[News] Top Receiver Prospect Corey Davis Already Has A Flacco Connection

29 posts in this topic

Joe Flacco’s younger brother, Tom, threw passes to Corey Davis at Western Michigan as a dual-threat quarterback. Now, Davis, who is one of the draft’s top prospects, likes the idea of catching passes from the elder Flacco.

The only other acceptable picks in the 1st round other then Pass Rusher would be Elite Offensive Playmaker.. Mike Williams, Dalvin Cook,

Nah, Tom Flacco is not Joe so comparing catching passes is moot, Davis may be a good pick but it doesn't add anything that he caught passes from someone else named Flacco

IMO Davis is the top WR option. Lesser QB, better routes, better speed, less size on the competition, more production than Williams. The only knock is a lower level of competition but he beat top tier CBs too.

Small school guy big time talent. He doesn't fit the Ravens model WR.

Ozzie like's small school guy not a lick of talent.

Correy Davis at #16 would make my day. It would also be fitting saying as he played for the Stalions and Baltimore was once the Stalions.

Davis is the top receiver in this class hands dowm imo. I think he would be a great pick at 16. Joe would finally have a true #1 receiver who isn't past his prime. Isn't about time the FO gives Joe a young, legit target? I know they took BP in the 1st rd a couple of years ago, but anyone with a lick of football knowledge knew BP was a bit of a hit or miss project. He was considered the biggest boom or bust guy to come out in the 1st rd of that draft. I think BP can be a solid #2 guy, but I think he is going to be a one-dimensionsal player during his career. Matching him up with a guy like Davis could be a deadly tandem. They compliment eachother nicely.

Davis can do it all though. He has enough speed to stretch the field, but he also has the skillset to be a nasty possesion receiver who can move the chains; be deadly in the short, intermediate game; highpoint the ball and make tough, contested catches; and also be a mismatch nightmare in the redzone. He can do it all. Put 10 more lbs on him and he could bully opposing teams corners. Perriman was a bit of gamble, but Davis is smart money.

My top wants at 16 are Davis, Foster, Howard or Barnett(no order). I am a little nervous on the latter. Barnett could have a Suggs-like skillset or he could never make any kind of impact at all. I love his college film and his relelentless motor, but I just don't know if he has the elite athleticism and quick twitch to be an elite edge bender in the league. He is technically sound, has a great motor, but he is lacking in some things. We shall see.

Foster really intrigues me. I think there are more glaring needs on the roster than ILB, but he has elite potential. Pairing him up with CJ might be too good to pass up regardless of other pressing needs. I am not worried about his red flags. We need some more nastiness. And Howard has Gronk-esque potential. Howard will be an absolute stud at the next level. Then we would also have the luxury to let go of a few TEs who are just taking up spots on the roster. The draft can't get here soon enough.

I would add OT to that list. Joe needs time to throw the ball. It's not sexy but Flacco could light up defenses with an average group of receivers and a stout oline

I like Williams more than Davis. Flacco is not that accurate and Williams can just bully the ball away from defense like Boldin did. Either are playmaker though.

before i read this i was sure it would something like: corey davis's dad played backstreet football with joe flacco's cousin's sister's aunt's nephew's mother-in-law's stepson's baseball coach

Technically, Joe's cousin's sister would also be his cousin. The sister's aunt could be Joe's mom, who's nephew could be the original cousin. If you had stopped there, you would've been close.

it was probably more like joe's father's brother's nephew's cousin's niece's uncle's cousin's wife's brother-in-law

Who said it adds anything or would have an impact on play? It's just pointing out a connection that could allow our FO better Intel, first hand knowledge of who he is through our franchise QBs brother.....

Maybe he's good friends with Tom Flacco and so really wants too play here? These things don't effect on field performance. Ur could give an edge over other teams in scouting hi , comfort in drafting him, or that he wants to be here more than anywhere else.

It's interesting at the very least. How many teams have a star player with a personal, familial connection to one of the top prospects in the draft (outside of the Watt brothers)?

I agree Davis with a lot of people on here that Davis is the top WR in this class hands down. I would want Ju Ju and John Ross next, then Williams.
Davis at 16 would be Sweeeeeeeet!!!
Davis and Perriman for the future would be Nasty

Of course he didn't - he's still recovering from injury

I hope the Ravens don't risk a 1st round pick on a receiver with two torn ankle ligaments.....the Ravens don't exactly have a stellar history of drafting great 1st round WR's. Just take a right tackle....unless Mike Williams is available.

Davis is who I'm hoping for. If he's gone, then Ross would be a great consolation prize.

Agree on the first part, strongly disagree on the 2nd part

I was just referring to the staff 'writer's choice of grammar. Not whether he's recovering or not. I know he is as well.

Its also possible that Tom Flacco coached baseball at some time and that the convolution managed to get us back to him anyway... After all, Mike Flacco was drafted by the Orioles, right? So we know the Flacco's are a multi-sport family.
