Agree that the article comment sections end up being pure garbage.

It is. I originally signed up to post there. But wow. I couldn't. This part of the forum is so much better. I can't believe admin is picking the bad section over the more productive forum section.

in other words

"Admin betray me. I fed up with this world"

Since the announcement about closing the message I have sent three messages on Contact Us and received nothing in return. I did call the Ravens' office twice and did receive a return call. I was told the reason for closing the boards was the dramatic drop in usage. I am a late comer to the boards but I will miss them.

I have sent unanswered messages as well.

Drop In usage? That's total bull

I'm the messenger but from what I was told useage = posting, not the one one hit on say on game day you wish to leave a comment on the game and how awesome the long snapper is and don't come back, or you register and never post.  I did see one the graphs, when I sign on to the admin side to retrieve a password and I am pretty sure that's what they are using.  We had 25 new people the other day and 20 were spammers out of India and don't count and only one posted.

There  is a significant decline and add a boatload of negativity along with the posters that left after update last year and the team not performing as well we  wanted  IN my opinion is what led to this mess. I think it sucks too, I have logged a crap load of time here to help maintain this community we all love.

So finally the truth is coming out. It's costing costs because the post count on a daily basis is down because a lot of people left after the update the admins did which we the posters didn't request?

Yes and no. My understanding on the upgrade was that it came down from the NFL, not our admins.

I thought it was what everyone else was using so they did too.

Arnie I'm making an educated guess.  I do know it is not cheap for a company like  Invision to run and host a site like this and updates many times are done for security reasons and to keep software current and not state of the ancient.  The NFL did bring all teams on the same platform when the updates happened last year.

I hate updates too, I am the last person to update my iOS -- I just did my iPhone last nite  because it was getting testy about updates that should have been done two months ago.  Everything is the dollars and cents

billion dollar company cant afford official team forum.

guess we finally have some money to get that high priced receiver in FA.

seriously wonder who where those geniuses who made this decision.

usually companies cherish/reward those who are loyal , rather then tell them to piss off and find somewhere else cause they aint worth the cost.

It's been real. It was great that we at least had this forum, this space for awhile. I truly appreciate each and everyone here for simply being here and sharing a thought. No matter if we agree or disagree, it's the sharing that matters no matter where we get that opportunity to share again. Thank you my brothers and sisters eternal.

Are you going to be on one of the other forum sites?

There's no reason why everyone with meaningful discussion posts shouldn't switch to the other forum. That's what it's all about anways. I don't post a lot, but I've been a member since 08 or 09, and I like to read the discussions and SOMETIMES chime in.

Buying merchandise doesn't make me a customer? Oooook..

I don't live in the US either and I bought an Ed Reed jersey, a towel, a football, a winter and a summer hat ( I'm sure I'm even missing something). I bought my gf a Torrey Smith jersey and 2 South Carolina sweathers while taking my sister a USC summer shirt.

Also, even leaving merchandising behind, what you wrote about revenues makes no sense. Ever heard of NFL game pass international?

The league plan to bring more and more games abroad is definitely a huge help to the increase of the fanbase (who go to the games, pay a flight, hotel and tickets) and therefore its revenues. I'm sure you're one of those americans who keep advocating for the game being played in the US only because "hey, it's OUR sport...make your own dang league!".

Interesting that they deleted my original post and kept your post with a quote of my post.  Perhaps they didn't like that I quoted the moderators post that mentioned disabled people in it that I quoted as that was deleted as well.

Yeah when Serie A, Bundesliga, La Liga, and Premier League games are played in Baltimore than I would be fine with NFL games in Europe.  What are the odds of Real Madrid playing Barcelona in Baltimore?

If you are that interested go see Barca play United in DC in July. Or you could go to Miami the following week to see Madrid and Barca.

the us has it's own soccer league that isnt entirely based on farming colleges (which instantly makes it easier to coexist internationally whereas university sport is not as big a deal in the rest of the world) - once american football is really an internationally played sport and big soccer teams stop coming to the US in the Summer your argument might have an ounce of validity

Not as crazy as you might think.  Chelsea and AC Milan played in Baltimore several years back and it was a sellout crowd.  Soccer has steadily been growing in popularity here.

exactly - there's a reason some old stars from europe still come to the MLS despite all the money they could get in China

One of my favorite moments, getting to see Ronaldinho and Drogba play live.  I'm sure fans over in Europe feel the same thing.  Just because they don't have the sport doesn't mean they can't be fans and support the team.

And that gets back to the point where if the best you have for discussing the team is Twitter and Facebook then a lot of people won't want to discuss the team.

To get somewhat back on topic, it's been real guys.  My time on message boards is likely coming to an end this Friday, as I don't immediately plan to join any other site.  I think that time has come to focus more on real life, despite how much I've enjoyed talking football with many of you.  I figured I'd say my "goodbyes" now before Friday so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle.  I'll still be around over the next couple of days so feel free to reach out.  A few of you have my personal contact information, and I'd be more than happy to share it with a few others that have meant a great deal over these last 6 years if you'd like to keep in contact.  If one of these new homes starts to develop a following, I may consider a return to the message board world.

I can honestly say I wouldn't know the game of football as well as I do without a large majority of you.  I have always considered myself more knowledgeable than the average football fan that calls into 105.7, but learning from a lot of you really made me realize just how complex this game is.  Learning how to evaluate prospects, read coverages, etc. wouldn't have happened without the insane amount of knowledge that can be found around here (some more than others, obviously).  I sincerely thank you guys as it has really strengthened my love for the game, despite never playing it other than backyard games in the neighborhood.

It's been real, ya'll.  Go Ravens!

We can agree to disagree on that.  If there were no good reason, then they wouldn't be shutting it down.

I will agree that it was a great place to bring Ravens fans together.  The site isn't going away.  Just the forums are.

Why do you argue so passionately for the decision makers upstairs? Just because someone made the decision through official channels doesn't mean it was the right one or that people are being stubborn for disagreeing as you implied in your next post. Do you also feel that strongly that the Chicago Tribune made the right decision when it canned all its news photographers?

Saying the site will be sticking around is a copout. The news threads are about what you'd expect from an internet comments section (which is hardly surprising since it is an internet comments section) - they're a step up from Facebook but only a small one.

What's ridiculous is that a team would be cutting part of its own site that generates ad revenue and saying "visit us on social media" where they get nothing.

I hope you stay in contact. You are one of the most insightful members on this forum, easily among the most fair and objective, and that says a lot considering the great deal of respect that I have for numerous other members. I share your sentiments entirely about the second paragraph.

That was a friendly.  I have no problem with NFL playing pre season games out of the country but regular season should be in U.S.
