Looks like Webb is getting his number back from Jefferson. Jefferson will wear 23 and Tavon is going to wear 25.

I hope that doesn't screw up Tavon's mojo. j/k

Too much money for a backup S/CB.

That's pretty much the same money that Justin Forsett got after a pro-bowl year as a full-time start. He earned it.

Webb has been bellow average since he got paid. Hopefully he earns the new paycheck.

I think his contract is telling of his role on this team or what kind of formations we will be implementing this year, as others have suggested.

Kubiak earned forsetts paycheck.

RB costs less than a DB 9 times out of 10.

Webb earned a decent final contract after playing a solid season at safety last year.

Webb will be better depth/role player than Forsett was a starter

Per Zrebiec: Webb's new deal is 5.1m over 3 years, 1.2m signing bonus and up to 1.4m each year in incentives. Incentives include playing time with all tied to interceptions, fumble recoveries, punt return yards, etc.

Why people should never overreact to overall numbers when reported.  We got him for a bargain.  If we're paying him more, that means he's playing well.

Seriously. This is a steal for what Webb represents. He is a major Swiss Army knife for us.

If he plays at last year's level, that could be one of the best FA signings this year.

Sounds good! What was his base salary etc when we cut him?

if he played at the same efficiency as he did last year on only half the snap count it would still be a league-wide great value signing.

realistically though, were talking about a savvy and smart, older and often injured db who plays every spot in the secondary, who is very familiar with the defense... putting him in a moving depth role literally eliminates his biggest shortcomings while emphasizing his upsides. on a per snap basis he should end up rated pretty high.

The best pick up imo. He brings great knowledge of the Pees defense, is a team player and a trooper. Moreover, he is one of the surest tacklers on defense and if he is well rested and plays limited snaps he is a dangerous substitute at free safety and nickel who can be a great ball hawk. I love that Webby will be back wearing his familiar #21.
