[News] Ravens' Expectation Is To Win 'Multiple' Super Bowls With Joe Flacco

52 posts in this topic

Not going to happen. Ravens can't afford great players anymore. Bad drafts, bad contracts, and bad coaches. It took John 5 years with Ray to make the SB and it will take 5 years without Ray to get fired.

We don't really have any bad contracts anymore. That's a very 2014-2015 type thinking.

Joe played exceptionally well during his rookie contract... after that, not so much.

Well and 2014, by far the best year of his career.

For those of you who are down in the dumps about our beloved team, I must remind you.
Our missing the playoffs has much to do with our on field personnel as it does with coaching and game time decisions as well as our schedule, timing and a slew of other things that all have to work together to have a playoff inducing record for any team.

Blaming our entire season on Joe or how much he's paid isn't the answer. I don't like that a guy makes a gazillion dollars for playing a game but that's what Pro NFL players get paid, it is what it is. Having said that, he did take us to 2 SB's and as someone else mentioned, out played Brady more than once so it's not all on him. Our O-line has been in flux for years for various reasons heck, Yanda was playing out of position most of the year as were a couple other players.

Joe's mechanics suffered when he was hurt but he also had 300+lb guys trying to take his head off with suspect blindside and up the middle protection a lot of the times so I understand being a little flustered in the pocket.

I will also remind everyone about the slew of QB's we've had here.
Eric Zeier, Tony Banks, Stoney Case, Anthony Wright, Steve Mcnair, Troy Smith, Jeff Blake, Chis Redman....
Remember Testerverde who while throwing for the most yards in Ravens history, had the knack for snatching the defeat out of the jaws of victory. Or how about Kyle Boller who we drafted in the 2nd round because we had Chris Redman and Jeff Blake who couldn't throw more INT's than TD's if they tried so Boller had to be thrown right into the fire his first year. He started like 8 games before he got injured. While being thrown into the fire like that didn't help him develop into the franchise QB we imagined him to be, don't forget, Flacco did it and then some.

Many of us will also agree that we've never had a great WR tandem. The Elam's, Kendricks and Kindle's haven't helped our cause any either but in the FO's defense, these college kids are being tutored on how to act and what to say, how to prepare for scouts and combines etc, way better than they ever have so it's not easy. The reasons each of those first and 2nd rounders failed varies as much as the positions they've played. We drafted Suggs the same year as Boller and we all know how that turned out so while our coaching may seem suspect at times, they are still top coaches in the league which is evident by the fact that we lose more of our coaching staff every year than players it seems. Look at how many coaches we've had that are now or had been head coaches. We're constantly poached so we have to be doing something right.

All in all, we have a pretty darn good owner and FO. They have a great collective head on their shoulders and they operate with integrity so that alone, lends itself to being optimistic about this season and how can you not be excited about the draft this year? We always get ONE of our top picks to be a Suggs, Stanley or a Mosely!

So, while drinking Purple Kool-Aid in Purple Shades all the time may be a bit obnoxious to many, there's certainly no reason to not wear the rose colored glasses every once in a while. There's hope in everything, if you look for it and I'm hoping we'll see a new team this year and it wow's us. If not, I'm looking forward to them putting them puzzle pieces together quickly enough during the season that we burn into the playoffs and knock N.E. out with a fury unknown to mankind then Joe Flacco can sign the game ball and give it to Brady for his retirement gift then give him a ride in his new car to take him out to dinner at Denny's cause Joe's cool like that! :-)

No more jokes please. Can't even make the playoffs with average Joe and we're talking of multiple SBs. Bad teams always yap the most in the off-season, but when the season starts and the losing inevitably starts, they go silent. I see the pattern; after every unsuccessful season, you pacify me by making baseless predictions of how we're going 'all the way' the next season. How do you know this? Where are the drastic changes that'll guarantee this turnaround? You're just gonna set me up for more disappointment with all this talk of greatness with a below average team, huh? Ok.

1. Nothing is guaranteed.
2. You don't need drastic changes to see a radical difference in production and output.

Where were the radical changes the Falcons made between 2015 and 2016? Or the Patriots, who rarely make radical changes year over year?

They keep talking about surrounding Flacco with the talent he needs, but where are they? At the moment, we have no O-line and a shortage of receivers. We had better have one heckuva good draft!

Well, we have a shortage of "established" receivers, meaning receivers that we know for certain are good.

We know we've got a bunch of young guys that need to develop at both WR and TE, and I suspect that will continue. Adding another draft pick or two will only amplify this, not fix it.

Flacco is just fine, ppl need to get off his back. Lets get him a solid Oline and some weapons and you will be eating your words. We are a spoiled fan base and take things for granted. There are many teams out there that have been through so many QBs since 2008 and were sitting here complaining about Flacco like hes the only issue on the team. Geezzz

How about no more articles on Joe until after the season starts...give the front office its shot this offseason, then we'll see where we're at as far as how well Joe and the team has improved...I'm hangin' till then.

So if Torrey caught the ball you want our banged up secondary to save the day?! Smh Joe had the entire left side of the field to run the ball and run down the clock PLUS they played Joe putting the CB up on Torrey and Joe saw it and the safety waited and got Torrey into over and under coverage! They showed the view from behind Joe on SB Nation and it was a very very very bad pass! Bmore. Com will not show that angle! Things we missed did not air! Smh

Oh I agree, I prefer that we would have run the ball to use up the clock. But the point is, there are plenty of instances where key drops sunk the ravens, while Joe's throws were on target.

And take away everyone's favorite topic? Now why would you want to do something like that? :)

That's right, it was Trent Dilfer in 2000's Super Bowl, I stand corrected.

I had a similar argument with a "so-called" Ravens fan who blames Flacco for every loss and gives him zero credit when we win. Our Superbowl run was because of Torrey, Anquan, Rice, Pitta and Jones, our QB was just "there." Ten touchdowns, zero interceptions, well that was luck, not talent. The endless drops. The stupid mistakes. The idiotic penalties at the worst time. The god awful play calling. Joe has this team 118 seconds away from moving into First Place in the AFC NORTH in Pittsburgh this past season when our defense proceeded to crap the bed! Where the hell were the Flacco bashers then?

Joe should have 3 Super Bowls! But noooooooooooooooooo he tried to get a pass off before Troy Polomalu strip the ball out his hand costing us a trip against the Cardinals and a very very very bad pass against the pats costing us another Super Bowl against the Seahawks because Justin had a monster day and throwing to the endzone and maybe depending on your banged up secondary to stop Brady would have been pointless! I thought Joe could get 5 rings with us but he disappointed me big time! Ozzie and Co. are working their tails off keeping good players on this team year after year but it all falls on the QB! And throwing the O line under the bus is getting old! Smh multiple Super Bowls we should have FOUR! Bring facts to the table if you think different!

I do agree with this, but if not for Cundiff and Evans, we likely win it all in 11' guided by Flacco.

In 14' though, that playoff game was in the bag and Flacco chucked up an unneeded bomb when we were running it down their throats and they couldn't stop us. Had we let KO and Yanda continue to leave the way we would have ended that game.

Flacco just needs a good line and a defense that won't give up the most go ahead TDs in the league two years in a row. I'm sure he wouldn't like to throw 40-50 times per game but our line and run game has been so bad that we cannot generate any push up the middle.

I am hoping that Stanley and Lewis make great strides and we add another monster on the line like Cam Robinson, Dion Dawkins, Dan Feeney, Pat Elflein, or Taylor Moton, so that we can go out there to mail people on every down. If Flacco gets time and we can run the ball I think we will be in good position next year.

The 2011 season should've been a Super Bowl championship for the Ravens l agree on that, but the 2014 season, l sorta kinda glad we lost. Even though we probably would been in the Super Bowl again that year in 2014, l think we would've lost against Seattle because our secondary was so banged up and filled with injures that l feel it would be tough to overcome against a mobile QB in Russell Wilson. The injures will get up to them in the Super Bowl.

Like they talk about running the ball more too. Draft will not help this year.

To be honest, it wasn't really any spectacular players that was in free agency this year that was offensive players anyway. It was mostly a bunch of 30+year old receivers that was close to be at the end of his prime or had question marks.

They will need multiple reliable receivers, a solid run game and perhaps at least a top 8 defense. It complicated because you need just about every part of the game to work well consistently for that to happen. But it can happen!
