UPDATED: MESSAGE BOARDS CLOSING AFTER DRAFT   03/08/2017

After careful consideration, we have decided that we will sunset our message boards after this year's NFL Draft. Since we opened our boards a decade ago, the digital landscape has greatly evolved. While we understand there remains a smaller group of highly-engaged fans who participate in conversation in our forums, a significant amount of the dialogue about our team and our games has migrated away to other social media platforms over the past several years. Our message boards will remain up and running through Friday, May 5th, and will be removed on May 6th. We recognize that this change may upset avid members of our community. However, we look to utilize our time and resources to focus on how we can best connect with our fans across an array of digital/social outlets. If you are not already engaging us and other members of the Ravens Flock on our Facebook page, Instagram account, through Twitter or Snapchat, we invite you to follow us on those channels and continue to participate in our social communities. In addition, the commenting feature on our website articles will remain intact. Members will be able to continue using their boards account to log in and share their thoughts at the bottom of every news story. We’d like to thank all the Flock members and our moderators who have brought thoughtful conversation to this space and made our community great for the last 10 years. Ravens Social Media Hub »

ANNOUNCEMENT: Boards Closing May 5 (New Date)

486 posts in this topic

After careful consideration, we have decided that we will sunset our message boards at the end of this month. Since we opened our boards a decade ago, the digital landscape has greatly evolved. While we understand there remains a smaller group of highly-engaged fans who participate in conversation in our forums, a significant amount of the dialogue about our team and our games has migrated away to other social media platforms over the past several years.

Our message boards will remain up and running through Friday, March 31st, and will shut down on April 1st.

Wow. As a fan who left Baltimore in 2003 and found this community I can't say enough about how upsetting this is. Facebook has some of the worst 'Raven' fans.

Wow. Not happy.

Will not be engaging on FB or any other platforms because it doesnt allow for actual discussion. Just one or two lines of unsubstantiated, emotional garbage or "hot takes."

Plus, i dont want to be bombarded with advertising while discussing the Ravens...

But, i guess you cant really advertise on here and capitalize on the "engagement" so why bother.

Im being unreasonable, but i dont care.

It's been happening a lot. Personally, I always preferred forums.

I was thinking of creating one myself, but I'd be down to join for sure. Everyone from the Forum Mock and Draft a Franchise would be looking for a permanent home so they would likely join as well.

This is terrible. I'm not going to go on Facebook for "discussion" with fans who don't understand basic football fundamentals like the salary cap and still think Terrell Owens "need sign now." Awful. I browsed RSR last season and it was a raging dumpster fire. This sucks.

Need to be careful or else it could easily turn into facebook 2.0, I don't think any sane person would want to converse with the people that post on the facebook page.

I've got one set up already. Admin functions like banned words, ability to ban certain users, can filter all new members, etc...

Will share the forum link shortly for all that want to join.

Just want to have the general framework set up (Discussion areas, basic topics, etc...).

I'll try to loosely model it after this community so it's familiar to everyone and navigation will be fairly easy.

Has anyone ever been on extremeravens.com.  It's not that active, but with enough migration from fellow board members, it could be an active board.  I haven't been on the board in over two years, but found that board before this one.

I probably needed a push to get off of here anyways, but it couldn't at least go through draft season?  Ouch.

May I suggest the Ravens subreddit on Reddit?

https://www.reddit.com/r/ravens/

I post there, but our sub mods practically don't exist. And I honestly cringe everytime there's an "f*** -insert team here-"

Well, guess I will just go ahead and get my Ravens information from other media outlets as well. The main reason why I stopped looking at ESPN for Ravens and Orioles information is when they shut down their message boards as well.

If you are looking for a way to keep in touch with your fans, shutting down the message boards seems like the opposite direction to go.

I do also see that the shut down date would officially be April 1st, so this might just be a preemptive set up for a big April Fool's Day joke.

meh, it's a civil sub. There's no brigading or anything so the mods really have no reason to do much.

and it may be a new and improved board they are working on as well.  Who knows
