ROUND ONE - HAASON REDDICK - LINEBACKER, TEMPLE

This isn't close to a reach to me. Reddick is a special talent and he will only get better. It's no secret that we need a chase linebacker alongside CJ and that's one of the ways they use him. They'll find ways to send him on blitzes,  bring him from inside, line him up on the edge certain downs.

He is great in coverage and great at getting to quarterbacks. There's a chance this guy can add 12- 15 and move outside full time next year. You need someone special at sixteen and Reddick fits the bill.

ROUND TWO- RYAN ANDERSON- OLB, ALABAMA

I wanted to project Watt, Harris or Williams slipping to us here. It's possible but not likely...if Watt slid and we got him to go along with Reddick, my head might explode. Anyway,

Anderson is without a doubt, an Ozzieesque pick. He is smart, physical, and loves football.  Has a knack for getting in the backfield and causing turnovers. Has very good, powerful hands to clear himself. Stronger than he appears and has jolt in his hand. Physical tackler.....around the ball constantly and makes effort plays. Not an elite athlete but is constantly working. A difference maker who can punish ball carriers.

We can land two physical, passionate cornerstone type players right off the bat.

3) AKHELLO WITHERSPOON - CB, COLORADO

Can't say enough about this guy...how underrated he is. He is a GREAT cover corner....better than his teammate, Awuzie who gets more run, better than a lot of guys who are more well known.

I put his cover skills just under Lattimore and Jones. Put this guy on an island. Great feet, great make up speed, great ball skills  and he makes it look easy. Phenomenal one on one in the red zone.

A liability in the run game, there's no hiding that on tape but he can improve. An absolute steal .

3) ISAAC ASIATA, G/C, UTAH

Just nasty. can play either guard spot...a first year starter at left guard. Intimidating, Tough guy....he and Stanley from great tandem moving forward.

4) CORNELIUS ELDER, CB, MIAMI

Sorry, but I'm not taking this guy out of the mock. Don't care about him being relegated to covering smallish receivers or playing the slot. We absolutely need quality corners. Watch his tape. Great value.

5)  JON TOTH, C , KENTUCKY

Four year starter in SEC. Anchors consistently against bull rush...plenty strong, marginal athlete but smart and physical. Upgrades position year one. A find sitting there in fifth round.

6) GEORGE KITTLE, TE, IOWA

A true two way tight end. Awesome and fierce blocking tight end who can run. A good receiver with size and speed. No doubt this guy has starting ability. Very underrated and I can't pass him up no matter the log jam.

If we go Reddick in the first I def don't see the point of taking Anderson in the second. Seems like a waste considering Reddick can play some Olb. He can cover but he won't be a full time mlb, he's too versatile for that and I think he fits a 4-3 will linebacker much better. Kinda how the falsons use Beasley.

I don't think the ravens will be interested in Witherspoon because of his inability to play the run. We want our corners to be able to tackle. Especially in our division.

I do see what you were trying to do and I like all the players you picked however I don't like how it fits our team. At least not the combination of players.

I like it. Like you said, pick 16 is all about adding special talents and Reddick definitely is. He could also make an interesting duo with Correa, with two guys that can both blitz or drop, which wouls bring a lot of chaos. Anderson is a Judon type of player, nothing that looks really special but he'll still play and play well on Sunday because he's a football player. Also really a fan of Witherspoon and Asiata.

They did just pick up Carr...

I agree about the mixing/disguising of and between he and Correa.

Reddick can really be lined up all over and the offense has to find him and account for him.

Reddick could be switched to a more traditional  and full time 34 olb in our system into next year and really be a dominant pass rusher. Hopefully working Correa in this year will pay dividends.

Judon, Anderson, Reddick, Correa,Kaufusi best case scenario would be formidable for years.

I like it alot-  I just think we certainly will take a receiver somewhere. We almost have to with Aiken departing and Steve retiring. We really only have 2 receivers that are set in stone ( Wallace, Perriman) Moore and camp should be a sure thing but that's still only 4. Assuming we pick up 1 off the open market that leaves ATLEAST 1 spot. 2 if we end up rollin with 7...

You're probably right. Not sure where I would go receiver in that light.

Could go Strickler over Elder in round four .......Perhaps.

We are so in need at so many positions....O LINE, RB, WR, EDGE, DB, ILB, etc.

Witherspoon mostly does try to minimize contact. He goes ankles low, for example....he doesn't see his target generally and he is often seen sort of lurking just in case instead of sticking his head in there.

These things can be coached out of him and I just can't get over the guy in coverage. Very sticky...super instinctive corner.

I'm not so sure. I'very seen plenty of occasions where Witherspoon sees the ball carrier coming and he will just ole' the guy. He'll step to the side to completely avoid contact and then he'll try to make a last second attempt to swipe at the ball carriers ankles. The problem here is that he's more than willing to get out of the way of the runner. I think that's what makes him not the best corner option and I don't know if you can really change that. But yes mad coverage skills

Which I guess is a reason why he might go in the 3rd at which point the value is amazing - and his attitude towards tackling might change when he's actually paid to do it/realises it's the only way he'll see concerted snaps

If he's got mad coverage skills I don't care a bit about him not being able to tackle. Jimmy is a good tackler and he gets hurt doing so, so I can't blame him that much for not wanting to tackle the big guys. Not excusing it, just saying.

I'm pretty sure more than half of Jimmy's injuries have come really from nothing, and not so much tackling. But you're right tackling can get you hurt, and it's what separates football from almost every other sport, so usually players understand that it comes with the game and they had better just get used to it. So I'm going to continue to use tackling as part of my evaluation. Missed tackles are what cost us the game against New England in the playoffs 2 years, missed tackles are what lead to big gains on the ground that should've been no gains, missed tackles from the secondary have cost the Ravens plenty of games over the years.

Jimmy was hurt tackling at the goal line last year.

I did say more than half of his injuries seem to happen away from a tackle. I could revise that and say exactly half though. He got his lisfranc injury on the opening series against the Bengals back in 14' and I can't remember exactly, but I'm sure that nothing actually happened to his foot on the play and I don't even think he was involved on the tackle. I think back in 15' (the really down year) he had a thigh injury in the Chiefs game. It was nothing serious but it made news and I'm pretty sure that was also away from the play.
