Lost's Real Mock

11 posts in this topic

Well after my April fools mock I figured I'd put out something serious.

Round One: Forrest Lamp, OG.

Forrest-Lamp.jpg

Forrest Lamp is as good of a guard prospect as I've scouted. With reports coming out that we are considering moving Lewis to RT(or C, but honestly I'd rather have him at RT) I think Lamp is on our board, and he projects best at guard. Stanley gets some help on the left side of the line, meanwhile we get a potential future all pro at guard. Not a bad get at all even if I'd rather have an edge rusher.

I could also see us draftin Ramcyzk. Either way I'd be happy.

Round Two: Ryan Anderson, Edge, Alabama

I hate missing out on an edge rusher in the first round, but this class is so loaded at the position that we can actually afford to do this. Anderson is a jack of all trades, master of none. Meaning he fits our defense like a glove. An elite pass rusher? Hell no. Good successor to Suggs? Potentially. He could easily become a guy who gets 10+ sacks a year given his football IQ and athleticism. I like his game a lot and he's tailor made for the defense. Remember, our defense fared very well last year without having a legit #1 guy. We get a guy in Anderson who could become a #1 guy, and he's an immediate upgrade. It's a pick that makes sense.

Round 3: Pat Elflein, C

As far as NFL draft prospects go, you can't go wrong with Pat Elflein at Center. He has problems, some in which are bad, but overall given his high football IQ and obvious mean streak, at worst he could be a decent starting center at the NFL level. He could be a plug and play player from day one, and fits the mold that we are looking for along the offensive line.

Round Three Comp: Jake Butt, TE

Anyone who knows me at all knows I love Jake Butt and I cannot lie(you other brothers can't deny). He's a literal tight end, his last name is butt. But even with his injury, I see him developing into a very good pro. I know people will be claimoring for a WR, but Butt has no weakness in his game other than his average athleticsm. But regardless of which he's still good enough after the catch and a good blocker. Since we are moving Boyle to FB, and I don't trust Pitta, Waller, or Watson, and Crockett at all, I think a #2 TE is in order. Butt has #1 potential, and he might be our #2. The Harbaugh connection is strong.

Also..

"Hehehehe. Bottom"

Round Four: Ryan Switzer, WR.

Confession: I like Perriman and Wallace going forward. I think both of them are good outside options. What we lack is an underneath guy. Enter Ryan Switzer. A shifty little guy who has good hands, and deceptive after the catch ability. Combine that with his good route running, and his ability to find zones, and you're talking about a guy who could have a Cole Beasley type impact, which has proven to be a very good thing. I don't trust Campanaro to stay healthy. Likewise, Switzer can become the guy on punt returns going forward.

Round Five: Randall Goforth, DB

Want a guy who can play either CB or safety? He's your man. We use that a lot, and frankly after a Jimmy Smith injury I think that we could use a guy like Goforth. I trust Tavon Young to move up to the outside and Goforth could easily fill in as a third safety, or as a slot CB. Either way, he helps the defense.

Round Six: Ejuan Price, OLB

I have a feeling that a lot of teams are gonna pass up on the guy due to the depth in this class/his size. But who cares about that? The dude can play. He has issues in the run game, which shouldn't be a problem, and can put pressure on the QB. If we can resign a Dumervil type and let him develop, Price could be a player going forward.

Anyway, hope y'all like it.

Or not. Either way screw you, I have one more coming anyway on draft day.

Lamp and Elflien would be amazing additions to the o-line. I think both can be all pro. I like Anderson as a second round pick, since we need an every down edge guy with Suggs in his final couple years. And I love Switzer as an offensive weapon. The last two picks are decent value picks for their round.

The only iffy one I think is Jake Butt. Not because I don't like the player, but I'd be hesitant to get another TE. Personally, I'd rather use that pick on trying to find a decent RT if any are left, or a DB.

All in all though, I'd be pretty happy with this draft.

Overall I like this draft a lot. It's a pretty serious investment in our line and in Joe.

My biggest gripe is that the DB is underrepresented. We are a Jimmy Smith injury away from being in pretty much the same predicament as last season. In this draft, I'd like to think we could land two starter quality corners.

Love the Ejuan Price pick. I like all your picks except Goforth.....question as to whether Elfleien is there mid 3 but I could be wrong on that.

Good mock.

I love the underrated value of Lamp. Great pick up. However, I don't get how people think Elflein is still there in the middle of the third. There are just too many teams with needs at center that I cannot see the best, if not, the second best center in the draft still sitting there that late.

I think Elflien could slip into the bottom of the third, but he'd probably be best to get with our second or a trade back in the second.

I like Lamp lot. One of my favorite players. Considering his skill set Butt is a Max Williams clone. It wouldn't make sense to have 2 players the same. However, if he could be what Williams is expected. I like the pick. And good value with the comp pick. If Williams ever comes on. Ravens will have some interesting formations with 2 TE sets with a FB. Butt is a better athlete than credited for. Williams Butt and Boyle can all block to spring running plays. And can all run routes and make plays catching the football. It could be Very interesting!

Anderson I like but I'm not so sure he is the best player available there. He is fluid in the sense can play multiple positions. Rush olb and could slide inside and play ilb. If he did that he would probably play at a lesser weight for his ilb coverage tasks. Ravens may want a stud of one position for that pick. Like Ardarius Stewart, JuJu. A Harris,Lawson or McDowell could slide a little. Then there is Moton and Dawkins. As well as a cornerback/Safety like Williams Baker and Maye. I like Anderson but ravens probably want a more defined player round2

i like your remaining picks except Elflein. Ravens want to get bigger and stronger and doesn't fit the mold. A nasty offensive lineman only works if he can impose his will. Not sure he is an upgrade over Urschel,Jensen

I agree on Eflein. He's a really good all around lineman in a weak OL class. Teams needing center and guards will look at him too. I'd be fine with him at 48. I think out of every prospect available he's one of the best fits for us. His power game is exactly what we need at center.

I really like lamp and I think he's the best lineman in the class. But if we sign mangold do you still see us taking him? I mean we could push Lewis out to tackle but is it really worth the risk? I kinda like how it sounds but putting Lewis out at tackle scares me a bit seeing how poor he did on the left side, and lamps arms are way too short for a tackle in the NFL
