how many snaps have weddle and jefferson played together that they actually can already be put in the same league as 2 guys who have proved for quite some years now that they are the top safety pair?

all that i see here is that jefferson was pretty good as a SS in arizona while weddle was a beast as a SS here.
im actually quite curious if weddle still has the range to play center field cause that is about the last place i want to see jefferson line up lol

True but according to that, Weddle/Webb was already a better safety tandem than Kam/Thomas considering Weddle was well higher than Kam and Thomas had a .1 higher grade.

So if we're keeping Webb for depth then I think it's pretty fair to guess we have the best safety group in the league if not the best duo.

3 top 15 safeties is pretty crazy with 2 in the top 5.

Do you have a Sunday Ticket account or something similar I can use then? Because I'm not getting paid to watch every game like PFF and you apparently.

I have to buy GamePass to watch the games.

And no, you can't use it.

Assuming we keep Webb, I think we are going to be using a lot of the "Big Nickel" formation. Essentially 3 safeties and 2 corners with 1 safety acting as a hybrid s/lb.

I wonder if they signed Jefferson to play that hybrid role? Think he'd fit the role? I've never seen him play to be honest

That's actually a good idea.... If they keep Webb. I have a hard time believing Webb takes a pay cut after being a top 15 safety last year.

The way I see it, it would be

                             Webb

               Weddle            Jefferson

Smith        Mosely        LB        Tavon/CB

                             Front 4

With Weddle and Jefferson playing the hybrid role depending on the offensive lines up.

In theory if that is what they are planning I would be ecstatic. Honestly I don't want to see Webb go. A top 15 safety in his first full year at the position. He is older yes, but he still has some in the tank. Would be nice to keep him. I do like this idea.

I think we could even move one of the the SS to the LB spot and add a 5th DL for pass rush. Lots of options and fluidity.

It looks like a good idea.. But is Jefferson any good in one on one coverage? Especially against slot receivers?

He has good ball skills from what I saw and a solid tackler. He is slower so he can't be up against a burner but if he is in that role he would likely have safety help.

I think if everyone just checked out his highlights from the past two years people would see how good of a player we are getting. Highlights all over youtube. I would post here but they have crap rap with bad words in the background.

I personally dislike watching highlights, doesn't show the whole picture but hopefully we get creative! I'm a fan of the signing.

I want to repeat my previous observation

Matt Elam SS, Draft: 2013, Round 1, Pick 32

Total tackles:    131 ( ?!?)
Sacks:    0.5
Interceptions:    1
Pass deflections:    7

Tony Jefferson SS, Draft 2013, undrafted

Total tackles:    276
Sacks:    5.0
Forced fumbles:    6
Pass deflections:    11
Interceptions:    2
Defensive touchdowns:    1

Should add in this measuring stick:

Matt Elam SS:

busts for trying to sell drugs: 1

Tony Jefferson SS:

busts for trying to sell drugs: 0

Talk about stupid. What in the world does Matt Elam need to be doing that for? Didn't he already make millions of dollars off of his 1st round deal?

He is going to get roasted if he is left on an island with the better Tight ends.

IDK. I've seen him hold his own vs. the Greg Olsen's and Travis Kelce's of the world.

He's primarily and in the box safety but he's actually pretty good in coverage

All short area throws with a fierce rush in Arizona. I guess I wouldn't despise him so much if our offense wasn't treated like a red headed stepchild.lol

I hope Dean Pees ain't gonna set them up for failure with his conservative play calling.

Because not all of us are fans submitting and applauding every move the front office makes. And convince ourselves everything management does is the best move it could have made. I'm comfortable with my stance. You are the one that can't handle opinions. Does it really bother you that some of us think it is a bad signing? And feel like money could have went somewhere else. 90% of this board didn't want to  pay a one dimensional NT $8mil let alone $11mil. But now applauding it saying it is a great move. Some people get all pumped at every move. Smh

What pass rush does the Cardinals have???? LOL They were one of the worst teams at getting to the quarterback why do you think they traded for Chandler Jones and it is still pretty pathetic.

If you are going to throw out outlandish claims, please do your research first.

So you stated that Arizona was one of the worst teams in the league at getting to the QB. I instantly knew that was false because they had Golden and Chandler with double digit sacks.

So I looked it up. They led the league in sacks. I'm not sure how you could be more wrong with your statement.

That was just last year...

And what does that mean? Jefferson was on Arizonas team last year right? Neither party stated a year they were discussing. A poster stated that Arizona is pathetic at rushing the passer. That is clearly false.

They weren't last year, but they have been horrible more often than not during Jefferson's career and the only real corner help he's had consistently is Peterson and Peterson had a very huge down year not too long ago (2015?), so we talk about him getting all this help, but it was really only last year.
