevin King, Tankersely,Tabor etc

Round 3 2 picks Offense-Schuster,Westbrook,Dupree, Kupp, etc

Round 4&5 OL Dan Skipper, McDermott, Zach Banner, Orlovsky

At least this will help us cut down on dumb penalties. As for the trade, it all depends on who we draft.

Scratching my head. He made more impact plays than Williams and we deal him? If we don't get an impact player with the pick we need to take a hard look at our front office. I like Ozzie but as of late his decisions are more and more questionable

We already lost when we gave Williams all of that money. We have to deal good talent so big muscle man can hoard money.

Hopefully with one of those 3rds we grab Sidney Jones *fingers crossed*

you know what? If that's the move then I am down for it. I'd love for us to take him on and stash him on IR for a season.

I'm kind of disappointed. I was hoping to see Jernigan play the way he did to start 2016 throughout an entire season, which I think he will do now that he's got the added motivation of being in a contract year. You'd be getting the best of Jernigan all while netting a decent compensatory pick down the line.

However, I acknowledge that it's possible he plays like he did at the end of 2016 and generates little FA interest in 2018. I just think keeping Jernigan would have been worth the risk, given the potential reward, but I can understand why others think otherwise.

Maybe this quick analysis will make you see why this is much more probably gonna end up being a good move than a bad one

And if you're familiar with RSR, you know that Tony Lombardy isn't the guy who will defend everything about the Ravens organization's actions.

I would rate this as a very crafty and smart move, by Ozzie & Co.
They now have 4 Selections, within the top 80 Picks
Still have some very good and young talent on the D-Line !

IDK.... we would have gotten at least a 4th round comp pick next year for TJ....and good possibility a 3rd for him.

so in essence... we traded away a starter and possibly 2 third round picks for a higher third round pick! SMH...

I know that we were going to lose him after the season but don't give him away!

No.... if I had to pick between keeping Timmy or BW.... I would take BW every day of the week -no issues there but I just don't like the fact that we let TJ go for a 3rd round pick....

We would have gotten a comp pick for him next year (possibly a 3rd or 4th rounder) so we lost Timmy and two 3rd rounders' for a higher 3rd rounder????

If we would have even got a 3rd and a 5th...
or a 2nd and a 5th.... I would have said... man it is worth it.

Heck.... if we would have ended up swapping our 4th for their 3rd... (and ended up with 3 third round picks) I would have said... great move... but as is?????????????????????????????

We do have talent on the DL but we lost a starter and a comp pick for the following year..... in order to move up 25 spots in the 3rd round? IDK if we move up 25 spots in the 2nd round or the 1st round ...... maybe different but I don't think I like this one.

Can tell I'm half asleep, only just realised we traded the comp pick and not our 16. I like that we have 2 picks so close together now in the 3rd with the likes of Sidney & JuJu possibly being available there but I'm too tired to work out the alternatives should we have let him see out his contract.
