With our history in the 2nd round if he is still there I would take him.  Should be back sometime during the season and may be a boost for stretch run.  Does he even last until the ravens pick in the 2nd?

Not sure when he's projected after that injury, but I strongly doubt we take him. Good player but we have other needs to address early, and when picking up a CB, we'll need someone that could jump in immediately, whether it be at the start of the season or the middle or wherever. A team with less important needs at holes to fill or a team with a strong secondary will likely pick him up in the second. I don't think we can afford to pick him up just to wait on him if we need him and wait on other positions that could use some work as well.

However, I'm also still going off hearing that he might miss 8-12 months. Not sure that it changes much though, he'll miss training camp and preseason definitely as well as probably missing some regular season games.

He might miss more games if he's not ready to play when he gets healthy.

I was just looking at the fact that our 2nd round picks have been pretty bad and potentially getting a high 1st round pick later in the draft could be great.

We might be getting Morris Claiborne, the CB need is getting pushed down a bit. So I wouldn't mind spending a 3rd on an injured Top 15 prospect. The draft is full of good CB's so I can see him falling to the third.

(This assumes he's going in the second round) I've heard people exploring trading back if Jones falls to us in the second, hoping to get him on the second round pick we got in the trade, then using the later pick(s) to fill more holes. We'd still probably get another CB anyway just to have one if we need one to play in a heartbeat, but it also depends on the content of the trade. I'm not too sure about this scenario however, I think some teams might have even gained interest on him if they could afford to wait on his recovery and then use the first pick on someone else and capitalize on a first round talent in the second. I couldn't tell you how I feel about this though given all the possibilities that could ensue with different pick value in the trade, who we trade with, Jones being picked after we already traded, what's available besides Jones when we're on the board, etc.

Agreed, I wish it wasn't always assumed we'll pick where we're at or move back. No guarantee a higher rated prospect outperforms another player, but it does hurt to draft picks only serve a special teams players and/or have an entire draft class no longer on the team. Would love to see them double dip in the 1st round since they haven't done that since the almighty Kyle Boller

Some think he still goes in the first but no way. He likely goes in the second. He will be the Jaylon Smith of this year and a team like Dallas will take him. If I was the GM, I would struggle in whether or not to pick the him at 47 because I think he is the best in class pre-injury.

Based on Ozzie's off-season moves, I think he is in win now mode and won't like to wait. If we were to take a non CB talent, such as Barnett, Davis, Foster, or Harris, I would love to see us take another first round talent in the second then move up from the third to take Jones after securing two major puzzle pieces.

A home run draft would be landing Barnett, then someone like Elflein, Moreau or Chidobe, then coming back into the second to grab Jones so we could stash him away.
