[News] Late For Work 3/24: John Harbaugh And Bill Belichick Cozy Up At Ohio State Pro Day

Justin Tucker is loving a new rule proposal that rewards teams for blasting kickoffs through the uprights. The league could close a rule loophole that the Ravens used twice to win, including in the Super Bowl.

I like the new kick off rule. I think it will add a little more drama to the game by giving a team more choices. Kick it out of the end zone and they get it at the 25 or try to kick it through the uprights push them back the extra 5 yards. It adds a little extra incentive for kickers and fantasy players. We'll see if it's an advantage or if there's any inherent risk like shanking the ball by trying too hard to split the uprights or by passing up the chance to kick it short to try to get a strip and fumble recovery near the end of a tight game.
I also agree with the call on the unsportsmanlike conduct for multiple fouls to manipulate the clock. I don't blame us for using the loop hole but it does feel "cheap" to win a game that way. Let's keep integrity a part of this sport as much as we can.

IMHO, if nothing else, the sheer fact that dome teams will get an unfair advantage with the extra point for kickoffs through the uprigths, renders this proposal hopeless. Dome teams play at least 8 games with no wind hindering their kicker's accuracy, while non-dome teams play a handful at most.

I agree the domes will have a great opportunity, but won't it come down to more of a team by team scenario? Because both teams will have the chance to apply it, not just the home team. It's like the DH rule in baseball. It's not like one team plays DH and the other has their pitcher hit instead. So if I have the personnel to take advantage of it, I want it, and game plan for it.

I don't see how that gives them an unfair advantage. If a team is playing in a dome, then their opponent is also playing in a dome.

That's a good point Bio. I didn't think about that. I think it still works though because they play 8 games out of a dome while playing away gamesĀ (unless they're playing another dome team), so it should pretty much be a wash right? I'm just glad they're trying to improve the game. The big money people have squeezed the heck out of it for the last few decades and they can see they'veĀ reached the saturation point of what we'll put up with to watch a game.

Ozzie and Co. have a eye for talent like Bellichick but he has Brady and we have Flacco! The squeelers are rite next door and they take advantage as well so can we please get some Buckeyes? ! We've had two so far and I liked John Simon!
