I sometime wonder what is the reason he hasn't been booted off the forum long time ago. More ammo for the theory how this place is the same as FB?

Am I paranoid?

As for his posts, I could only comment if I understood them. He tries I suppose but I don't have the brain power to read through them because it is excruciating and taxing. However, I do know I am never getting on twitter and facebook to give them a reason to rationalize this idiotic decision to close the boards.

Yeah - it is tough to just boot somebody ... they really have to be cited for breaking the rules. Being extraordinarily obnoxious alone isn't grounds for dismissal. The thing is so many people who the majority of posters find obnoxious are also hyper critical of the team to a ridiculous fault. Start removing them and the cries start to pour in about being a homer site, not allowing for contrarian opinions, etc.

I guess a rule could have been specifically created that your posts need to be in readable English. That would have done the trick.

I kind of like the reddit concept ... they remove posts if enough people neg it, don't they. If you make it a large enough count,. It allows the posters themselves to judge what needs to be removed and doesn't need to be justified by some specific rules violation.

I appreciate what you're saying and I have no issue with any of the other frequently mentioned people who hate Flacco, Harbaugh, whatever. But I really don't understand how RayRayRaven was allowed to post so much garbage, regardless of whether he agrees or disagrees with anybody on the board. That crap is incomprehensible and I'd say obvious troll. There was no 'value' in letting his (different) opinion heard even if he was a genuine poster because there's no opinion there, there are no legible words and sentences in his posts.

Maybe I'm alone here but I haven't lost any respect for the Ravens but rather their media team who decided this. It's not like Steve, Ozzie and John decided to close this forum after their meeting in FL.  This is a Media Department decision likely from the team deciding they want to shift focus to more popular avenues.  I can't blame them but I do personally disagree with their stance and think it's a poor decision to remove the forums rather than keep them at a limited capacity.

I think it comes back to the promotions the team runs through its social media avenues, such as the contest to guess the 53, or other stuff like that. It's really minor in my opinion but who knows what kind of resources go into this place. I just don't understand why you'd want to take away a means fans use to connect. That seems foolish.

all can say black is nevah felt one of ur posts was worth readin. read this one sorta only to get the feelin that no one on this bd wants to live in aukland wherevah that is cuz tolerant of diverent views wuld not discribe it.  not understanin is one thang not willin to listen is anotha but not havin a somethin to say is a third. maybe in aukland they got those nailed down tite.  as it pertain to football gotta believe that contract renegotiashon of joes big contract is the straw that done broke the auks back. evahone here sayed you culdna trade him after that deal and they made it jus as joes big contract was endin. he wulda played it out in the nex yr. that the one they canna get away from and though elam and humpf and all da othas hurt its the joe deal that is killin. still no one hate joe or harball its jus time hate aint an America thang. maybe its diff in auksland

too long for the average member to want to read.  That said.  If you're not sure of the reasoning or believe what the have said is the reasoning, as it doesn't fit your ideas, then you really cannot discount their reasoning.

Exactly the point @-Truth- is making. The reason is the quest for numbers in a "flavour of the day" form, without any regard to substance.

@allblackraven is right on the money. The expectation of reducing pertinent content in order for the ideas to appeal to the average reader is one of the main issues in the migration. I am sure about the reasoning. Whether or not the assumption of the motive behind it is accurate, my post touched on their stated belief about the evolving landscape. I disagree with this sentiment, therefore I feel that I am able to discount it.

All of them are at fault. Well, more so on the Mr. Biscotti side. It just comes back down to money. It cost to host a server and forum and this is a cost saving measure to help along the bottom line. They know most people will be upset in the end, but overall will continue to support the team and get over it. Chat boards like these are a dying breed in Generation Social Media. I'm going to miss this forum and some of the talks I've seen and had here albeit small.

I mean, this all has to be Flacco's fault, right?  That massive contract he signed will no longer allow the team to afford to keep the boards up and running.  Reason #9569 we should trade him.

I came across the Russell street report forums for ravens. I wonder if anyone else on here uses that as well?

That site has suffocated itself with ads.

Can't believe it's almost done. Haven't been a member very long, but reading this board was a huge part of my childhood years ago and I'll miss reading and having conversations on here. Real shame it's closing.

I am curious. Are all NFL team forums closing? Is this an NFL mandate that they move on to social media or is it just the Ravens brain trust?

If it is just the Ravens they're really doing something that in my view is pretty short sighted and could cost them fans.

Well according to the post you are quoting they have Facebook and other social media platforms that are more popular than this site.

Also some guy who is the Auckland isn't generating revenue for the Ravens.  No TV revenue, No ticket revenue.  The Ravens aren't responsible for creating a social network for people who aren't even their customers

Buying merchandise doesn't make me a customer? Oooook..

I don't live in the US either and I bought an Ed Reed jersey, a towel, a football, a winter and a summer hat ( I'm sure I'm even missing something). I bought my gf a Torrey Smith jersey and 2 South Carolina sweathers while taking my sister a USC summer shirt.

Also, even leaving merchandising behind, what you wrote about revenues makes no sense. Ever heard of NFL game pass international?

The league plan to bring more and more games abroad is definitely a huge help to the increase of the fanbase (who go to the games, pay a flight, hotel and tickets) and therefore its revenues. I'm sure you're one of those americans who keep advocating for the game being played in the US only because "hey, it's OUR sport...make your own dang league!".

Do you know why we never get a response when we send a communication through contact us?

You should always receive a response from Contact Us. All of those emails go directly to one person who then funnels them to the appropriate people in the depts. pertaining to the message. We have received several emails from people on the boards and sent replies to each of them.

As we do receive a significant amount of emails, it sometimes takes several days for the message to be sent to the proper person to address it.

I take it there's no going back on this decision huh?

Btw thanks for the extension. It was nice to have a final draft here if it's the last one.

Our plan is still for this Friday to be the last day of the boards.

Not that you know the answer to this or anything...

but if the boards are considered to be riddled with trolls and poor conversation, then why allow the absolute worst part of the boards to continue running?

The news article comment sections are worse than world chat on a world of Warcraft private server. They're pure cancer

Since the announcement about closing the message I have sent three messages on Contact Us and received nothing in return. I did call the Ravens' office twice and did receive a return call. I was told the reason for closing the boards was the dramatic drop in usage. I am a late comer to the boards but I will miss them.

Wow, so you're sustaining the part of the site absent of real discourse, while eliminating the only place discussion occurs? Good thinking. Thanks for your contribution to the dumbing down of society.

I'm not sure what exactly he's looking at, but I'm pretty sure I check the Ravens website and message board 3-4 times a day at least.....does it count as dramatic drop?
