I loved Kubiak here in Baltimore, but I knew that IF he decided to be an HC again after his time here and recovered from his health issues he'd be a short-timer. here. I always liked him as OC for the Broncos and HC for Houston and knew he'd help Baltimore greatly. I was "right" on both accounts though. He did help us and he did leave after a season when his old buddy Elway asked him to coach Denver. I never liked Kyle for his personality and I never like nepotism (like in Washington) but I have to admit that he ran a stellar offense in Atlanta with Joe's 1st rd draft-mate Matt Ryan. In retrospect I wonder if it Kyle mught not have been the better option for long-term benefits for the offense.

Chances are he would have been a one and done year deal, just like Kubiac was.

Shanny would have been 1 and done too. And I'm still not sold on him being a "top" OC or Coach (see play calls in SB - 4th quarter).

It's the Falcons - pretty easy to play call for them.

1. Throw the ball to Julio
2. See #1
3. Hand off to Freeman or Coleman
4. When all else fails, see #1

Come on man, it sound like your hating on the guy? You make it seem like your paying that extra million out of your own pocket lol

To be fair, Ryan completed passes to 13 different players, which I believe was a record.

How about waiting with this stuff until he actaully plays games for us?

As for Shanahan: yep, there is a definite chance he would have been lured away from Baltimore with a HC-gig bait after one season like Kubiak was - and it takes some imagination to picture an O better - more efficient that is - than Kubiak's anyway... So, I don't think anyone could really say we should have opted for him over Kubiak (especially Justin Forsett LOL).
What I was secretly hoping is that he would be consiodered as a replacement for HC after last season. Now, THAT would have been an exciting move IMHO. Wisely, the owner shot down any speculations very early, but it was good to dream about it :)

Yea, probably thought it was a bargain, considering HIS other safety is making $2.5million more this year.

Well they weren't world beaters on offense before he got there, and had largely the same offensive personnel.

Can argue they actually have less talent on offense than they have in the past during the Ryan/Julio era.

So in the 2 years he was in Atlanta, they were horrible in Year 1 and some of the worst play calling lost them the Super Bowl in Year 2. Like I said, not an "outstanding OC" more like same old, same old. Especially if you factor in his time in Washington & Cleveland as their OC. Nothing special....

Well offensively they weren't exactly horrible, just not great. Had more offensive line and defensive issues than anything. Obviously not going to judge an OC's time based on the teams overall record, because that just doesn't make any sense.

He actually had some pretty viable stints in Washington and Cleveland in terms of output, especially considering the talent limitations. Its one of the reasons why he was such a hot commodity.

Also certainly don't blame the play calling for their SB loss. Same play calling hung 28 on a Belichick defense in a matter of two quarters. He gets some of the blame, but when you're team gets outscored 25-0 in a matter of about 20 minutes of game time, there's more blame to go around then just the offense.
