[News] Breshad Perriman Has To Be A Difference-Maker For Ravens This Season

27 posts in this topic

The 2015 first-round pick showed flashes of his immense potential last season after missing his entire rookie year with a knee injury. With free agency’s big names now off the market, it’s on Perriman to take the next step for the Ravens offense to flourish.

So I assume that means we are going Pass Rusher 1st round or 2nd. No WR until much much later. Wonder if the Ravens still get Sidney Jones. He is out for the season plus will need another season to catch up to speed, isnt Carrs contract setup to be a 1-2 year deal anyway?

Charge on Breshad! Just double last year's production and you will be in the Pro Bowl. That's all you need to do... lol.

I'd celebrate if we landed him in the second. I might cry if we take him 16 overall lol

"Perriman had too many concentration drops and didn’t finish some big plays" I seen some post on here say that was his issue in college. If he keeps that up it means he didn't learn anything from SSS.

Bottom line is it's all in Perriman's hands. If he is productive then he gets more chances if he squanders the chances he gets then it could label him a bust. Either way it is going to label him and impact where he is going forward with his career.

Play calling and routes get WRs open! They create separation stop and go's post patterns double moves etc! Our WRs routes look stale and lame I could draw up better plays in the dirt with my finger and get these guys open "WITHOUT" getting injured! Perriman Is our Julio Jones and ball location has to get better!

I thought Breshad was advancing well last year, he seemed to trust his body more. His willingness to go up and get the football, as well to leave his feet were very good signs.
I hope his moves will continue to improve and now being put in the solid starting role, he will be able to expand his talent and experience.
Its time to put together the SSsr and Wallace examples that he has been given and use his superior physical abilities to catapult his career.
The opportunity couldn't be better for this young man, lets hope he can humbly accept the role and set some records! Wouldn't that be nice. I have a good feeling about this kid and Joe this year. Wallace too, could we see two 1000 yd receivers this season....absolutely possible!

If the Qb can't throw an accurate pass, it won't make a difference who they put on the field.

I believe Perriman will blossom into a great receiver. He's had a lot to deal with but now he's had plenty of time to learn how things go and how to work out and the boy has some talent. If we lean on him more this season, I think he'll rise up.

IMO Waller will become the #1 receiver on the team and a star in the NFL. He and Perriman may become the top receiver tandem in the league. As long as the Ravens get 1 or 2 more top level OL this will be their year.

Perriman's issues aren't with his talent or God given speed and ability. His problem seems to lie in confidence or the lack thereof. He is a very nice guy who's listening to too many critical voices but not his own. He is going to put too much pressure on himself to perform and that's never a good thing.
Harbaugh is trying to use the classic positive reinforcement with a noose in his hand and that doesn't work with professional players. It may work with middle school kids, but here? Are you kidding me John?

Wouldn't double his production be like 60 catches , 6 tds and like 800 yards or something? Idk about you, but those don't look like pro bowl numbers....

When we drafted Perriman I was excited because the "potential" was and still is there. It goes without saying that we need Perriman to step up and become the caliber of player that most of us hoped for. If we could transplant Steve Smith's DNA...... Only time will tell.

Plus - my buddy is an Eagles fan and I'd love to dog him about the Eagles drafting Agholor ahead of Perriman.

Waller had 10 catches last year and is now a TE. If you are correct about him becoming the #1 Receiver on the Ravens and a Star in the NFL I'll be the first to give you props. I would say one of the tougher battles he will face is making the team this year.

Looking for a big season from Perriman this year. There is no reason he shouldn't have one: Has good QB, has all the gifts of a top WR, will not get lost in the depth chart and is no finally healthy. Reportedly Joe and his top receivers will workout before OTAs to start getting a rhythm. All good signs!

Waller has questionable hands, can't block and runs poor routes - that's not star quality. Uses his size well on jump balls down the sideline and in the red zone but that's about it. Justin Hunter & DGB arguably have more talent with the same size/speed combo and have yet to make a mark in the NFL.

This is Wallers third year in the league however and if we have been developing him like we should.... he should understanding his route tree and running cleaner routes by now.

His concentration issues are correctable... but switching from WR to TE probably has slowed the learning curve instead of accelerating it.

I think Waller is looking slimmed down again and I believe we will see a move back to WR for him.

He has the size and speed to be successful in this league. He tracks the ball well and is smooth in his ability to go up and make a play on the ball.

I expect Waller to be a contributor this year... possibly at TE but I really do anticipate his moving back to WR (with the depth we have at TE and the need that we have at WR) this just seems logical

I expect Perriman to take the next step. If you call last year his rookie campaign (which it really was) and compare him to all of the other rookie WRs across the NFL (and there were some very good ones last year). Perriman was about middle of the pack in production. Now with Steve Smith Sr retired... I do expect more.

In fact.... if Kamar Aiken had nearly a 1000 yards rec. when we were forced to throw to him... then I really believe that Perriman could also....

He is immensely more talented then Kamar and with Mike Wallace opposite him and Joe Flacco healthy... I like Perrimans chances!

Perriman does need to work concentration drops, but I think if he got with Flacco and worked his routes and their timing and trust it could work wonders.

I mean  lets face it, the playing calling never did anyone any favors, most of the time the routes on passing plays barely complement each other the way they should.

Other teams might use Crossing routes and drags for pick plays while having Go route or post over the top as a deep option so they can attack multiple levels of the field. And the routes are what create the separation and openings.  Seem like we send everybody out on curls or digs and wonder why the defense just sitting on it.

Not quite Pro Bowl numbers if he doubles his stats but it would be an impressive season still.

Last year he had 33 rec, 499 yds , 3 tds

double that : 66 rec, 998, 6 tds.

I doubt anyone would complain if he put up these numbers and the team won!

He caught 33 of 66 targets. That's a big disappointment for a first round WO. Perriman is close to being a certified bust and looking elsewhere for work next year. That kid is playing for his football life.
We will still need to take a WO either way because the Ravens won't being paying Wallace top dollar to extend.
